Cowleys in.

Surely they're going to land another job sooner or later.

Rumours floating round that we've sacked former Dagenham and Macclesfield manager Daryl McMahon from our coaching staff - he was hired as a set play and developement coach - since he's turned up our form has nose dived a bit.

One of our owners was at our game today and clearly thought Derbys third goal was the work of a st play coach not doing his job well enough!

Thank god for that. Today was the worst it’s been, fans turning on the board and one guy tried to get to Dino - probably to twat him.
He had to go.
And hopefully a lifetime ban for the "fan"?

The focus for the club right now, probably until the infrastructure projects are nearly all completed and we can start putting more resources towards the playing budget and looking upward, is simply to keep our League 1 status.

The fan base is split on whether Bonner was the man for that. For the last year and a half it had felt like we were slowly sliding backwards.

Harris, even if you look at his Gillingham spell unfavourably, has still got a decent résumé for this level. I doubt we've appointed him thinking he'll be here for the next 5-10 years, think Paul Barry purely wants him in to steady the ship and keep us around mid table for a couple seasons.

Bonner definitely seemed a little surprised by his sacking, but judging from comments from Harris and others, and his links to the club and city it's been suggested that Harris has been in the running for the job for quite a while. He knows three of the coaching staff, one of our directors, and has attended a number of games before and after he left Gillingham. A couple months ago Harris's mates in the city had even told a number of Cambridge fans to expect him to be the next manager. So seems like Paul Barry may have been thinking things through for a while.
Fair points.

I think it's the type of managerial appointment that surprised me more than it being Harris per se. I thought you'd go down the younger, Head Coach type road (similar to Bonner I suppose?).

Didn’t think Maamria was that close to the sack but guess based on the form guide going into yesterday it was us, them and Stoke who were the worst across the divisions (so really doing Staffordshire proud there between us all). Be interesting what they do now as they do have good players so can see it being a job that might attract some decent names.

We think something has kicked off / as Ben never sacks a manager - they “part ways mutually”..
This is on the back of something, what we do not know. Perhaps it’s the awful football, or keeping your star striker on the bench, or the fact the gates are dwindling away.
Either way I’m delighted.
Would take Rowett back in a heartbeat but he can do better than us, so god knows.
As you say, some decent players so the nucleus of a mid table team if you can get it right.
Hopefully we do not rush and get some clown in. We have had 3 in a row now ( Jake Buxton, JFH and Dino ).

should have played us during the international weekend that would have been a rare W
We thought it would be better to send our players away on international duty and let them get injured.

Strangely we've rearranged our game with Posh, which was postponed at the next break, but still no word about yours.
Still working out seats?

Cotterill interviewed today.
It’s a no from me.

What do other BAFC fans think? Personally I’d put him into the “solid yet unspectacular” bracket, though I guess Chelts fans would think differently.

We have Three camps.
The delusional fans - lampard, Terry
The sentimental fans - ex managers, ex players, etc
And those in the middle like me who want Rowett.
There is no clear favourite with the fans.
Some still even wantes dino to stay..

Caldwell is inexplicably still in a job. Only 2 points from 12 games and 2 goals scored in that time. It’s mental and you have to wonder how long it’ll go before the board take action.

Trouble is, it sounds like we’re prepared to back him in January which could be disastrous. Can’t see us getting any points from our next 5 games so by then we will probably be rooted to the bottom of the league.

Yeah the south stand isnt fully open yet although the small section of it (nearest to the away terrace) was being used at the last home game.

This is the latest from the club published 09/12:
"The works to complete the stand are ongoing and we hope these will be concluded in the coming weeks, this includes the groundworks around the stand and the fit-out of the concourse area.
As soon as the building work is complete, the club is required to conclude the building control process sign-off. Following this, the club will be eligible to apply for a new Grounds Safety Certificate at the new capacity.
At this point, the club will be permitted to commence its test events utilising the entire stand.
As a temporary solution, we have secured permission to use limited sections of the stands that are not reliant on the concourse section of the development"

They meed some floodlights on it too as there is a very noticeable shadow at that end of the ground. The game with you guys wont be this year, so not sure why they havent set a date given the stand will be completed within weeks.
Even with pillars its a big improvement on the tent. 2 nets as well to help with your goalscoring problem :fl:

Hopefully having 2 goals as well might boost your goal difference.

We've only been allocated 750 so assume it won't be open until the new year.

What's with the missing section on the left hand side?

Will this be divided between home and away fans?

I'll never understand why you appointed Caldwell after his shambolic spells with Chesterfield and Partick Thistle. The bloke is an absolute chancer and is almost single-handedly the reason they've had 6 years in non league. 3 wins in his entire spell there should've had him blackballed from any other managerial role in England. Even failing in the Scottish Championship with a full time team was embarrassing too and more grounds to banish him from any managerial role.

I have a feeling your fan-led board were either hoodwinked by him or just wanted to appoint a manager on the cheap. Backing him would be suicide. We did the same with Artell 2 years ago and it cemented our relegation when he brought in some truly uninspiring signings bar Dan Agyei.

The thing is though, Artell was rumoured to have been interviewed for the job and many of our fans wanted him!

Caldwell was the sole reason I had Exeter pegged for relegation at the end of last season (after we beat them in March to be honest). I can't remember if I said it on our podcast following the game, but I certainly mentioned it to the team.

It was looking a bit of a stupid suggestion by the end of September, but the way they've fallen off a cliff is mad

Caldwell is certainly partly to blame but if you look at the players Exeter lost in the summer it shouldn't come as a complete shock to people.

That what my reasoning for putting them down to get relegated.

But we signed some good players, (Trevitt, Carroll, Niskanen, Sinisalo) at least they looked good at the beginning of the season. Their form has fallen away which suggests either poor coaching or an issue with the manager.
And losing Mitchell for the rest of the season is a huge blow.

Mitchell is a hell of a loss.

I'm usually quite one-eyed when watching football, only really concentrating on what my team's players are doing, but Mitchell was outstanding at Whaddon Road last season.

Yeah, we were warned by Chesterfield fans in particular. I was hoping he’d massively improved his management/ coaching skills during his break after the Partick job, but sadly not.

The players demeanour looks completely off and I’ve not seen us look so toothless in donkeys years. Yes, we were always going to see key players leave, but recruitment has been so poor in the forward areas. That said, it’s not just about the personnel…If we went out and signed 2 proven strikers, I don’t think we’d suddenly improve. Our tactics are woeful and teams worked us out. I’m now at the point that I am genuinely hoping we get beaten every game, just to force the board’s hand. Hopefully Stevenage will give us a 5 goal humping tomorrow.

Really? You don't know who is the best out of those?

Someone who has 3 Football League promotions, two of which were championships, not to mention two other non-league promotions, one of which was a championship, to his name, someone who did nothing at Fleetwood, and two people who have no Football League management experience.

And you don't know who is best?

But what he achieved with you - does not necessarily replicate to us. Many managers have never been able to reproduce what they had and for some unbeknown reason it does not work.
He is the most coveted applicant but, I don’t know if the best.
Scott brown I think is damaged goods.
The other two unknowns.
