Manchester City could probably do with him right about now.

Maybe. His one year at ManCity was a big mistake (he should've stayed at HSV instead :D ). Boateng needs the perfect surroundings and the total confidence of the coach in his abilities and he has this at Bayern.
Before the World Cup 2014 he was only a good defender but in this tournament it made "Click" and suddenly he became a very good defender. He grew more and more self control and self confidence since he plays for Bayern. It was surely the right move for him.

So Ancelotti begins with a trophy then, goals from Vidal and Muller seeing them win 2-0.

Shame for Dortmund but (although I didn't watch), it sounds like it was close and so hopefully it'll be an interesting race for the title this time out!

I watched it and Dortmund was in the first half the far better team than Bayern. Sometimes it was even a Power-Play but the big advantage for Bayern is their Goalie. Nobody beats Manuel Neuer.
In the first half Dortmund had lots of chances to score (Bayern on the other hand only one big chance for Vidal). Götze and Schürrle didn't start, but Hummels at Bayern (every ballcontact from him was booed but I've heard worse "boos" (e.g Schalke Fans when one of their own comes to visit))
It was a good match and I am optimistic that Dortmund can challenge Bayern in the Bundesliga (if they convert their many chances, but with Reus and Götze in the starting team it will be better)

Speaking of goalkeepers, Burki was also fantastic in the match. I know he conceded two goals but he made a number of brilliant saves.

That's right, steven. He was very good, too. Some Germans here are saying that Ribery should've get the red card after his elbow "Check" against Passlack and they are always quoting the typical "Bayern Dusel" (I don't have a suitable english translation but it means that Bayern often has luck in such scenes or making last minute goals). Ribery has some "bad reputation" for such kind of actions (in the Cup Final he was very lucky not to get the red card after a nasty incident).

Just noticed that St Pauli are bottom of the Zwei with no points from 2 games. Not sure if we should be worried but I'd hate them to go down. Hannover and Braunschweig are the only sides to keep their 100% record.

It's only 2 matches played, 32 to go. St.Pauli was very good in the match against Stuttgart and were only unlucky not to get at least a draw. OK, at home against Braunschweig they were not good and deservedly lost. But I think they come soon out of the bottom.

Hannover and Braunschweig are the only sides to keep their 100% record.

Yes. I made a photo of the actual standings and framed it :D. Two Lower Saxonian Clubs at the Top of the 2nd Bundesliga. That's not gonna happen often (if ever) ;)

First round of the German FA Cup (DFB Pokal) began yesterday with 3 matches. No surprise so far

Carl Zeiss Jena (Regionalliga Nordost - 4th League) vs Bayern München 0-5
FV Ravensburg (Oberliga - 5th League) vs FC Augsburg 0-2
VfB Lübeck (Regionalliga Nord - 4th League) vs St.Pauli 0-3

Carlo Ancelotti had mixed feelings about Jena, he mentioned. In his playing days with AS Roma in 1980 he played against Carl Zeiss Jena (back then a GDR club) in the European Cup Winners Cup. AS Roma won the 1st leg with 3-0 and were then destroyed in Jena with 4-0. He said that this was one of the most bitter losses of his career.

In the East German derby, Dynamo Dresden adressed a bull's head to Red Bull Leipzig fans. Man those fans are nutters.

1860 beat Karlsruhe and progress to the next round.:woo:

HSV has won its first competitive match in the new season. They won the Cup match with 1-0 at 3rd League Side Zwickau with a Goal from Newcomer Alen Halilovic (Barcelona/Gijon) in the 70th minute. The Guy is already worth the money.
Not a great game but a win is a win. It's not so easy to win at a 3rd League side as it may seems. Ask Werder Bremen about it. :D

So, today starts the Bundesliga into its 55th season. As usual in the last years with a (short and boring) Opening ceremony and the actual Champion will open the season (again boring because it's now the 5th time in a row that Bayern will do that). The Game is of course shown live in German Free TV (one of very few Bundesliga Matches that you can see aside from Sky)

Bayern vs Werder Bremen:
Everything below 3-0 would be a surprise. Bremen already eliminated from the German Cup last week after they lost against 3rd League Side Lotte :D. Hopefully the "Fischköppe " will be relegated this time. Last season they survived with the last match.

Alonso just scored an absolute screamer to get Bayern off the mark for the season.

Bayern have started off here like a house on fire. There was one Lewandowski chance that forced a great save, that was sensational team football. They are currently 3 - 0 up after 45 mins.

Cmon D. With St Pauli miles from looking to get back to the Buli, you'd be bored without a nordderby.

