Think we are going to line up the way we did for our final friendly but with Bennett over Saiss at CB.

Live on BT sport so can fully embrace being a premier league fan as have zero intentions of attending any game in person.

Why?

Also I'd take a draw for our first game. Going to be a brilliant atmosphere on Saturday, cannot wait.

Dendoncker - Coady - Boly
Doherty --------------------- Castro
Neves - Moutinho
Costa ------------------ Jota
Jimenez
Wolves 1-1 Everton (Jimenez + Richarlison)

The cost of a single football match and associated travel and time commitment is just too great for me. Whilst my missus is part time too I pay all the nursey costs and that is a season ticket amount of money per month!

Ah, I understand. Just thought you meant that you didn't want to attend out of choice rather than other reasons.

I grew up watching non league most weeks from about 10 or was at Old Trafford with my dad watching Utd from 12, often both once Sunday games kicked in so I really miss live football, wasn't too bad whilst I was playing still on Sat's but it's worse now I will be in my 3rd season of retirement.

Don't miss it when it's either cold or pissing it down mind.

Many games at Molineux were horrible last season. Remember the 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland in December, was -5 and I left my gloves at home... I was buying bovril just to keep my hands warm, had no intention of drinking it

Wolves 1 Everton 2 is my forecast. Very interested to see how Wolves do in this league having brought in so many players, they may rattle some cages or they may exemplify the folly of bussing in an entire new team (painful memories of when Spurs blew a load of money on new players after selling Bale). Whatever, great Saturday afternoon entertainment! :bg:

Commentators fallen into a cliche trap here, saying Wolves too deep for remaining patient when one down a then lauding Everton for similar deep possession.

I don’t think that’s a sending off.

So how were Wolves? Got in from the villa and managed to catch the second half of Derby Leeds(don't have BT). Seems a decent result for both teams all considered.

Looked a tad nervy at times and a bit slow. You could see that a few were caught out by that half second quicker pace needed at times. Mcmanman very critical of the backwards passing although that's the style of control and keeping the ball moving, plenty to work on but still a decent amount of promise.

Joao Moutinho confirmed for £5m. Meanwhile 5 minutes before Everton signed Richarison for £50m. I know who I'd rather have.

The same guy who has done nothing since November, or a guy who has won more trophies in his career than most clubs have won in their existance. Your constant anti Wolves stance is embarrassing.

Oops.

Moutinho had a good game though. So did Richarlison, but he started last season well before fading away for the majority of the season. Maybe wait a while before getting too excited, it's a long season.

Didn't watch but these are the sort of circumstances whereby as a newly promoted side you simply must take the opportunity when it's offered to you on a plate. At home first game of the season & opposition down to ten men - apart from Cardiff there won't be many better chances of three points - massively disappointing from a Wolves perspective, Everton will take this.

Didn't watch but...

Yes, you didn't watch the game so you clearly have no clue on what you're talking about. Everton were much harder to break down after going down to 10, and in all honesty it didn't show we had the extra man. The difference of quality being in the Championship and the Premier League shows. A draw was a fair result.

If you're going to construct a decent opinion from watching the game then I'm all ears and happy to engage in a debate. If you're going to post some generic response that all teams who have a man advantage should win 100% of the time then go and talk crap somewhere else, preferably down in your own division.

Are you actually saying that having a man sent off doesn't hinder you?

Crikey

I am saying teams that go down to 10 men are usually harder to break down since they tend to defend in more numbers and to try and hold the result (they were winning when Jagielka was shown red).

When it's 11 vs 11 they showed more attacking intent, which also in turn left space behind their midfield for our attacking players to take advantage of. We didn't have much luck doing this when they went down to 10 as they closed up shop.

Was a bit underwhelmed by Wolves. Was expecting more from a team who did as well as they did last season. I think they gave Everton too much respect personally.

Different manager obviously but that was the same Everton side (bar Richarlison) that struggled last season and they played a good chunk of the match with 10 men.

Think it will take time for some of the players to gel. We still have Dendoncker and Adama Traore to slot into the first XI. Agree that we showed them too much respect. It was a Premier League debut for most of our players today so it felt like going into the unknown. One big thing i noticed is how small mistakes are punished in this league. We got away with a few defensive cock ups last season but quality of the PL will prove costly to mistakes this time around.

So what you're effectively saying is every team from now on should reduce themselves to ten men when playing Wolves?

Here's me thinking you scored two goals subsequent to the sending off, the first of which only four minutes after the red card was given. If that's the definition of closing up shop I'd be very worried if I were an Everton fan.

Every team should reduce themselves to playing 10 men against us... What? I have literally no idea how you have arrived to that conclusion from my post.

Your initial post says you're worried about Wolves that we can't beat 10 men and your most recent post is saying you worry for Everton because they conceded 2 goals whilst having 10 men. Do you realise your contridiction?

You've spent the whole summer screaming this wouldn't be an issue? :dk:

I have? Where?

Wolves had the hardest fixture of the promoted sides and got a point, played okay mainly, we have Leicester and the. Man City up so today's point and some nervy apprehension is understandable.

Mostly happy VL, been a tad nervy as 4 seasons in the prem resulting in finishing bottom twice will do that to you!

Your kickback to my opinion that it's two points lost for Wolves was to say it's harder for them to score against ten men. My worry for Everton was in response to you trying to back up your initial kickback. Now you scored twice when you were playing against ten so that obviously isn't the case and if that was Everton shutting up shop then given the crime statistics of the local area they'll lose all their stock if they're not careful.

Unless you're playing a top team like Citeh failing to win against ten men for the majority of the game is a missed opportunity at this level.
