Fully expecting three home wins there, will be pleasantly surprised if any of those three pull an upset.

I fully expect the top 2 to be pretty much sorted by the end of this week. Not confident is us winning tonight and playing Barnsley at home on Saturday will cement us out of the running for automatics. Its been a spectacular implosion by us!! Same thing happened last season. 31st Dec looked great, then didn't win until mid feb.

Depends which Pompey turn up. First or second half versus us. Two very different animals. Has Bogle not carried on where he started? Nobody has given us a more torrid time than him.

Very interesting and pivotal few days for us. I'm only looking at the gap to third and cementing a spot in the autos, so not really caring what Barnsley do apart from the fact they have Pompey at the weekend.

If I get to the stage like last season where we know we're going up and I'm just slightly miffed it's not as Champions, well.... I'll learn to live with it.

I still fear Pompey. I've almost written off Sunderland. Maybe I have it backwards or should be writing off Pompey too. :dk:

The picture could be a lot clearer by the end of the weekend. Then again it's football.

Unfortunately Bogle can only last an hour at moment.. First choice CB Whatmough is out for the rest of the season. Curtis, Lowe and Evans aren't firing at the moment. They look shattered. At least Naylor is back after suspension which really killed against Plymouth and Southend as he's our only big strong CM. Too many players trying to get match fit and get up to speed with the team isn't helping us a the moment. Otabor, Vaughan, Bogle all weren't playing for their previous clubs. Burgess is slowly getting up to speed replacing Whatmough. Hawkins coming back from injury, Cannon and Isgrove not been fit since joining and Morris is playing with a bad ankle. First choice RB out for two weeks which is not helping the defence having to change the back 4 every other week.

2 points dropped. Really disappointed but we just couldn’t finish them off. Hopefully won’t cost us come May.

Frustrating listening to that tonight, full credit to Burton though, first time we've failed to score at home since mid August.

Luton fans obviously will be delighted with that. Top spot is for nerds anyway.

Got to be happy with those scores. Didn't think it likely all three would win but only one is great.

Excellent night for Luton, four points dropped from three home games against teams in 12th, 17th and 20th is better than we could have expected.

We were absolutely dreadful tonight and got a point due to an own goal and one of the worst penalties you'll ever see from Rovers.

The style of football we're playing is reminiscent of the Richie Barker halcyon days. It's disgraceful how we've gone from clear at the top to ten points off the summit in the space of two months.

If we don't beat Barnsley on Saturday (and there's more chance of Tommy Robinson joining ISIS) then our automatic promotion hopes are over.

Can’t believe how many on here aren’t tipping Sunderland for top two. I’d back their team over Barnsley’s any day of the week.

Why? They have consistently failed and dropped points under the pressure. They have not put any proper run together or spell of dominance. Credit where it's due they're still in touch but fuck........they should be with their spending.

Barnsley absolutely the best team I have seen this season, real quality side that just "looked the part" if that makes sense? Big, athletic players who were good on the ball and worked together well as a unit. Their midfield is the best in the league for me. Sunderland have quality but they just didnt look a cohesive team yet. From the outside looking in they clearly have some baggage left over and still working out how they want to play under Ross. Dont think they are out of it by any means, got a feeling Grigg is going to start turning draws into wins for them sooner rather than later, but Barnsley are undoubtedly the better side for me.

Don't know whether you've actually watched them or you're just looking at the squads on paper but Barnsley are the best team I've seen playing against Luton this season (including Championship side Sheffield Wednesday) and comfortably better than Sunderland when Luton played them.

I’m going off squads on paper. In terms of performances, people said the same about Blackburn this time last season compared to us and we still beat them to the league. When you go into March and the pressure well and truly ramps up, it’s not about performances it’s all about results. Sunderland have the better squad and more importantly a number of winners like Grigg, Leadbitter etc. Assuming they win their game in hand, I’ll genuinely be shocked if they don’t get at least two more points than Barnsley between now and May.

Their fans are their biggest obstacle. Must be tough for the players with that mob moaning, groaning and booing every lose pass and mistake.

Time and time again the big club with the pressure and money will fail to the teams with spirit and togetherness

Which baffles me as to why they’re not closer or ahead of us in the league table really. They are our biggest threat undoubtedly for that top spot.

Kieffer Moore out for the season. Huge blow to our automatic chances.

Think we've knackered it now.

We did win games without him pre-Christmas but we looked a bit toothless without him against Burton and Pompey. Sunderland just don't appear to have the ability to lose games and I think they'll turn those draws into wins and beat us to 2nd. Play offs would still represent a good season for us though.
