This game at the Arctic Stadium brings back memories, you can even see the slope in the pitch!!

Should be off although outside the area so giving the penalty probably saves him.

That chance at the end was very close possibly just onside.

You reckon? Thought it was offside tbh

If I was Cray, I’d rather have a pen and yellow than a freekick and red tbh

Ref probably just guessed really !

Pretty comfortable second half for Charlton after the penalty before HT.

Given as we eat League 1 teams for breakfast when it comes to the FA Cup I guess the Oxford fans are absolutely shitting themselves at having to play us?

No?

Oh ok.

We have opened up a couple of blocks of seats for sale in the south and east stand. Feel free to bring about 3,500, you can fill the North stand

Erm, I’m gonna hazard a guess and say we might not quite sell those out.

Cray Valley gave us a real good game again last night against a full strength side (barring internationals). They were excellent in the first half but fortunately for us couldn't keep up the intensity in the second and 6-1 was harsh.

Blackett Taylor and Leaburn were kept largely quiet which a lot of L1 defences struggle with.

As for their penalty..
An abysmal refereeing decision. It was definitely a free kick and a red card although not 100% sure what Cray would have preferred. Onto Gillingham where we usually play rubbish

My reaction to this game is ***shrugs shoulders*** although I'll likely be there to watch whatever happens.

Think it was the best decision for both sides, even if it was completely wrong, Lino more to blame than the ref though I’d say.

Obviously keeping 11 on the pitch was good for us but I honestly don’t think they would have scored if not for that penalty so it gave them and Lisbie their moment.

That’s a good effort. I think we got away with one last season (or the year before) in the league where we named an ineligible player as an unused sub. Fortunately we lost anyway haha.

Who was the player, out of interest?
From bbc:

“Forward Aiden Marsh was on loan at National League side York City when the first game took place on 3 November, before being recalled three days later. The 20-year-old then started in the replay in West Sussex on 14 November.”

Oh dear.

Never understand how this happens though, surely there are officials who look at the team sheet before every game and check for eligibility??

Error by Barnsley but its a stupid rule, if he isn't cup tied he is their player so should be allowed to play.

Does seem a bit harsh.

I think in the Bristol Johns Paint LDV trophy you can even play players you have out on loan, sure we did with a couple of younger ones out on loan to non league clubs before.

That said rules are rules and Barnsley have made the error, assume he didnt play for York in it?

He didn't play for York in the FA Cup, but the issue is over registration. The FA Cup is quite strict over when players are registered and at the time of the original tie he was registered with York. He'd have been perfectly fine to play in the second round.

100% Why its a rule though i dont know. Do they still have the same refs for replays?

Its Chesterfield away for us on the Sunday.

Chesterfield go into the game as favourites, our form has been patchy for about 6 weeks now - we just keep drawing games and not taking/creating chances when we're on top - Tuesday night was a prime example, dominated possession for the whole game but needed a lucky own goal to rescue a draw.

We're not actually a terrible all round team, we just can't score or construct many good chances from our possession. Famous last words........

We'll put out our strongest possible team, injuries have taken their toll on us a bit - thankfully the end of Saturday/Tuesday for us now until the end of the year. Aaron Drinan has injured his hamstring again and will likely be out for 4-6 weeks again. Wellens has said we need to win this to stand a better chance of having money to spend in January.

I wouldn't be suprsied if this was a draw, thats what I would put my money on.

Stevenage away, drew there 0-0 a few weeks back and should of won, obviously so far we've been a different animal in the cups which has kept Crosby in a job but this is a tough one, that said possibly a P-P with the frost forecast.

Oddly they are charging £22 a ticket so dont expect many fans there!

With the fixture backlog we have I can see this going to a replay which would really batter us fixture wise with the Carabao QF and Pizza Cup games this month.

You should definitely prioritise the cups though..

I am at the stage where it may be beneficial now to go out a couple of them to allow us to focus on the league.

Notts County away tonight and we go into with…
George Nurse, Elliot Thorpe, Elliot Bennett, Jason Sraha, Morgan Feeney, Tom Flanagan, Brandon Fleming, Taylor Perry, Ryan Finnigan, Tom Bayliss, Kieran Phillips… all out injured. That’s ELEVEN first team players out. I’ve never known us to have so many injuries in all the years watching Salop, can anybody else in this division beat eleven?

So we’ll have about 5 or 6 youth players on the bench with our Sunday league reserve keeper. Anybody who’s betting, lump on Notts County. I struggle to see how we can do anything with what’s available and having just played Tuesday night away at Exeter. Gonna be a case of strikers playing in midfield again.

All things considered, I have to eat my own words. In the current circumstances, Matt Taylor is doing an unbelievable job to have us in 12th position when we have next to no players available. He’s growing on me.

Anyway, tonight…

Notts County 3-1 Salop (Mata)

The fog is rendering this York v Wigan game almost impossible to watch. Can barely tell what’s happening. Reminds me of one night we played Palace in a cup replay in 96 and you could barely see 20 yards ahead and were left relying on crowd noise from the other end to tell what had happened.
