We're in a pretty good run of form at the minute, winning 6 out of our last 8 games in all competitions, including a comprehensive and deserved win against League One Oxford. However, last time out in the league, we had a poor result against Swindon. It was never a 3-0 game as there was nothing in it, however we looked strangely lethargic and not as up for it as some other games recently.

We're still deep in the mire and need to pick up 2 or 3 wins in succession to start climbing towards mid table. This particular game is difficult to call, as Newport were abysmal for much of last season and then had an amazing run and looked to have kept the momentum into this season. They've got Amond and Nouble who are decent players at this level and look to provide us with a physical test. They've also got the scissor king himself, Sean Rigg, but I believe he is mainly a sub.

I'd be happy with a draw here as it seems that Newport are a pretty confident outfit at home. As long as we get people close to Pope and get balls in the box to him then we always have a chance of scoring. He's the best header of a ball in the entire football league in my opinion. I suspect we might use Montano again, as he was better in the midweek cup game and other than that I wouldn't imagine there will be much change.

First meeting against the reborn Newport County but of course the original club holds a place in Port Vale history as the opponents in the first league fixture at Vale Park in 1950 and not to forget our last league meeting with them the 6-1 with Andy Jones getting 5!

Another tough test and have to treat them the same as we did Oxford, with 6 wins in 8 and on the back of the best performance this season in that game confidence should be high. A win here would go a long way towards pushing us up the table although a point here if we can follow it up with a home win against Barnet wouldn't be a bad outcome.

Get the balls into Pope in his current form and we have a chance of getting the three points.

2-1 Pope and Worrall

Tough game, but winnable on current form. A draw would be good, but I think we can win this.

1-2

Looking forward to tomorrow night - usually a tidy atmos under lights on a Friday.
Couple of injury doubts for us in O’Brien and Tozer. Labadie def out, if all 3 are injured we will struggle.
Other than that rest of squad good to go. McC, Nouble and Amond to all get a goal in a comfortable 3 - 1 Home win.

I've only seen us win 2 games this season Crawley away and Cheltenham at home. All these wins recently against Oxford Crewe castle under 21s Morecambe and Exeter I missed and I attended the 2 losses against Grimsby and Swindon at home so I'm a jinx. Only going cos it's a new ground for me to visit.

I haven’t seen us win since AFC Wimbledon last season must be about ten games now!

We should beat barnet at home a week on Saturday if your able to attend that but knowing us we won't.we are so inconsistent you can never predict any of our results.

Yeah I’m at that one! We’ve become more consistent with six wins in eight but have that shocker in us still!

Gutted to be missing this as 1 of 2 teams in this league I've not been to, dam them for moving it to a Friday night.

I

I Doubt he is match fit.

Probably no worse off than Regis... although he might feature. Assume we may keep the same line up at Friday, tempting to ditch Kay for Regis mind after his performance on Tuesday all be it against a changed Crewe side.

Decent point that. Nice to see Forrester get on the scoresheet and more notably not go off injured.

Decent point in the end away from home, sounds like we were below par but great for Forrester to get a second in three days after his 18 month injury issues.

Dreadful goal for us to concede that! Pissing around on the flank deep in our own half and losing it.

Poor fayre last night tbh. Draw was the right result, neither side did enough to win it. 2 mid table teams come start of May.

Anderson had a good game at the back for us. Any point away from home is good it looks like we are a better away side than home side as we have only picked up 4 points from our home games so far. If Forrester can stay fit he would be in league one but no doubt in about a months time he will be injured again shame really as he is a good player. 2 black lads upfront for Newport are good strong players dont know if they score many though but there a better side than the team they had that struggled last season.
