Congratulations on your FA Trophy runners up medals......... ;)
The FA trophy winners medals will look good next to your play-off final runners up medals don't you think??

If we manage to beat Nantwich then i think there will be a vast number like me who will view the result in the final as a sideshow to the actual important thing of appearing at Wembley for the first time in our history.

You can't properly wave your willy as a top tinpotter until you've won the FAT. Grimsby are missing that key piece of silverware.

Nah we are going all out for the big one this year, the Lincolnshire Cup.
As long as we win that than the season is a success no matter what lol.

Cup semi-final day for us Shaymen. Which still seems unbelievably weird to say. Nantwich Town chairman thinks the crowd will be 1500 despite their last game being 800 and our chairman has generously predicted we will take 800. Fans don't seem to be being putt off bythe fact that if you arrive after half one and don't have a seated ticket (or are 7 foot tall) you'll likely see next to bugger all.

A few of us are rightly worried that the small group of Green St wannabes will disrupt what should be a great day as the match has been made pay on the day and is not segregated.

Half a dozen scrotes? Ought to be a simple matter of self policing by the other Shaymen in attendance. If nothing else, get the little twats on video for the courts to deal with. I can't be bothered with this pointless cup so good luck from me today. :ds:

Went to the game today, Halifax disgraced themselves and caused trouble at the game from start to finish, really thought they'd changed their ways?

The result was fair, they had a little too much for a spirited Nantwich side who gave their all

A small number of about 25 fans disgraced themselves out of over 1000 away supporters. But i agree that is 25 too many.
Couple of other points though. Prior to trouble starring it was fairly obvious where the trouble makers were congregated with their oh so subtle stone island clobber. Yet the 8 police officers in the ground decided to mill around by the snack bar and turnstiles so when it all kicked off they had to run half way round the ground.
Secondly Nantwich supporters started to try having a go at a 15 year old girl in our car pool and also set off a flare right under the noses of plod and stewards towards the end. They were no saints by any means.

Enjoyed the game though and had a laugh with the Nantwich fans i was sat in front of. Awesome food too.

When Mansfield last came to the Shay, in the FA Cup 4QR, some of their following intimidated our fans outside the ground, and invaded the pitch at the final whistle because they managed to shade past a team two divisions below them. Not sure what sort of higher ground AdamStag is trying to hold.

Actually, did I talk to you at all Adam? I was the one stood on a railway sleeper in a blue and white hat. You were a Mansfield fan asking if we'd built our main stand yet. Spoke to many today and they were all spot on. One Nantwich official I was speaking to at the end even rushed to say that they seemed to have a few numpties contributing to the trouble too! I didn't see owt myself as I stay away from that.

It wasn't too well managed today but maybe Nantwich weren't to know. The capacity at Weaver Stadium is set at 3,500, and with 2,078 in there both stands were filled, ie. you couldn't even stand sideways in the terrace, and fans were three deep across much of the perimeter of the pitch, which was set slightly below the pitch. So a capacity crowd would mean people five or six deep on the hard standing? It's no disaster although a good half of the people in the ground had a bad view. I mean the alternative would be setting it at a 2,000 attendance all-ticket game, which would have put a few hundred off.

But segregation would have been wise. The turnstiles were meant to be so, but the ground wasn't. We get idiots, and it's a weird group. Today there was a coach of Leeds fans that came down, but we also have a bunch of year 10s that shared one of their mum's Strongbows the other day and are MAD4IT. Then the police come near them and they flap about pathetically. That this would happen was a certainty and these kids turn up if the trip's less than two hours away and they have a chance of seeing the other lot outside. The "opposing fans" even plot pubs to meet at.

Anyway I almost forgot to mention a game was on at the same time. First goal came at a marvellous time and we never looked back. Nantwich had all the assets of a team that can go far in competition. Aggression, sharp shooting, character. They made it a very good game to watch and got a lot of attacks together. Despite going in hard a few too many times, they were a very entertaining team to watch. For their level I think they're fantastic and would hope they can make a late surge for the playoffs too. Our keeper was kept very busy, and in the end he kept winding up out of position, which gave the home side a few good chances of pulling another back.

A few talking points that require repeated viewing. A Nantwich player arguably felled one of ours through on goal, and they scored half a minute later. Another Dabber slid headfirst into the hoardings, got up and appeared to headbutt a fan behind said hoardings, which got him a booking. The penalty was correct for me, and we won by making the better of our chances. Chief differences in physicality and speed.

Ace away day, too. It's a beauty of a town and the Black Lion pub is one of the best I've been in. It's a tiny place, takes two minutes to drive from one end to the other, but apparently there are a total of 32 pubs dotted around it. If they could somehow get into the Conference so I can investigate them I'd be a happy Pliny.

Fairly routine win for us today really. Paul Hurst left a few first teamers out and it was quite a poor game with neither keeper really troubled apart from our goal. Nice little set up at Bognor with a decent Sports Bar. We should really go on and finish the job next Saturday now.

Feel really bad for Nantwich, Halifax didn't out play them by a long shot but it almost seemed like the occasion got to the Nantwich players after each kick off. Halifax probably through now.

How many Yorkshire men would you guess that will be travelling to Wembley for the final?

Guesses on our forum of anything from 6-15k. More likely to be on the lower end of that.

We've now had two highly entertaining games against Nantwich. Perhaps more so for the neutral.

We opened them up magnificently with MacDonald's long run and Burrow's finish at the start. Three goals ahead, and the scene surely set for a rout. NOPE. Nantwich came back with round after round of attacks. We defended too deep, didn't track back very well, but watching them on the offensive was similar to the better sides in the Conference. I think they're nearing 120 goals for this season now and still have 13 league games to play, it's barmy how good they are going forward for their level. Licensed to thrill, aggressive, plucky. I was never particularly worried by the outcome and we eventually turned it on in the final quarter, but you could see why others were tense. It's not a great showcase to see your team losing at home to a glue league side, but the entertainment was there at least.

It really did feel like we were trying to fluff our lines at times, especially with the weakly taken penalty, and James' performance too in particular. Not wanting to choke, it felt more like we wanted to keep the game as close as possible for some reason. Plenty of frustrating moves. The conclusive goal was particularly tinpot, passed into their own net. Who gives a feck though, we're off to Wembley at last!!!

God I hope we get this right. Stay up ourselves, Grimsby get promoted, party stations for May 22nd. Get the whole town behind us like it's for the first time, a Halifax full of Halifax fans, my idea of fucking Heaven.

3,600 this morning. Not the urgency Hereford fans are feeling, plenty of coach parties and other groups allowing themselves to dally. I imagine the final numbers will be decided according to our fate at the end of the proper season.

We realistically will sell barely any until the playoffs/ league campaign is finished. Expect of flux of about 5-6k if we get promoted!

Will be nowhere near anything like that for us, i would guess anywhere between 4000 - 10000 depending on whether we have been promoted or not and even if we have, doubt we will get 10000 as for a lot of people money will have been spent on the play off final and a lot will not be able to do both.
Of everybody i've spoken to about it nobody cares about the Trophy final, all saying if we get to the play off final they will go but will not be going to the Trophy final either way, the same as me.

Apparently The Shaymen end is all but sold out but as we've only sold 4700, I presume this is because we will be all spread out on the day. :bdick:

Are you going to the final or do you believe the Trophy is a tinpot competition therefore not worthy of your presence?

The big question is, will Grimsby do an open top bus parade after winning this?

It goes without saying Tinpotfax will, even if they lose.
