Cash did some magnificent cover versions on those albums - he even came pretty close to making a U2 song almost listenable.

I actually prefer the NIN version. That album is packed full of beautiful renderings though. Cash's version of bridge over troubled water has me in bits.
and that's what it's all about, different horses for different courses and all that, if it wasn't for that song I wouldn't have listened to anything else of cash, for me it's just beautiful version of a pukka song.

Touche Amore are quite clearly the best post 2000 band btw.
Electronic tunage produced in the UK from approx 1989 to 1997 was greater, more fascinating and more densely fecund than any other cultural moment in the history of music.

Excellent idea for a thread PaulH.
2. The term Catchy/Pop Punk is an abomination, best left for those 12/13 year olds who don't know any better. In fact I have much more respect for a Miley Cyrus fan than a catchy punk one.
You've been in fine form in this thread and I love you but just no on this. Nope, not having it. I'll fight you on the beaches.

Royal blood are incredibly dull.

Stevie Wonder is the greatest songwriter of all time.

Original pirate material is the best album of the 00s

The earlier Beatles stuff is just as good as their later material.

The bends isnt as good as at least 3 Radiohead albums.

Reasonable doubt is a below average effort that doesn't hold a candle to the other 90s seminal hip hop albums.

And finally not to disappoint those who know me, Kasabian are the worst band ever to grace this earth. That's right worse than, 2 door cinema club, worse than the kooks, worse than scouting for girls.

1. Strongly agree.

4. Hmm. Neither agree nor disagree.
5. Strongly agree
6. ??? (Don't like hip hop so no comment)
7. Somewhat agree as Kasabian are 100% pure shite (and I can't stand their, erm,'guitarist' and singer) but there are/were far too many other contenders for this coveted title.

Beatles are consistent throughout.

Can count the good Kasabian songs on three fingers.

I may get shot down here but why are Nickelback such a meme and why do they generate so much hate?

1. I have yet to hear a decent footy related tune. Not even one! Please leave your suggestions below this comment if you can help me out. Much appreciated ta.

2. Any piece of music that is written specifically for monetary gain is,by definition, shite. By monetary gain I mean top 10/20 material.

3. Like everybody else, I was saddened to hear of Chris Cornell's death, may the poor chap rest in peace. However, unlike everybody else, I've always thought Soundgarden are highly overrated.

4. Did I mention before that crap bands like Green Day/Rancid/Sum 41 et al aren't truly punk bands? I already did? Never mind.

Even with the John Barnes bit World In Motion is a very good tune, because it isn't a typical football song

Ed Sheeran is fucking pony.
I could count the number of decent songs that have been released since 2007 on half as many fingers as a native of Norfolk/Swindon

U2 are fucking great. So are Pink Floyd. And Kasabian. You're all wrong. :)

Radiohead's best album is A Moon Shaped Pool. Then Kid A, then OK Computer.

Kula Shaker's album K is as good as (or better than) any album released by Oasis, Blur, Pulp and The Verve.

Massive Attack, despite being massively rated by many, are still the most underrated band in the world.

Ed Sheeran - what's the deal? Honestly, he's boring as....

There hasn't been a decent British rock band "make it" since Arctic Monkeys.

Most of what you said is a valid opinion but I hate U2 more than I do any other band and I genuinely can't understand why anyone would think they're good.

U2 and Kasabian are shit. Just shit of the purest concoction. I'd rather stick peperamis into my eardrums than listen to either of them.

Anyone who listens to either band for pleasure needs their head shooting off with a 12 bore shotgun from extremely close range.

Early U2 were good, then Bono got all Billy Big Bollocks, and they turned to cack.
