Two games, two identical 3-1 wins away at Southend, but now it's time to let another team suffer the JET engine.

Hopefully Bury playing a day later in the cup and going to extra time will leave us a little fresher for this one. Not sure either Ehmer or Dack are out long-term, but I can't imagine we'll be seeing either on Saturday, although this is mollified a bit because of the wondrous JET who has started off like a train and will be invading the dreams of Southend players for months.

I'm going to go with a narrow 1-0 Gills win, with a crowd around the 5600 mark with the lack off away fans offset by JET-assisted floating Gills fans.

We are already missing Morris, Martin, Wagstaff and Garmston.
Dack & Ehmer were both taken off injured on Tuesday.
If the latter two are out then we will be a bit stretched and it won't be anything like 4-0.
Hoping they are both fit and we a nick a win.

Oh it will don't worry. JET will tear us a new one. We are truly shocking away we set up wrong every time. Like I said, 4-0.

JET 3-0 Bury.

If Dack and Ehmer don't make it then just put Pask and Knott in the starting 11 from the team that started the league game at Southend, so:

Nelson
Jackson - Deji - Pask - Konchesky
Wright
Osadebe - Byrne
Knott
McDonald - JET

Hadler, Hessenthaler, List, Donnelly, Quigley, Oldaker, Dickenson

I think Ehmer will be ruled out due to the 7 day rule concerning players who have suffered concussion.

New midfielder signing to be announced today who could come in to contention too.

2-1 Gills

Main problem we have on Saturday is the lack of height in our team. Bury have some big lads and I think it could be hard work at set plays. I understand Pask did well at Southend, but dealing with Pope will be a different challenge for him.

I would play our tallest midfield 3 in Osadebe, Wright and Hessenthaler. Then maybe have JET in behind Quiqley and Mcdonald. Hopefully we can then out play Bury, and not have many miss matches in the air at set plays.

Remember bringing my Leeds team to Priestfield for our first away game and we narrowly lost 2-1. Like most teams who beat Leeds that season, they probably followed it up with a defeat and goes some way to explaining why Leeds did not get promoted in either of my two full seasons at Elland Road. This statistic as a whole, along with Leeds being other team's cup final is covered in chapter 188 of my book; 'Will There Be A Footballing Rainbow: Kevin Blackwell Dreaming of a Better Brand of Football.'

Please tell me that is Hessenthaler's son on he bench and not the ex manager?
On the pitch, going to be optimistic and predict a 1-1 draw. Been supporting Bury since 1993 and we have never won at the Priestfield Stadium, Hulme's boxng Day treble came just months before my first ever game.

We've just signed Jamie O'Hara.

How very bizarre this summer has been.

What a strange summer. Very happy with the squad, but I'm eager to see what List and Oldaker can do, so hope they get chances at some point.
O'hara to come in tomorrow? I'm guessing he starts on the bench, don't know how much preseason, if any, he's had. Wright, Osadebe and Byrne/Hess the midfield 3.

Quiggers/Jet/Mcdonald upfront in a bold front 3 move?

Doubt we'd change shape. Imagine it'd be the diamond again, O'Hara on the left of it.

Dack and Ehmer definitely out of this one - Dack out for a couple of weeks, Ehmer ruled out through the new concussion protocols.

Back 5 picks itself, as do Wright, JET and Knott. Imagine we'd stick with Cody up with JET, and the two other midfield berths are available for any of Hess, Osadebe, Byrne and O'Hara.

Options.

I'm going for a pint.

Oops! Sorry I meant to say that I'm going for a point, silly me!
But I am actually going for a pint rather than going to the Bury game (part-timer! )
1-1 scoreline, goal coming from a defender, NatCam please.

Close defeat, we gave it a go. One of the toughest games in the league. At least we were respectable?? Anyone want to shed any light on how we played

Played well, conceded 2 bad goals. Both teams had chances. I think a draw would have been a fair result.
