7 defenders injured

Maguire out for 3 months and Hugill suspended next game too.

Some nob head fans starting to get on Neil's back but no squad in the world could cope with our current injury crisis.

Does appear to be an increase in injuries across the whole league this season. The below is our current injury list, which is close to being the smallest it has been all season. After the international break we should go back to having good squad depth again. At the moment we are still stuck with no senior left back, and only one fit striker (who himself is coming back from 6 month injury and only good enough for the bench)

Tiago Ilori
Jordan Obita (out for the season)
Tennai Watson
Joey van den Berg
George Evans
Garath McCleary
Callum Harriott (out since January)
Stephen Quinn (two games in 13 months)
Liam Kelly
Joseph Mendes
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson
Sam Smith

BEP saying O'Dowda out for 3 months.

Either the injury is worse than first thought, or this is their usual dire journalism and they have mixed up "weeks" and "months".

Still going to be a while off for some more of ours.

@pnefc: AN: “Josh Earl is going to require a bit of surgery today on his knee so hopefully that will help resolve it. It’s a cartilage issue and we were hoping because of his age it would clear itself up but it’s going to be a few more weeks for him.” #pnefc

@pnefc: AN: “Greg Cunningham is doing well, he’s working on his fitness. He broke his leg last year and then got back into the games again before this injury so we are starting from square fitness wise really.” #pnefc

@pnefc: AN: “Tommy Spurr had his brace taken off yesterday so he’s making progress which is good.” #pnefc

Sean Maguire probably won't be back until March.

I Hope maguire won't play till Pre-season TBH. Let him have a proper break after doing a year and a half of football.

I hope it's wrong but I've been told that Callum Woods did his hamstring yesterday and will be out for a few weeks.

Marnick Vermijl's also injured.

Callum odowda having an operation on his ankle tomorrow. Won't know how long he's out until after apparently, local rag said 3 months the other day but they are probably just guessing. Big loss anyway.

Fuck that, get him involved, he's having 4 months out anyway the lazy bastard. We'll need him for the play-off games.

Hope that's not true, although O'Connor isn't terrible, prefer him to Boyle anyway.

I like Callum but not sure a 2-year extension was wise, unless he's on a pittance.

O'Dowdas injury is 8-10 weeks.
He will be missing a minimum of 11 games in the next 8 weeks.

Question for Liam (and other Sheffield Wednesday fans)

Are Pudli/Abdi and Forestieri all injured or just out of favour?

Djuric needs an operation on the other side of his groin.

We're losing a player a game at the moment.

Where'd you see that? That's a huge blow. January can't come soon enough..

Our injury list is clearing up and it is no surprise that in parallel our results are improving.

Current missing players:
Jordan Obita (out for the season)
George Evans
Garath McCleary
Callum Harriott (out since January)
Stephen Quinn (two games in 13 months)
Joseph Mendes

Other than Obita I am not sure any of the rest would get into our starting 11 anyway.

The big difference is that we finally have not one, but two fit senior strikers. We were trash when we were playing without a recognised striker up front. 5 out of our 7 wins this season are in games where we have started a striker. 6 out of our 8 losses this season are where we have not played a senior striker.

From what I have heard/read Terry could be back sooner than initially expected. Could even be back for the Sheffield Utd game on the 23rd. Kodjia could be out for the entire season though...

Could really do with Hogan coming back ASAP as well, he hasn't been great but we could do with another striker on the bench to affect a game from the bench as we have a real lack of striking options. There is a lot of pressure on young Keinan Davis at the moment. If he gets injured we will be in real trouble.

So Smith is another to add to the list.

Of the list under "First Team" on our official site only 20 at the club are fit, 4 are goalkeepers and at least 2-3 of the others have never played a league match for us.

Down to 3 strikers, one who was a midfielder until this season, one who we nicked from Rovers to stop their promotion push last season, and Woodrow who has looked poor in most games he has played.

Wonder what Wilder would have said if it was Clarke in place of Korey

He made some comment about the ref watching the Premier league too much...

Did he think your player was somehow making the most of the tackle or that the rules ought to be different in the football league compared to the top flight?

Or just being the usual one eyed biased manager - I don't even know why the press bother asking about red cards because they all have a stock answer ready depending on if its for or against their team.

Smith hasn't made the most of it, he's left the stadium on crutches. Was a bad challenge.

He also said that the ref will be able to do his Christmas shopping early next week because based on his performance he shouldn't be selected...

I've even seen some blades fans say that they thought he reffed the game really well!

Sam Winnall being out for the season "and beyond" confirmed, leaves us very short up top with Nuge and Jerome who both struggle to last 90.

Was a decent player for us, scored some important goals that have won us games. Not sure we'd have gone all out to sign him in the summer but still looks like we got the better end of the Winnall/Butterfield deal. I think Winnall with one knee might be better. :animatedf:

He's a Wolves fan, thought Derby were getting a bit too close to us so he thought he'd injure himself for the greater good. True story (the bit about him being a Wolves fan anyway)...
