Anyone else get annoyed how unoriginal most fans are these days. Seems every decent chant gets copied by everyone and their dog. Whether it be things like the Dimi Payet chant, the Will Grigg one, the on our way one or that Allez allez allez one that every fucker is copying and making out they're unique and awesome. Why not make up your own instead of changing the words slightly to a popular one everyone else is using, ultras are a bunch of lazy fuckers in this country.

Not sure what Cooper's got to do with this.

Just finding it a bit shit that every time I go to football or watch it on telly all you get is the same recycled chants. And then fans doing it make out their original and awesome. 'What an atmosphere ' etc. We do the same btw. But just saying.

In recent years, I reckon we might have been the ones to first do the clap clap clap-clap-clap-clap FIIIISHHH* one.

*Or whatever one syllable word you want.

What I do find quite interesting is the way certain unoriginal chants are popular in different divisions. That shite one IS THIS THE LIBRARY? seems to be popular in the Championship for example, but you don't really hear it down here.

The song 'blah blahs a shithole, I wanna go home' irritates me. If you are that underwhelmed with your surroundings, rather than sit there and sing about it, why not just go home?

Its like me choosing to watch Eastenders every day and then moaning to my wife about how shit it is.

Do you have a song for Dale Vince to the tune of 'Since you've been gone' by Rainbow?

I can think of a couple of decent original ones our fans have done over the years.
Away at West Ham in the FA Cup in the mid 90’s my Dads mate paid for a banner with ‘free Arfur Fowler’ on it as in Eastenders at the time he was in prison for some shit, so the banner got flew across our fans as we all chanted it and the West Ham fans in the stand to our right were laughing like fuck and gave us a round of applause.
Then the other year some song about Omar Bogle was doing the rounds at away games for a while to a to tune of Tender by Blur.
Oh and at Southport a young lad got into a bin and his mates rolled him down down the steps to ‘he’s in, he’s in, he’s in a fucking bin’.
Quality.

Funnily enough we get that one sung at us quite a lot, not sure why like? :dk:

My favourite impromptu one was the season we went down and Fenty paid for coaches to Rochdale and mid-us getting spanked their supporters started chanting GOING UP GOING UP GOING UP, to which some bright spark in our end responded with 40 YEARS...IS ALL IT TOOK. They might have battered us on the pitch but 1000+ Town fans singing that got them all sat back down on their arses pretty quickly.

Yeah Grimsby seem quite a witty bunch at times tbf. It's the kind of unique off the cuff wit that you rarely see any more. What you mainly get now is just a bunch of chavvy dicks on both sides shouting the same recycled shite at each other pretending to be hard from a safe distance and singing songs ripped off other clubs.

The Will Grigg one was stolen anyway.

We had some good ones 6/7 years ago but as we get older our more creative fans don't really sit among the singers anymore so it's the usual stuff we've always sung and the odd new unoriginal chant.

I thought I hated Allez Allez Allez until some c*** started singing Flitcrofts at the wheel a few weeks ago.

I dislike that since I was young, I follow them song.

Also, that we're the whoever boys, making all the noise.

We sing them over and over again but we've nicked them from somewhere else.

I enjoyed the Leeds song at Derby the other night, very catchy.

Best song I've heard lately in a Leeds boozer was a load of Sheffield United lads, George Ezra song shotgun , really original and sounded good even to a miserable goat like me
Much better than the chip butty shit they sing

We were drumming that one back in our promotion season of 2005/06 to be fair.

I do hate 99% of songs now though, every ground sounds the same. It's so boring.

I've also noticed that whoever the younger lads are who start the songs clearly follow Man United as if ever I think I've heard a new song at a game I will always then hear a version the next time I happen to see Man United on the tele... safe to say they're not copying us!

At home games our fans often sing "Swindon's (or wherever) a shithole, you'd rather live here" but Colchester is generally going downhill fairly quickly these days.

I did enjoy Oldham answering us with "Oldham's a shithole, we already know!"

At home games our fans often sing "Swindon's (or wherever) a shithole, you'd rather live here" but Colchester is generally going downhill fairly quickly these days.

Both are relatively humorous responses to be fair.

Funny to have a FRG fan coming on about Allez allez allez as that seems to be the only song they know and they only know that because one of them posted the words on their fan site last week. Oh and you might have noticed we don`t have a version of that because we don`t copy chants/songs off that horrible mob from across the river if we can help it.

But seriously I tend to agree with Chris on this one. Theres seems very little originally these days. It`s just the same tunes with the words changed to whatever club is singing it and as soon as somebody does come up with something different it is immediately copied all over the league. For example we started singing "Tequilla" earlier this season only to have it hijacked by Milton Keynes of all people.

- Tequila
- This is what it’s like to be Tranmere
- Connor Jennings song that everyone else copied

A few years back we had one for Ian Goodison to “buffalo soldier”

Yep, although we changed it from "Tequila" to "David Wheeler", but unfortunately he was just here on loan so unless he comes back next season it'll fade away just as quickly.

Even the players were singing it when we were promoted and specifically mentioned it in an interview, so Tranmere supporters inadvertently contributed to the morale in our dressing room.

I like the one-offs, usually directed at an opposing player.

‘Wanker John McGinley’ still resonates occasionally, even though it refers to 20 years ago.

Matt Le Tissier took his ‘Big nose, he’s got a fucking big nose’ quite well.

Unlike the Man U player, can’t remember which one, who got a bit too close to the fans to collect a ball for a throw in and got a punch in the head for his trouble!

Ah, the good old days in the Shrivvy
