Whereas the stance is childish, maybe it would be easier for clubs just to charge the same for their club to do the same. Should equal things out, though at a needless expense to both parties.

The conference is littered with ridiculous little clubs like that, why you'd have that attitude I don't know.

Maybe it's Bourne from the league? Like I feel dreadfully sorry for Sutton with their issue over the pitch - whereas I appreciate it entails authorities higher than that of the conference, it still full on decisions no-one can understand

Bury and Rochdale to come down, Oldham and Fleetwood to join them would be nice but looking unlikely. MK Dons, Wimbledon, Walsall and Northampton don't spark much enthusiasm..

Not too bothered who comes up, maybe Wrexham and Macclesfield.

First occasion in three seasons that clubs from Gloucestershire and Lincolnshire will not be involved in promotion from Conference.
For past two seasons clubs from both counties were only teams promoted with one Championship title each.
And if Lincoln fail to get promotion to League 1 this year, expect another double Gloucestershire/Lincolnshire promotion at end of next season by FGR & Lincoln. :2thumb:

Yeah our crowds have held up ok given we've struggled all season. Average of 2683 puts us 19th in the attendance table.

Wouldn't be surprised if we're pushing 3k in a couple of years time, provided we don't go back down.

Your attendances will go down next season, even if you do stay up. You're a new ground this season for most clubs so the away numbers have been higher than you'll get next season.

What's the issue some seem to have with Borehamwood?

After we played them in the FA cup a few years ago they trashed the dressing rooms and pissed all over the floor, then released this beauty of a statement.

Boreham Wood Football Club having completed a thorough internal investigation and spoken with Carlisle Utd wish to make a final statement regarding the laughable accusation of our players urinating in the dressing room after the recent FA Cup tie at the Carlisle game.

[...]

Mark Jones our left back, still angry at that treatment at the end of the game, entered our changing room and immediately kicked out at our Juice (plastic urn) container that sat on the floor. The plastic urn was sent flying across the dressing room and the content [sic] remains of orange juice was sent across the floor.

That is the complete non story, it is the simple boring truth and to suggest our players have stood and urinated in front of our manager Ian Allinson (over 500 football league games) and in front of our two female medical team is beyond belief..

[...]

Finally an old tea pot they say was put in a urinal by ourselves.. Our observations are again simple, that on our arrival back to the changing room at the end of the game. A tea pot full of hot tea had been put by a Carlisle official on a very narrow beveled ledged wall exactly at the point of entry into our shower area.. Why it was put there is anyones [sic] guess but we can show the pictorial evidence of the beveled ledge of little more than 4″ wide and put simply it is no place to balance a hot tea pot..

Our medical department told the club during our investigations, that they thought it was an accident waiting to happen. After checking if anybody wanted a cup of tea. Our kit managers were simply asked to empty the tea pot contents down the shower drain before the boys showered and they then placed the tea pot by the adjacent sink next to the urinals.

[...]

Perhaps that story deflects from the poor behaviour and performance of their players and management team. Who were so disparaging to our players over the two games, failed to accept our hospitality at our place and the fact that our players were then left with absolutely no hospitality or food after the game at Brunton Park perhaps says a lot, though the Carlisle players were of course fed..

[...]

The “he said, she said” nonsense perpetuated by Carlisle Utds media man Andy Hall however has not gone away. He does a disservice to a competitive two game FA Cup tie, where a small non league club shook Carlisle to their boots and did a great disservice to both sets of supporters. He has shamefully put two and two together, come up with 5 and anyone with a modicum of common sense, can see that from the photoss [sic] and he is now scrambling around trying to justify his actions..

http://www.borehamwoodfootballclub....eham-wood-fc-replies-to-laughable-accusation/

So the game itself, an FA Cup first round replay was incredibly bad-tempered as BHW took the lead only for us to equalise late on before scoring an injury time winner, this was followed by ugly scenes which our players later claimed were prompted by a racist comment directed towards David Amoo from a BHW player. At one point Graham Kavanagh had to come on the pitch to restrain Liam Noble (of course).

Boreham Wood won’t come up anyway.

As a side note, why is the club called Boreham Wood when the town is called Borehamwood? Seems strange to split the towns name in half.

You don’t see Hartle Pool or Carl Isle

To be fair I have seen a lot of times Grimsby referred to as GRIMsby which I can't work out why as it's a beautiful place.....

The town used to be called Boreham Wood but changed its name to Borehamwood because it's where Elstree Studios are. The club kept its name as the original.

Is it "You are my B'Wood, My only B'Wood?"

They have a banner saying something similar, I think.

You live in Manchester? You never mentioned that before...

Me. Never.

Though I'm sure reading the whole post you'd have got the reason for me mentioning it.

To be fair, I’m fairly sure Southampton fans chant “come on So’ton”

Of course. But you do mention it quite a bit.

Well it's lose lose. As then I get folk asking why I'd want local games against dale bury and Oldham next season like in another thread, but fair enough point. It's a good place to live though!

That isn't strictly true, 15 out of the other 23 league 2 clubs have already visited us in the Conference. Some like yourselves a few times and at both our old and new grounds. We were there a long, long time.

And we've had Port Vale come here in the cup before as well.

I think a lot of people who wanted to tick our ground off to either keep them in the 92 club, or towards membership, visited us at the start of the season. I saw people wearing strips from a variety of different teams, and met a group of four from Bristol, who had just come to see our first game in the Football League. Our crowd on Saturday almost hit 2400 home fans, which wasn't bad for a game that we were considered unlikely to win, most of us were predicting the margin of defeat before the game.

Who knows whether the novelty of League football will have worn off next season, if we are still in it, but if you had told me a decade ago that we would have home crowds averaging more than 2500 I would have laughed at you...but we have!

Obviously we have had a lot of people doing the 92 come to games this season, which has helped.

But I think our large amount of community work deserves a lot of credit for the growth in attendances, the ambassadors scheme now includes a huge amount of schools, our club does a lot of school visits, soccer camps, free shirts for year 3's etc, all things we struggled to afford to do before Ecotricity took over. That has certainly made a difference.

Yeah, fair play to FGR. They are better supported than others in L2, despite their relatively short existence and smallish catchment area. An area historically home to the surrounding league clubs.

Short existence? We were formed in 1889!

And we spent 19 years one division below this. We're hardly another Fleetwood.

Short existence in terms of being a viable league team.

100 years of playing The Dog and Duck don’t count!

A new ground for just under half the league, with more local games this season than there potentially is next season. And we may have been to yours before, but that was a fair few years ago where many of our current fans, which all seem to be quite young - haven't. So even for us you were a new ground for a vast amount of our fans.

I know it will be a great day for everybody all over the world should MK Dons join us, but if they do then I fully expect them to be right at the top end of the table next season looking for an immediate return to L1. That's not a good thing afaic, as I always want the lesser sides to come down, just in case our BOD decide to have a crack at promotion nest year. Rather a Crewe - no disrespect intended - than a Coventry right?

So going on this logic I'd want Bury, Oldham, Wimbledon and either Walsall or Rochdale. But there's no way I'd want the Real Dons to join us and the fake ones to preserve their L1 status.

Up from the connie? Hmm, can't say it makes any difference at all to me if the two promoted clubs are regarded by the football purists -lol - as 'proper' clubs or 'tinpot' outfits. IOW, this proper club thing is a load of tosh afaic. Football games are won and lost on some muddy field out there somewhere and not by how many home fans clubs get through the turnstiles.

Still, I'm ok with two out of the current top 4 - Macc, Sutton, Tranmere and Wrexham. If I was asked back in August I would've said Orient, Pools or Halifax.
