One of my good friends is a teacher in Carshalton, thus I have a soft spot for them. Up the Robins!

You can mock our pitch, ground, colours etc and I'll shrug it off, but expressing support for the vile, disgusting, rancid, vile Bobbin filth makes me cry on the inside.

We've seemingly discovered a new level of crisis.

Good ploy by GI - become even shitter than before as the fans will stop going. Makes it an easier proposition for them to get the land, when the club sinks to irrelevant levels.

Ronnie Moore is apparently being lined up for the managers job..

What's he like Tranmere/Hartlepool/Eastleigh fans? What type of football does he play? Does he have contacts in the game for decent signings?

He certainly likes a bet!

These days he is an impact manager. He will improve things for six months to a year, but if you want to plan for the long term he is not the right choice. In all his recent jobs, things have gone tits up after about a year or so.

He is very much old school. Likes to play 442 with natural wingers and a big man up front, which is not always pretty but can be exciting (for a time) depending on recruitment.

He has good contacts in the north, but knows hardly anything about the game in your part of the world, so I can't see him being a good fit at Torquay to be honest (cf. his spell at Eastleigh).

100% correct, worked wonders in keeping us up in the 'great escape' season, hopelessly out of his depth the season after.

I think that both Hartlepool and Tranmere would still be football league clubs if they'd of kept Ronnie's services. Good manager in my eyes and can turn struggling teams around.

Disagree in our case, great impact when he arrived halfway through the season, massively helped by the loan signings of Aaron Tshibola, Jordan Hugill and David Mirfin, exposed as the football dinosaur he is the season after, signs players in quantity and not quality and he was widely disliked by the fans when he was sacked at Pools.

That's why he brought them in

All great loan signings, them three kept us up, none of his permanent signings or loans the season after were remotely close to as talented maybe Nathan Thomas, despite signing 13 players and recruiting 11 more on loan throughout the season, we were back to our pathetic selves and he was out of a job.

They seem like expensive options for a club without a pot to piss in.

Don't they just. GI just didn't want Nicholson - make it impossible circumstances for him to build an improved squad, sack him when his fans confidence is at it's lowest, and then bring in a new boss.

I dread to imagine the reception Adams would get at Prenton Park if it was him.

Is this still going on? Have to confess I have an axe to grind with Torquay after their unprofessional approach and utter capitulation in the first half to Tin Pot Guisly, last day of season in 2016. While we faced a Macclesfield side that was quite rightly willing to do its duty and compete, even though they had nothing to play for, Torquay only competed after half time to save their own faces, having already gifted Guisly the points. The bastards can go down this year for me. :box:

Lets hope so. Could do with some more comedy so Exodus launching a throw into our own net would be top billing.

Fair enough. Think you'll get your wish this year. Although we're one of your preferred proper clubs so I imagine that was difficult for you to type ;)

We ALWAYS beat Torquay, it's the LAW
Given our last few performances they might well be the only two wins this season!

It was, but that performance put you beyond the pale. I should hate Hereford- they put us out of the Football League on the last day of the season in '93 on a day when they had nothing to play for, but I don't because I know they were only doing their duty by all the other clubs that were fighting to stay up. Torquay didn't give a fuck. :dis:

C'mon you gulls.

You have to stay up and make the club work, Devon needs a second team. You can't leave us alone with the bloody Cornish that would be horrific.

Oh yeah? We've got 6 Premier League clubs within a 60 mile radius, including Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City, 4 in the Championship including Leeds United (16 miles) and a multitude of other Football League sides all within easy reach and too numerous to mention- yet we still drew a gate that set a national record at Level 6 and was only beaten once in the Conference Premier last season - I don't think we do too bad, what do you think?

Meanwhile, Torquay's nearest Premiership side is over 100 miles away and that's fucking Bournemouth, while the only other League clubs that are closer are the Mighty Plymouth Argyle, Exeter City, and Bristol Rovers and City, yet somehow the colossus that is Torquay still struggles to break 2000 each week. If you were in the North you'd be getting about 500. :fl::fl::fl:
