After the way the Bury fans gloated and danced all over the Prenton Park pitch in our final FL game for 3 years, contrary to their own board's request to behave otherwise, it is very difficult as a Tranmere fan to have much sympathy for their current plight. It's been clear for a long while that Day's situation was financially dubious, even though few had anticpated exactly how bad until recent events.

We weren’t gloating, we’d just been promoted... we were celebrating promotion..

I certainly would not want them to go bust, but they lacked class that day.

Tranmere would have done exactly the same. We did exactly the same v Chesterfield back in 2011. Not our fault you were shite that year.

We still deserve to be in the position we are due to the batshit crazy way we have been run.

Obviously have sympathy for the vast majority of Bury fans who are worrying about the future of their club. Stewart Day was an accident waiting to happen though and I think many of us called it when he walked in and started splashing the cash. I've read his company has gone bust owing £27 million which is quite something. Makes you wonder why Day invested heavily in Bury in the first place. It's your average lower league club, small gates etc. But was he just there to boost the budget, go up two leagues, gain a surge in support, get a stadium built on the back of this with it being funded partly by Day and partly by other organisations so he could sell Gigg Lane and line his pockets considerably? I can't think of any other reason for a property developer investing money in a lower league club than wanting the ground to make a small fortune if I'm honest.

All I wish for Bury is a fresh start and to finally live within their means as it feels like Bury have been in this predicament far too many times in the past 20 years. I'm sure the majority of you Bury fans will agree with that.

The minority who chanted Oyston In vs Blackpool and mocked Bolton for their horrendous financial situation though look a wee bit silly now all this has come out mind.
From what I've read, the problem is that Day himself didn't invest his money (if he actually has any). He just borrowed heavily and people seemed to believe it was his money when in fact it wasn't and was secured against assets.

Do Tranmere fans seriously expect an opposition team, that has won promotion to not celebrate? I can understand that you got relegated, which is painful enough without having to see the glee of opposition supporters but in what way was there a lack of class? There is no way if the shoe was on the other foot Tranmere fans wouldn't have behaved exactly the same. (that goes for ALL clubs, not just Tranmere who I have no issue with at all)

Oxford fans still bear a grudge at Orient fans for celebrating on their pitch for a similar thing.

What lacks class is this comment - "After the way the Bury fans gloated and danced all over the Prenton Park pitch in our final FL game for 3 years, contrary to their own board's request to behave otherwise, it is very difficult as a Tranmere fan to have much sympathy for their current plight"

Bury could go out of business for fuck's sake, how any fan couldn't have sympathy for this is staggering.

It's worse Luke
The company Day "borrowed" the high-interest money from has mysteriously gone bust at the same time as the fat Yorkshire rats main property "empire"
2 different receivers looking to find the money and neither has a bloody clue. So many intercompany loans a well-trained lab rat couldn't find a way out of the maze.
We should survive today but the close season is a different matter.

Football on the pitch takes a back seat from now on for me.

We’ve been given another 5 weeks of life, whether anything will change with regards to debt in that time is yet to be seen. Very much as you were.

Adjourned until the 15th of May - HMRC are now the lead petitioner, not Brassy. We owe them £277k. Adjourned on basis of money coming from EFL payments & season tickets. @holdo on Twitter has much more info than BT (shocker!)

It’s certainly a hand to mouth existence for a lot of clubs at this level would hate to see any club fold we should all put rivalries to one side when clubs are in these positions the premier league gave 230 million to agents last season that would be over £3million to each of the fl72 clubs. God I hate the premier league and to think we were founder members of it

I was being honest about my thoughts on Bury.

Nowhere have I said that I wanted Bury to go out of business, in fact have contributed to previous financial appeals for them and Chester.

In 2014, there were already concerns about Stewart Day, as raised by journalist David Conn. Rovers player Ryan Lowe was lured to Bury, although still under contract, possibly with funds Day didn't really have. Lowe is a greedy two-faced individual with form for similar, so don't kid myself that he'd have stuck with Rovers, but there was an antipathy between the clubs because of that. Can’t help feeling that Bury’s promotion was on the back of dodgy money. Rovers were already relegated by the time we played Bury, many of us went out of duty as weren't sure when (if) we'd get back in the FL. We’d allowed GM police to assist policing the away end, perhaps a mistake, as they allowed Bury fans onto the pitch the moment the final whistle blew, instead of allowing home fans to leave the stadium first. It’s my worst experience as a football fan and that was made much worse as a result of how the visiting supporters behaved.

While it was a less polarised match the behaviour of your team’s fans after beating us to the play-off final, sets the gold standard for victorious fans behaviour to vanquished opponents. It’s also the only time I’ve been on our pitch after a match.

Those play-offs will live long in the memories for us, including, as you rightly say, the tremendously sporting way that Tranmere took their defeat in that play-off semi. Especially as Tranmere could feel very hard done by, having had a perfectly good John Aldridge goal disallowed in the first leg (the Steve Vickers game).

Many Town fans still speak fondly about the Tranmere fans behaviour after the game, that really does speak volumes about the club and its supporters.

Got to agree with AS re Tranmere fans that evening. We’d pinched their pocket over 2 brilliant games and when they came on the pitch at the end most of us in the away terracing were gearing up for a bit of a scuffle. Suffice to say you lot were superb in defeat and even one of our well known nutters who was ready to go calmed himself down to appreciate you.

This from Pete O’Rourke on Twitter does not sound good at all:

“Bury players are going on a 48-hour strike from training and are not intending to play their game on Saturday unless guarantees have been made by the Bury owner over their unpaid wages.”

If that were to happen, would Colchester be awarded a 3-0 win or something?

Seems very odd in the timing that tweet when not 30 mins earlier we put a statement out that they would be getting paid... unless they don’t believe him. Plus Lowe has said a few times that they would never go on strike.. I know things can change but.... we’ll see I suppose.

They’d field the Youth Team I guess and take the pasting likely handed out as they’d surely get a punishment for not fulfilling the fixture on top of the awarded points to Colchester?

I think it’s moments like this where we need to remember that the fans and football comes first, I hope bury see it through and land on a safe and secure footing.

Obviously I hope we still beat you to promotion (no offence) but the best of luck

What worries me is that a lot of Bury fans think this Dale fella is an asset stripper - which he may well be. So if he’s now got until 15 May to get EFL money and ST sales and gate receipts what’s to stop him trousering all that, telling HMRC there is no money and wind the club up if you want.

If he’s the twat everyone thinks he is I’d not let him near any money which could at least satisfy HMRC and keep the club afloat.

Very much so, seems to be countless clubs in the mire at the moment, Notts, Blackpool, Bolton, Macc, Bury, Oxford, Coventry potentially us, Ebbsfleet, North Ferriby gone something has to change.

Seems a phase at the moment where a different club is at court each week at the moment. Worrying for the fans and the staff who generally are innocent in all of this.

Hopefully all the clubs can get through it.
