Can see us resting most of our team apart from the back 4 as we don’t really have anyone to come in. Not expecting much, and think we will get beat. Very close to selling out, which will make the day more of an occasion. Nowt worse than 20k empty seats and an half arsed game being played out.

I bet thousands of season ticket holders don't turn up though.

I’d quite like a cup run really given we’re painfully midtable in the league so it’d make things interesting. Huddersfield at home tomorrow, I expect a weakened side but hopefully if we get through that we’ll get either a new lower league ground away or Arsenal away.

Make your mind up, cup run or arsenal away, highly unlikely you'll be getting a cup run if you get them away. It's garbage anyway, terrible dull stadium.

Hence why I said “or Arsenal away”, as I’d rather that than something like Leicester away where we’d still go out anyway, it’s a ground we’ve played at recently and a bit boring. I’ve been outside The Emirates never in, can’t moan about a 9,000(?) allocation and a weekend in London though, I don’t think it’d be garbage.

Old Trafford or anfield any day, 8.5k allocation at both of them too, guess you've not done them either?

Been to OT mate not Anfield, I’d be well happy with either of them, I love Manchester particularly for drinking but we’d get battered up at either of them. Arsenal’s reserves we could probably give a go.

Looking at Man City prediction line up for Sunday we are gonna be lucky to hold out double figures. At least it should be a good day out on the booze in Manchester anyways.

Arsenal is shit, but I can see why lower league clubs would like to play there.

How many seasons in the 2nd tier before Villa fans realise they're a lower league club?

Didn’t mean it to come across like that. We’ve played there so many times. That’s what I was getting at. Arsenal away for us, no one would give a fuck.

TBF I don't consider the Championship "lower league" sure it's not the PL, but throughout European football it's ranked 6th best in terms of fanbases and club sizes

it's the best 2nd tier league throughout Europe without a shadow of doubt

Thought it was ranked 4th? It's easily the best 2nd tier as you say. I'd say other than a few teams in each it's probably as good as French,Portuguese,Dutch top league's.

Even before villa got relegated, I always liked watching the championship. It’s rare I watch a prem game these days.

I've fallen out of love for the PL not sure if i'd change my mind if we actually ever got back there

things are certainly a lot different since we were in it

in 2004 we were probably the 7th or 8th biggest team in England now i'd say we are roughly 15th or so, obviously Man City have escalated into a bigger club and WEst Ham , Spurs etc

If you’re just making the numbers up, which would no doubt be the case, then it becomes pretty boring fast. Too much money nowadays. I’m not sure what the future holds exactly, but a super league will be the next step I’d have thought.

it can't sustain it's current levels for 70% of the clubs in the PL

I expect an implosion within 10-15 years tbh

1621 Spurs made the long journey to Prenton Park tonight. Not a bad result for them ;)

400 bought tickets and didn't bother going then. They are so good at times spurs, will get about 85 points this year and finish 3rd.

Yeah, was always going to be a few who wouldn’t bother going. Superb team, but can never quite get it right in terms of the finished article. Wouldn’t surprise me if they still haven’t won another league title in the next 10 years.

The new ground has actually cost them winning it for the simple fact they can't strengthen properly. A club certainly heading places though whilst they keep poch at least.

They are very close, but just unlucky that we have such good teams like City and Liverpool to compete with. They have overtaken Arsenal in terms of challenging for titles, and are in a much better position than Chelsea are. You can never discount Man Utd for long though. That year Leicester won the league, that was such a wasted chance, but Leicester were brilliant, and fortunate too.

Man Utd need a complete new defence and the right man will have them challenging again in no time. Anyway back on topic my predictions for upsets tommorrow.

Gills to beat cardiff
Bristol c to beat hudders
Barnsley to win away at Burnley.
Portsmouth to win at Norwich.
Derby draw with saints
Brum draw at west ham

Donny will beat us if they play a full strength side, I imagine we’ll have several youth players in the team.
