I'd say we'll be waiting for you in the Conference in a couple of years, but we're probably going down too. Rain check?

You say 'going down too' - we aren't going down! We're having a disappointing season because we aren't challenging up the top end of the league (yet!), but I don't think we're in any danger of being shitter than a lot of the teams in this league and getting relegated.

Other teams who have their own thread on here seem to be going through some sort of existential crisis amongst themselves, be it either dodgy owners, dodgy players or dodgy pies whereas we're.....ok? Form is decent, financials are decent and we have decent players. Wish we had a couple more but it's January soon so we probably will have.

Well last night's open meeting between management and fans was an eye opener.
  • Justin Edinburgh is taking us to an employment tribunal (adjourned until November)
  • Scally told the Chief Exec of Northampton that Edinburgh was a "great bloke, the most-hard working manager, committed and his thinking was way above the players. I said I might have made a mistake (in sacking him)" so he'd get offered the Northampton job and Scally wouldn't have to continue to pay his contract.
  • Playing budget this year is £1.6m
  • Court case with former caterers will be won, amount to be recouped between £1.2m and £2.2m plus legal costs
  • Scally in regular contact with overseas investors, although none from China which he made abundantly clear, but didn't explain.
  • Fabled new stadium plans at Mill Hill trundle on, he's looking at it forming part of a £270-300m complex
  • Big insight into last season's poisonous atmosphere amongst the players and downright shambolic management set-up under Ednburgh, with training sessions just three days a week
  • We're STILL paying QPR for JET's wages.
  • Bristol City offered £2m for Bradley Dack January 2016, Scally admitted in hindsight we should have accepted that offer.
  • We have no new kit this season because “While I (Scally) was in hospital my (then) chief exec ordered 5,000 shirts and paid for them. We have about 8,000 pieces of kit (in the shop) and there might be a sale after Christmas! That is why he is the ex-chief exec.”

Fans asked unvetted questions from the floor, the management answered them. Given the season we've just had, I'm not surprised the fans wanted a few answers.

You lot have the same thing going on tonight.

By all accounts a very fruitful evening. A lot of questions answered, and the majority in a positive way. Justin Edinburgh has cemented himself as a bit of a dick (what's new?), once the court case is won we'll have a fair amount of money back to play with (seems like a question of how much rather than a win/lose situation) and the playing side of the club actually has a plan now, rather than last year where it was a square pegs/round holes scenario.

I'm quite encouraged all round really.

That's a bit naughty of Scally re JED. I'd probably have done the same to be honest but I wouldn't have made it public after, like some kind of criminal mastermind unveiling his evil plan.

It made me laugh, typical Scally

That could cause some real problems and US authorities in these type of situations don't tend hold back.

Is there likely to be any comeback with regards the money taken out of the charity account by Scally without proper authorisation?

Don't have a direct link but Scally apparently took money out of the Gills Community Trust account in the summer without the Trustees authorisation. I saw it on your forum (Gillsconnect) with a statement from the Trust that I couldn't access so am paraphrasing their comments.

I do feel sorry for you guys. I suppose to further compound the misery, the game reminded me much of the fixture between ourselves and York in their relegation season a couple of seasons back. It has to be one of the most passive games of football I have seen in sometime. Gills really offered very little; a combination of poor fitness, lack of confidence, inability and tactical ineptitude across the game leant itself to an OUFC victory.

I actually don't think we needed to play anything above 50% to secure the victory which judging by the comments on your forum, suggest you are entirely aware!

An interesting (or not) stat about Gills v Oxford games is that it's been 11 league games between us since both teams scored in the same game (2-1 Gills, Sept 99). Also, yesterday was the first time since the aforementioned match that there has been more than one goal in any league game between the sides.

Early 6-pointer tomorrow so we'll get to see just how bad each other are.

We do normally lose to AFC, and the performance there last year was way worse than anything I've witnessed so far this season (wasn't at Oxford) so I'm not that confident. Add in that half the home side have played for us at some point then there are several options for the 'goal against your old club'. Maybe several of them!

I've always liked your optimism Joe but Bradford have only kept 1 clean sheet this season.

We didn't play badly against you to be honest, we haven't played terribly for a full 90 that I've seen this year which was more my point - Wimbledon away last year was a full 90 minutes of self-inflicted clusterfucks.

Aye, but that was almost 11 months ago. We just can't score goals at the moment, and have struggled for ages. If you're that shit, my best hope is a 0-0 draw.

Look likes Cody has been struggling for you but he can still turn it on in isolated games like v Brizzle Rovers at the end of last season which effectively kept us up.

I have a sneaking feeling in which game he will hit form.
