I still have my greatest success on any management game I've ever played on with LMA Manager 2007. It's probably not that big to some of you and it shows that I'm shit at these management games, but still. I managed to win the Premier League with Newcastle, signed Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern Munich and he was incredible.

13 year old me was delighted and I've just realised that was nine years a go now. :(

It was Premier Manager in the early noughties where you could build the Stadium up. Usually ended up with the newly built stand burning down due to an electrical fault or something...

There was Ultimate Soccer Manager but that was '98.

There was a management game where you were forced to play a pre-season friendly against Juventus. When I first started out I had no idea which team I'd picked and assumed that I was assigned Juventus, so I was celebrating each time they scored.

As for FM I too imagine the Sky Sports studio doing a tactical analysis on my team. I also click the 2d dot of the player if I need them to do something i.e. intercept a counter attack, save a penalty or win the header from a set-piece.

I remember playing Total Club Manager when they had the personal life section. You could get married, have kids (who could grow up and become players or club staff) buy houses, cars, holiday homes and even shares in real companies lol. You had to keep your wife happy by giving her presents and taking her out, if you forgot your relationship status went down.

Unfortunately my wife left me (not giving her enough attention) despite me buying a small plane and a beach house, and I was left with just a dog.

Haven't played FM in years but might take the plunge this time. If it's addictive then there's a danger of losing my misses in real life though lol.

Haven't played FM since 2006, but just spontaneously bought the new one today and looking forward to getting back into it. This thread is superb.
