Looking forward to this game, not started with a home game in a couple seasons.

The signing of Richie Bennett last week has increased the optimism amongst our fans for the season, but he probably won't start this one. I think we've a decent chance of getting into the playoffs once again,

I don't know too much about Swindon, but I'm surprised most people on here have them top 7. A couple of decent summer signings will make them a solid team no doubt, and probably won't be in a relegation battle.

I hope we get off to a good start with a few tricky fixtures in August, so a win in this one would be very nice. The club haven't really promoted this game at all (shock), so maybe just over 6000 in attendance.

2-1 Lambe, S. Miller, Mullin

We have signed 10 new players and have a whole new coaching setup so playing us first is probably beneficial for you as we will be top 5 come may.
I think we will get another 4 in by the end of august. I still think we will be good enough for a point nect saturday so a 1 1 draw is my prediction.

Will be heading up for this one even though it's a bit of a trek. Still, probably better in August than a Tuesday night in Feb.

Cautiously optimistic for the season, but expect to not know half (at least) of the team that start this game as haven't been to any games in pre-season.

Would be happy with a point.

Any recommendations for away fans before the game?

We won't get into the playoffs. We only just scraped in last season and we've weakened.

After the way we played against Blackburn I'm a little more optimistic than I was, but still haven't forgot the previous performance at Halifax.

I don't think we're relegation candidates like I thought a few weeks ago, but at the same time our squad is very shallow so a few injuries could turn us into the whipping boys of the league. I'm seeing a fairly dull mid table finish, but that's what happens when you don't strengthen after a playoff push.

As for this match, no idea what to expect from Swindon, but any team should score past us. I'm going for a draw here. 2-2

Well unless it's a particularly high attendance there probably won't be segregated pubs, so you should have free rein of the city should you go for the centre, and if travelling by train you'll find yourself in the busiest area for pubs and bars right out of the station, Near the ground most fans prefer the Beehive on Warwick Road, but the Rugby Club next door to the stadium or Foxy's bar at the stadium are often popular with away fans.

Been in the rugby club myself a couple of times, well worth a visit.
The bar in the end away used to do spirits!

I've put me money where me mouth is and stuck £50 @ 11/5 for a Swindon win.

Saw us at Woking yesterday and was very impressed with the 2nd half showing - 1st half, not so much.

Anyways, just about anything has got to be better than last season's shite.

So apart from our keeper Vigoroux and possibly John Goddard and Luke Norris we will have pretty much a totally brand new starting XI on Saturday.

Not going to read anything into our pre-season results but David Flitcroft knows the lower leagues and we have built from the back bringing in solid reliable lower league players that he knows and trusts. We will be much fitter than last season and probably more direct but I am confident of a top 10 finish. I think we are probably still a little short on quality up top and I think we'll be bringing in more wingers and strikers (possibly on loan) but we have the makings of a solid enough first XI and a decent subs bench.

Carlisle don't appear to have been busy in the transfer window and I am not sure who they have lost since they lost in the play-offs but I reckon we'll get off the mark with a score draw on Saturday.

I'll be in the south of Italy sweating my schnuts off at a wedding which starts at 4pm UK time so hopefully by the time it has finished I'll be celebrating 1/3 points rather than a feeble defeat.

At least football is back!

We have sold 380 advance tickets and i would expect another 200 to buy on the gate so not a bad turnout considering the shut we have witnessed for 2 seasons[emoji106]

Even though there won't be any trouble fitting you all in, I don't think I could handle travelling the length of the country without my ticket already being in my pocket.

To be fair a lot of the POTD fans will be Northern based fans so not quite as bad, but I know what you mean. We've had our tickets posted to us.

The only chance we have of making the play offs is if we have ZERO injuries to key players all season, but our defence still looks poor with no real improvement and if it was an average defence at least then we would have a good chance at the play offs as the rest of our team looks good.

Whatever the result is on Saturday I just hope we dont concede any embarrasing goals otherwise it's just going to be most of last season all over again.

Well one thing I can confidently predict is how we'll line up at the back.

Having only two centre backs and two full backs in the squad, the defence somewhat picks itself.

T.Miller Parkes Ellis Grainger

Don't you dare injure any of these Swindon.

I am pretty sure Liddle will be starting at the back, not Ellis.

Almost certain it'll be Liddle, has he missed a game since he joined?

And if we're being pedantic, Parkes will be on the left

Unfortunately, with Dunne and Linganzi as our 2 'get stuck in' merchants, I can't guarantee that!

Feels good, at last, to have a couple of right horrible bastards playing for us.

Ellis should really be on the left if he were to start, I don't know whether Parkes can play RCB but I've only seen Ellis play LCB so I presume you think Liddle at RCB and Parkes LCB.

I would actually start Liddle over Miller at RB... think he's pretty good in that position.

You will suit this league just fine then, a mix of horrible bastards and quality players is usually what is needed to succeed down here.

So important to get the balance right. The horrible bastard players are very useful in the winter months when the flair type players will fanny around and go missing in games.

Wish I could make this but working Saturday mornings makes away games a real rarity for me.

Love opening day, this has been one long ass summer for someone who hates cricket and golf. Funny how now matter how shit we are football cannot return quick enough.

Time for the real stuff to begin. Red Army!

Don't think you can single Lambe out for criticism as almost all of our players were shite in the winter months last year.

Seriously though, he started off really well for us early on then was anonymous until around April/May. He must only do well when it is not cold and the pitches are fine.

Are you one of these people that thinks Messi would struggle on a cold night away at Stoke?

As Shoddy says, the whole team turned to shit from December onwards until about April.

I don't know but I wouldn't want Messi playing for us anyway as he's too small.
