I’d guess Burton will be in for him. He was on loan there last season. I can see it being a Gillingham or Stockport type signing though.

Any clue where Charlie Kirk will end up? Just been released from Charlton. I can think of a great home for him.
He's been on our radar in the past, but can imagine a bigger northern club or a League Two big spender will probably take him.

Half of this league would want to take a punt on him if they could afford him.

I don't think I've ever seen Charlie Kirk have a good game against us, definitely not in L1 anyway.

I think I've seen him have one good game for us. Unfortunately didn't work out for him and he's now totally void of confidence and a shadow of the player he was at Crewe.

He was our highest wage earner I think so hopefully now we can bring someone in. He'd either have to take a big pay cut or go somewhere like Wrexham

He needs to go closer to home.

The move here came at completely the wrong time for him but definitely a player with little stomach or heart for a challenge in my opinion, so he’s much better off going somewhere to play with his mates.

Good luck to him, hope he can pick his career up elsewhere but genuinely one of the worst and most frustrating I’ve seen here and that’s saying something considering the last 15 years we’ve had.

Kinda interested to speculate who this would be. Two club with enough money to spend the bulk of a million who isn't in the promotion chase right now must narrow it down a bit. Wigan and Reading? Do Carlisle have enough money to spend £800k on a Striker?

We don't buy players who we don't believe are worth their asking price as we're not fools who will just throw money at everything which would come back and bite us big time.

There are other capable strikers for this level out there who are much cheaper.

Interesting. You’d have thought that if it’s a club spunking big wedge, that it would be one of the ones that *do* have a chance of promotion.

But yeah, as was mentioned above, you’d have to think it’s one of Wigan or Reading otherwise, but I thought both of those are absolute basket cases financially.

I cant imagine it will be anything like £800k given JCH has hardly played in the last couple of months and contract is up in the summer.
We are no longer interested apparently so I hope Matt Taylor has something up his sleeve (Nombe?) as Aaron Collins has been useless all season

Aren't Wigan and Reading restricted on what they can spend on transfer fees? Charlton maybe?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I can 100% see Carlisle after the posh
Player but we’d not offer near the same amount as the summer, as shown with Armstrong we are in a small portion of clubs willing to spend money in January but not at them levels.

But a proven L1 player is what currently Carlisle need.

I think we do, but I don’t think we will.
I’ve said many times, while our owners are wealthy and are willing to invest, I don’t think it will be stupid amounts this early. It will be a more measured long term approach rather than flinging cash all over the place.

The only scenario I see them really splashing on a player is if it gets to the very end of January and we still look woefully short. Maybe then, but still doubt we’ll go near a million on a player.

I don't think JCH will be commanding an £800k fee at this point - not when his contract is up in June. If Peterborough have a replacement lined up, they may take a knockdown fee in order to free up his wages. That said, I'd be surprised if we're one of the two clubs.

Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Marseille and Juventus amongst clubs after our youth wide man Liam Brazier who made apps in the BSM Trophy for us.

Would be another stellar sale for our youth academy and Dortmund have apparently set to offer 750k but Vale want to sign him on pro terms and cash in further when he turns 17.

Would be another great coup for the youth which under Carol and Flickers has been incredible for us with a few in the first team now and the big sale to Villa for a school boy record fee in the summer and the lad the Newcastle.

Yeah I doubt we'll be signing another striker who is worth more than what we dished out for Armstrong.

But who knows, would be a massive statement for next month though if we signed two quality strikers for hundreds of thousands.

Looks like Oli Arblaster has been recalled by Sheffield United. They want to try and integrate him into the first team squad so that shows how well he has done. Bit of a blow to us but that’s the risk with loan players.

Gutting but it’s been a pleasure seeing someone of that talent in a Vale shirt. Fully expect him to make a Premier League appearance second half of the season and will be unsurprised if he goes on to make it at the very top level.

It’s always the risk with loan players. I’m hoping we can hang on to Alfie Devine though, when he moved to that Arblaster role against Barnsley some of his passing was very good so I’d ride with that then use Wilson as a 10.

