Given its Radio Stoke we all know their idea of hard hitting questions to any of our three local clubs are along the lines of “are you disappointed to have lost today?” I’m not expecting too much from it other than a repeat of what he said in the Sentinel.

Administration would be fraught with complications anyway as the club and ground are separate and also Smurthwaite would have to prove he can fund the club for that time not to mention the eventual sale would be a pittance compared to what he’s been offered. That he’d use it as a threat in any case is testament to what he is as a person.

Issue would be with administration the administrator would want to know why he is putting the club in administration when he has had such a large bid to buy the club three weeks ago turned down!

Smurf announcing we will be placed in administration by May 5th unless a new owner is in place.

For all the reasons said above I just don’t see how this is feasible for him to do it. Words can’t describe how much I absolutely despise him.

Why the day after the end of the season too?

Hard to understand anything with him, can only guess that’s when the next lot of money for Hugill might be due? Of course that’s assuming it’s not an empty threat from him.

Next January. I assume he was asking the EFL about when the cut off for points deduction would be if less than 12 above the drop?

I just don't get what he's trying to achieve here. Yes, he's a bitter, twisted and angry man who is clearly trying to screw the fans over and damage the football club on his way out. Which in itself is lunacy as he is putting the players, staff and employees futures at risk. So yes, having a pop at the fans is one thing, but what about those staff he is causing angst and distress to? Yeah, I'm sure he'll say it's the fans fault, but he's choosing to make this decision.

What's his end game after all this though? He seemingly doesn't think the valuations of offers he's received have been genuine, or not to his liking. So instead of taking the first reasonable offer, he's going to put the club into administration and get nothing? That's insane, literally insane. For a man that has clearly amassed a fair amount of wealth, screwing yourself over like this just as a fuck you to the fans is the act of a lunatic.

The positive thing is, come next season, regardless of what league the Vale are in, they'll have a new owner. Where he holds the ace though is ground, with him charging rent. He won't give up that nice little earner easily and I doubt anyone will have enough money to buy the club, fund it for the next few years and buy the ground outright as well. He's got the club by the balls and he know's it.

I hope we move temporarily to either Leek or Kidsgrove and let him rot in his precious stadium

I’d take that. Surely some ground around 6000 capacity we can use locally. How bigs Newcastle Town?

He sounded broken on the call in which was bizarre itself. Best hope is he’s just finally cracked and let’s it go to the Shanahans for what he’s been offered which was a good deal.

Definitely not Newcastle, Lyme Valley would not get a safety certificate for league football. Would imagine the nearest would be Crewe, Stoke (which I’d rather drop dead than go cap in hand to them) or at a push Macclesfield but it’s questionable whether the league would allow the latter.

After that tour de force he gave on Radio Stoke after the game can only conclude the man is seriously unhinged. Between us and Notts County you could make a cracking TV series out of our clubs

Leek is 3,600, Kidsgrove 2,000 and Newcastle 4,000

Im not sure any of them are currently up to league standards

I’ve just listened to the ramblings of norm, “that’s it i’m gone” followed with but you’ll still own the ground and “ you can’t get rid of me i’m the landlord”
As if we didn’t know it’s been his game from the start, we can only hope we survive administration and tell him fuck right off and ground share somewhere.
I love vale park, the creaking old girl, but I would happily go anywhere else (not stoke) to piss that twat off.
I really think it could come to a Phoenix club, i’m not sure there’s gonna be a happy outcome.
And the blame is all ours, apparently, again.

This is chilling stuff. He sounds deadly serious, sadly. What chance is there of finding a buyer by May 5, Vale fans?

As said above there is someone interested however with him splitting the club and the ground and seemingly being intent on keeping hold of the latter that makes things a lot more difficult. He is just a truly loathsome individual and can put it no more mildly than that. For anyone interested have linked the full ramblings of the clown on Radio Stoke after the game, gives some idea of what sort of person we are dealing with here.

Aye, but he seems intent on turning that down unless they substantially increase it? Do you think he would actually carry out his threat to stop funding the club on May 5?

Hard to say, he’s said a lot of things so probably not, he’d lose a lot of money and have a lot to answer in terms of putting a club that’s largely solvent into administration... and would then need to know where the Hugill sell on money, cup income etc went if the club was now to go in administration.

That said he sounds unwell in the radio interview which is dangerous in itself.

He seems to love money though so losing it when he has a £4.5 million offer on the table would be out of character.

He’s totally lost any part of the plot he might have had to begin with.

I do, however, think that he’s finallly had enough and his latest rambling is almost plea to Synectics to come back to the table with another offer without him having to actually ask them because he’s a pig headed arrogant shit.

That is what I’m praying for.

Although he’s leaving the country allegedly for a very long time

Yeah, probably because he’s up to his neck in it and has finally ran out of places to hide the evidence.

See what and if Black and Gold are allowed to reveal the info they were teasing last week. Intriguing to know what it is.

The release of damning information, and his leaving the country for a very long time are almost certainly related. Bring it on.

Usually the words “The slow death of Vale” would appeal to me massively, however having just heard Smurfs radio stoke interview I’m siding with you. I don’t understand how the football league can just let this happen?

I hope Crewe fans do something to support your fight against him when we play you in a few weeks, it’s disgraceful.

Well he was his mentor...
That was Karl. While he was an idiot it was his Dad Owen who was behind it all. A convicted rapist who asset stripped the club and sued dozens of fans.

The Crewe game is meant to be the main protest day “Black and Gold Day” so should be interesting.

We are currently encouraging fans to buy locally rather than at the ground.

Completely agree with the Alex. Hopefully us Crewe fans can do something to support the fight when we visit in a couple of weeks.