Although the Nordderby is the most played match in the Bundesliga I can live without it because it would mean that Werder is in the 2nd Bundesliga :D

Bayern could have scored 10 Goals. What a disastrous performance from Werder. Some of the new ones of Werder (don't know the name) had a cramp in the leg. Hilarious.

btw: I wrote above 55th season but it's the 54th season. Embarrassing :ffs:

a little detail:

The 0-6 from Werder equalised the highest ever starting loss of a Bundesliga Team. Only once a team was beaten with 6-0 at the beginning of the season. Ironically it was Bayern itself who lost 0-6 in the first match of the 1974/75 season against Kickers Offenbach :D

btw: This was the Bayern Team at that day (In bold are those who won the World Cup 74 with Germany only 6 weeks before )

Sepp Maier
Jupp Kapellmann
(didn't play in the final)
Georg Schwarzenbeck
Franz Beckenbauer

Johnny Hansen
Erwin Hadewicz
Rainer Zobel
Ulrich Hoeneß
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Gerd Müller
Klaus Wunder

Another defeat for St Pauli at Dresden today. The only side to have lost all 3 games. Worrying times for your neighbours, Dirk.

Your boys could do no better than a 1-1 draw at home to Ingolstadt yesterday, Cleber Reis gifting Hinterseer with the goal late on. Dortmund beat Mainz 2-1, Aubameyang quickly off the mark with a brace while Gladbach beat Leverkusen in the evening game. Deserved win I reckon, Bernd Leno had a blinder.
Looking forward to see how RB Leipzig fare in their first ever Bundesliga game at Hoffenheim later today. Neither side are particularly liked.

They'll make it soon out of the bottom. It was a 0-1. Very sad that the bloody Dynamos have won. I can't stand this clubs. Before the re-unification of Germany it was one of the clubs of the Volkspolizei. Today they have awful fans who behave sometimes like morons (especially at Dortmund a few years ago), some of them with right wing background. I know you should not condemn all fans for the bad behaviour of a few but..... :D

Hey, you didn't mention that my Lower Saxonian Club Eintracht Braunschweig bombed the "Club" out of LS, 6-1 and now they are the only team in the 2nd Bundesliga with a perfect record 3 Games 3 Wins 10-2 Goals. Hannover still second but Stuttgart already at third. I would be very pleased if that would be the standings at the end of the season ;)

Yeah, I already sold my Audi today. Don't want to drive with a car from Ingolstadt anymore

Gladbach with a good performance, Leverkusen wasn't bad either. Good match. With such a performance the "Fohlen" even have a chance against ManCity in the CL but they are too inexperienced internationally.

Yes, they are not particularly liked, especially the Red Bull Club (although it's now official RasenBallsport due to the renaming but RB is still the connection). But the fans of Hoffenheim have a lot of humour . They had a banner " Grüsse an die 4 Sky Zuschauer" (Greetings to the 4 people who watch this match on Sky) because they mocked a bit that nobody outside Leipzig and Hoffenheim would watch the (ironically named) "El Plastico" but in fact the match was a hit for Sky Germany.

edit: Just read at kicker.de that the coach of RB Salzburg (In Austria the club is still named Red Bull) is very frustrated about the "transfer politics" inside the "RB Club Family". In a time span of only 1 year RB Salzburg has lost 8 players to RB Leipzig

Nice touch from Darmstadt - they've changed their stadium name for this season, in memory of a fan who passed away recently.

Schalke 04 vs Bayern München 0-2

Normal result you may say but Schalke didn't deserve to lose this one. They played good for nearly 80 minutes and had some good chances. But that's the problem against Bayern. When you don't convert the chances they'll hurt you in the end and they did exactly that. Lewandowski in the 81st and Kimmich in stoppage time

edit: Nearly forgotten to mention the Friday matches of the 2nd Bundesliga:

Aue vs Eintracht Braunschweig 0-2 :bdick:

Stuttgart vs Heidenheim 1-2 WTF

So, Braunschweig stil with a perfect starting record 4 Matches - 4 Wins

Some fan groups did boycott it but Dortmund sold out the available away tickets in minutes nonetheless. But those Dortmund Fans who made the journey into (the former) "Dark Germany" maybe wished afterwards they had boycotted this game, too :bg1:

What a crap matchday this was: HSV lost in the last 10 minutes against Plastic Club #1 and later Dortmund lost against Plastic Club #2 :bang:

Can't speak for Gladbach but for Dortmund, I doubt it. They tried very hard to break down RBL and just couldn't manage.

I don't think so, either. RB Leipzig was astonishingly good and Dortmund really had no concept this time. Very few chances which was very odd for an offensive team like Borussia. The Scot Oliver Burke came after 70 minutes and got an assist for the goal in the 89th.

This matchday was one for the Saxonian Clubs because in the 2nd Bundesliga Saxony beats Lower Saxony or better Dresden won at Hannover with 2-0. Damn, I really loathe these Saxonian clubs, RB Leipzig for being "promoted due to power drinks" and Dynamo because of some of their fans who really have a right wing background and Dynamo was one of the former GDR clubs under control of the Volkspolizei (the other one Dynamo Berlin was a Stasi-Club). Yes, I know they are now for over 25 years "freed" of it but in the west of Germany we don't like them nonetheless ;)