Probably going to say goodbye to Conlon as well (Cheltenham was mentioned as the destination on OVF yesterday which in all honesty makes sense given how DC loves him as a player). Means we have to look at reinforcing midfield when the window opens as well as finally getting a natural LWB. Probably a striker too if Swansea decide to recall Josh Thomas and/or Wilson doesn’t get a new deal.

Devine was outstanding Boxing Day in that role so as long as not recalled also he was comfortably cover the Arblaster loss, he’s obviously the more hyped one of the two and maybe it will give him chance to really flourish with us now.

You could then play Wilson as a number 10 and we don’t weaken particularly if we decide to keep him.

Conlon and Cass off to Cheltenham and Harrogate is the rumour hence why they’ve disappeared from the squad since Burton which is ridiculous when we have so many out.

Conlon just never made the step up really, possibly partly down to the big injury but being so one footed seemed to really get shown up in league one level. Will always be well thought of though and that COVID season he was phenomenal, that goal at Barrow will be remembered for many years.

Cass is probably league two level and Harrogate would be closer to his roots so would be a sensible move. Never quite pushed on from that first half season we had him in 2021/22.

It’s going to be a big January, striker situation needs sorting but can’t be losing Wilson based on the difference we’ve seen the last two games when he comes on. I’d look to loan at Loft maybe but unsure if he played for Rovers which would mean he couldn’t, need a decent striker and see if Flickers sticks to his word about resolving that mess.

Left back is critical to sort, Grant can’t do two games a week and seems injury prone anyway, wonder if we will go back in for the Portsmouth lad Denver Hume? It was close on deadline day.

After starting the season with 8 million midfielders we now may need to repair that, especially if Devine also gets recalled, for as good as Walters has been in the cups he hasn’t really been able to hit them levels in the league so probably isn’t completely ready yet (which may not be a bad thing with the contract situation to sort out).

In terms of Arblaster he will have a great career and probably the best player since our time in the second tier, absolutely class above 99 per cent of this division and wouldn’t shock me if he makes it as an England player in time. A rare decent loan signing from us! And look forward to following his career and seeing where it goes, the fact he’s going back to possibly play Premier League football shows what an impact he has had.

I think we're hoping/expecting some early-ish moves. Suspect we'll look to move on Makama (loan out), Vale (cut loan short), Shodipo (end of short contract), Adelakun (transfer listed) during January.

It sounds like we'll do our best not to recall Draper from Walsall (10 in 19 there) to keep him developing rather than throw him into our first team but that's dependent on getting the players in we're chasing.

After Blackpool on NYD we're two weeks without a game so that gives us some time to strengthen the top end of the pitch.

Yeah Loft came off the bench in at least 3 league games that I remember, so you are lumbered there

Edmondson at Ipswich is being touted as a credible loan according to journalist Chris Wise.

We've failed to sign him twice before when at Oldham and then Rangers.

Had some bad injuries in the last year and wonder if he's still the same player, as presumably he would in the first team mix otherwise.

We need a replacement to cover Regan Poole.

To be fair he came with a warning from pretty much every single gashead  He plays like he has pinball flippers for legs
We know, see Barnsley’s third!

He always looked like prime Brazilian Ronaldo against us! Must have scored a chunk of his professional goals against us for you, Carlisle and Scunthorpe!

I can’t ever picture him bursting through clean through running 20 yards and casually lifting the ball over the keeper who’s charging out like he did for you at our place!

After some negative news finally a positive, James Wilson has signed a new deal until the end of the season which is huge, as when fit he’s miles ahead of any other striker at the club! Chuffed

Some names that have been mentioned as possible incomings in January (taking these with a pinch of salt):

Will Evans at Newport. Would be delighted with him as he’s scored a shed load in L2 this season. Trouble is, I’d imagine he’d command a big fee.

Hiram Boateng at Mansfield. Our old player and someone that could be unreal on his day, but there’s a reason why he’s moved from club to club without really fulfilling his potential. We will need a new midfielder as Trevitt looks like he’s out long term.

Also, a lot of noise suggesting that Harry Kite is heading to Bristol Rovers as he’s put in a transfer request. He’s a good player, but by no means irreplaceable.

Didn’t Boateng score an absolute worldie against us at your place a few years back? Never seemed to push on after leaving you.

Charlton and Fleetwood are the two L1 Clubs after JCH according to the Peterborough end.
