That was the longest month in my life, I sure hope the wait of suspense and need is worth it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for Peru, Lib. Would be great to see them in Russia 2018 instead of the bloody Argentinians. Hopefully both, Peru and Chile, will qualify for #4 and the #5 playoff spot.

That sounded better in your head, didn't it?

All due respect to Salty, but I'm 99% sure we'd batter Scotland now. They were supposedly favourites to win the world cup in 1978, and they lost to a better team in Peru.

I'd bet Salty remembers ya old bastard ;)

Fair enough, but "we beat you in 1978" doesn't seem very convincing.

He probably does, I hear he had a pet dinosaur.

Don't remember me of the World Cup 1978. The Austrians are still wanking about it ;).

btw: Scotland favourite of winning the World Cup? ...In a "Bizarro-Universe" maybe ;) (yeah I know they had class players at that time but hey, world cup winning and Scotland? Anyway, I better stop otherwise I'll summon.....

, and they lost to a better team in Peru.

...yeah and this better team was "battered" later by Argentina 6-0 , very dubious because it was just the result Argentina needed to advance to the finals instead of Brazil. So better not open this pandora's box WC1978 ;)

I was around 1 at the time of the 78 world cup so no I don't remember it. First one I do was 86, which we qualified for also.

They seemed to believe they were favourites, and don't remind me of the 6-0. We were excellent in the first 30 minutes then just fell apart.

I saw Peru a few years back and they did play some nice stuff, and definitely would've beat us comfortably back then. Seen them a few times in these qualifiers though and I think the gap would be less so this time.

When did you watch them? We were awful at the start of these qualifiers but are playing top football now.

Anyways the lineup is supposedly going to be this:

Caceda

Corzo - Rodriguez - Araujo - Trauco

Tapia - Yotun

Farfan - Peña - Flores

Guerrero

Has Sterling got some dodgy photos of someone to keep getting selected for England?

If results stay as they are, we top our group. We may be playing the most boring football imagineable but we are about to qualify with a game to spare.

Footballs coming home... garbage tonight but job done. We need to improve massively and the two friendlies against Germany and Brazil will be good testers, have to hope we are drawn in a poor group.

Knowing us we'll do it on Sunday and draw fucking Italy in the playoffs. I still remember flukey Christian Panucci...

Blimey that was hard watching!

So dull in the main with no-one really showing much in attack apart from Rashford and of course Kane popped up at the end.

A better side would have punished us on the break.

Oh well we always get there so just have to see who knocks us out this time...

Funny fact: Norn Iron conceded only 5 goals in 9 World Cup Qualifiers, all from Germany, today it was a 1-3 after losing in Hannover 0-2. Sunday we'll finish this endless WC Qualifiers with 10 wins from 10 matches.
Likeable crowd at Windsor Park. Keep my fingers crossed for Northern Ireland that they'll win their playoff match. And of course I hope that Scotland will hold the #2 spot in the last match.

edit: I don't want to forget to congratulate England for qualifying. Although it was already (nearly) clear before the match. Anyway, it's good to have you in Russia, too.
