Are there any other teams yet to have a peno this season?
It seems mad, I can’t remember a season when we haven’t had one

No, just Vale. We’re the only other club that hasn’t scored a penalty because we missed the one we’ve had. Actually we’ve not scored a penalty in the League since 2020 - missed all four last season. Happy days.

He’s only sent four players off all season… two of them were that night! Couldn’t really argue the second one but don’t think we’ve ever seen a clip of the first one to know either way on that.

It’s not ideal with the first game in mind though, we will have to be squeaky clean!

Both were stonewall reds so dunno what the Rovers fans are complaining about. It's their own poor discipline that cost them the game.

I don't think we've scored or possibly even had a penner in the league all season MadJohn can you confirm that?

Remember one season in the National League we had 16 or something and still finished lower half.

Nicky Featherstone scored one at home to Walsall in August and one at home to FGR in November.

Pretty sure we’ve not scored a penalty this season either. We’ve had two and missed them both - vs Carlisle and Exeter at home in March. How crucial they could be now.

Burton in the cup and Salford at home both stone wall but otherwise not really a lot.

We are due one! I don’t even know who our taker is!

Obviously if he was fit it’d be Conlon. Did have a look who took one in the shootout in the Pizza game at Rotherham and that was no help as Brad Walker who took the next kick is now out injured. Got to think it would be one of Proctor or Wilson or possibly Hussey if he was on the pitch. In summary not got a clue who it would be either.

Have a good journey to any Rovers fans attending. Believe unfortunately the Bulls Head which is normally an away friendly pub is home fans only due to the amount of people expected today. Think coming from the train a number of visiting teams fans have gone into Stoke town (in which case go to the White Star) or Tommy Cheadles at the ground should be ok to go in.

Bahamboula missed one at Ipswich too.

0 out of 3 in all competitions. Not good.

I’ve not enjoyed any of the last couple of games, very nervous, win and it’s one foot in the door, lose and with their run in it’s probably Bristol Rovers to lose.

Still shocked by Saturday's performance that's despite being a confirmed pessimist who has been under no illusions since our last meeting with Oldham and draw that day, 5-5. Fair play to Barrow, they played really well, fully deserved victory. Still can't describe what I witnessed, a bad day at the office is one thing. This was worse than that because it looked like no one was remotely capable of taking any responsibility. Mentally I think we have collapsed. Not helped by the manages fag packet game set-up and tactics. I had us getting 3 points from our last six games, now revised down to two.

Today I'm upgrading my original expectation to a draw. because simply there has to be a reaction from the players. Oldham are more than capable of tearing us another new, if there's any room left for that!

Enough of this optimism:pond:

Lovely day for it! I think you will win if you have your shooting boots on. We give away a fair number of chances per game but have a top keeper that regularly saves us.
Our CB Connor Taylor will be right up for this as he is on loan from Stoke, same for Glenn Whelan if he gets on.
Antony Evans playing would be a massive boost for us, he is our version of your guy Conlon.
Should be a decent game I just think you have better strikers which will prove decisive.

Either way it’s going to showcase both clubs should be holding their own higher and us second teams in our city hopefully can both meet next season a level higher. Enjoy the trip should be some atmosphere!

Not sure if that says more about your recent support or your potential. We can take ~40k on a big day out at Wembley, but I don’t think there are many (any?) league 2 teams we’d more than double our home average against in a league game?

Certainly not at the Mem anyway

Not sure on the numbers but the fanzone right now is rammed and all the boozers in town not much different as a guide.

Yeah im in the fan zone, chocker at the moment.

Apparently we nearly took pay on the day off for Rovers fans as they were worried home fans would go in the away end so suggests it’s going to be close for the Bycars as well.

Bit of a few things, fans had become disillusioned under Smurf but Carol and Kevin have done wonders to turn the club around on the pitch but as importantly off it. It’s a family club again and they were unlucky in the first season as the covid occurred just as we were breaking into the play off picture and then obviously a year behind closed doors (which wasn’t great).

Fans feel connected to DC and this team though , it’s been us against the world in it together from fans to tea lady to striker which is credit. This is the most exciting time for Vale since the glory era of the 1990s.

If we do fail to win promotion you at least know as a fan the club will do all it can to make it happen next season rather than flog the players and have to start again.

Yeah saw that. Huge queues at the turnstiles outside the Paddock. Why the stewards haven’t opened the gates earlier I don’t know as this will just cause a backlog later.

Matt Jay rested today, no surprise. Still a strong line up. Surprised Spearing and Maynard aren't playing for Tranmere

Just seen the team, praying that Rowberry is a tactical genius.

Haynes is back in in place of Lewis, a good player but he had to be subbed off at half time in the first game against Sutton because Ajiboye was skinning him with ease. Dolan also back in the team. He is a wise head but paired up with Bennett that's not a lot of pace in central midfield/defence. Day also keeps his place, a good shot stopper but Townsend is better if we are playing out from the back.

Fingers crossed!

Piergianni suspended. Our only striker (a youth academy graduate) out injured. Nicky Adams on the bench presumably knackered. Bahamboula who was told he wouldn’t play again in the line up. Desperate, desperate times.

We've made six changes. Probably the slowest team we've ever put out. Can see a comfortable Colchester win, not that I'm bothered. Hughes is clearly looking at players like Lavery and Threlkeld to see what they can offer...which shouldn't take more than five minutes really.
