I can see why Fleetwood are now 5th . Being in the same league now for a few seasons , It is certainly growing and will continue to do so. Some of our fans won't admit it but we are separated by 7 miles and it is fantastic to have two Fylde clubs in league one. One fixture I look forward .

Not surprised MK fans dislike Swindon. We were some of the most vocal when the whole farce happened.

You know when sometimes you remember something really embarrassing that you did or said from your youth - it really makes you shudder doesn't it...I think most of those Imps had been fans for about 2 years...

However, we were averaging a decent amount before we had that terrible stint in the Conference (between 3.5-5k) when we never finished above half way. There aren’t many clubs being that bad that wouldn’t seriously have problems with attendances week in week out, being turned over by the likes of Carshalton etc.

Blackpool Preston is probably top 10/15 Derbies for tasty-ness in the UK.

Gets interesting on match days for those.

Don't really go in for rivalries, although I do like a bit of light hearted banter with my Blackpool relatives, friends and other forum members. I do dislike Southport due to issues in past years. For me fans that support their LOCAL club are just the same and as passionate as myself.

What does pee me off are the ones who support the high profile clubs but have no affinity with the locality with their only visits to the ground being via Sky or the local pub.

The Swindon Town and Gillingham rivalry is an unusual one considering the distance between in miles, yet the events of a meeting at Priestfield in March 1979 set the tone for future years.

With the sides seeking promotion from Division Three, Swindon’s visit culminated in a fiery encounter. Gillingham scored two in the opening 25 minutes, only for Town to make it 2-2 before half time and take the draw. Gills fans were incensed when goalscorer Westwood was sent off for foul and abusive language, then later by the antics of Town defender Ray McHale, which culminated in a Gills fan running ont the pitch to punch and knock out the referee.

A few weeks later Gillingham visited the County Ground and McHale was centre of attention again after a tackle on him earned a red card. Then with Town 3-0 up Gills players turned on McHale for some retribution. The game eventually finished 3-1 and as the players returned to the dressing room, there was a fracas in the tunnel. Swindon coach Wilf Tranter was hospitalised with facial injuries after being punched. Two Gills players ended up in court over the incident, both were acquitted – and the season ended with both teams missing out on promotion – the Gills by a single point, which the Kent side blamed on Swindon.

Add to that we stuffed them in the play offs in the 80s when, at one time, they were oh so close to winning. Funny as fuck, that. Selhurst Park that evening is one of my favourite memories!

It’s the sort of thing that happens to clubs that have a history.

You may get one eventually.

Wasn't really a stuffing as we 1-1 in the 2nd leg with about 15 minutes left. You then scored to make it 2-2 on agg, and there wasn't the away goals rule in the final for some reason, despite having KO'd Sunderland by that method.

I can only assume this list doesn't include ex-league clubs? I've never met a Dale fan who considers Wigan our rivals. Same with Accy, though one of my best mates is an Accy fan so I always look forward to those games and hope we beat them (which we usually do).

You'd have to include Stockport and Halifax above those two despite having not played either for over 10 years. On a non-local level Notts County also really disliked by a lot of our fanbase who still feel cheated out of the league 2 title by Notts in the Munto Finance era (despite us also finishing behind Bournemouth as well and our own capitulation meaning we lost a 14 point lead over County in the run in...).

I thought I might take this thread seriously, but then I read it through and realised the person who started it is a poundshop wum. With a big chip on his shoulder.

We don’t have any rivals, so erm, yeah.

You're going to have to explain that one....if anything I've posted is considered 'WUM' material then you're easily wound up.

You have an American Football team in your bio on a UK football forum, that's all we need to know.

And ??? You have a franchise on your bio so why shouldn`t I? Except mine has been in the same city for over 80 years whereas your`s probably won`t be.
