Might as well have our own thread for this seeing as there are a few of us.

Traditional defeat for us - something like 1 win in 50 years for us. That awful penalty decision at the CG last season still rankles.

The Fishies seems to have improved lately - as have we. Doughty and Woolery back for us is massive.

We hate it up north eastwards - Grimsby, Lincoln, Scunny, Pools, Boro, Mackems all turn us over so expecting nothing from this.

Right in the top 7 mix again if we can get a fourth win on the bounce. Woolery's pace on the break could be a big factor.

I'm confident if we can keep in touch until January a couple of shrewd signings could help us cement a play off place in the second half of the season.

Will go for a draw here...1-1.

Gonna have to give this one a miss unfortunately, went to see my Sister in Law in Manchester at the weekend and spent quite a bit more than planned, got a bit caught up in the Xmas market there and we bought a whole load of shit that we don’t actually need so my wallets a bit thin, Twitter updates it’ll have to be. :(

For some reason I thought we were beating Notts County on Saturday, never mind Swindon will have to do. Can only see a home win no mater who turns up against us.

Ooh! Them’s fighting words! I had to check the table in case I was mistaken about you being 7th bottom.

I wasn’t.

Our home form is good and we're starting to put out performances that are better than our standing on a consistent level. We'll have slip ups like Saturday just gone but I'm now confident we can take on most teams and start climbing up the table. Swindon are on a good little run in the league but I see no reason why we can't win. Should be a good game.

Yep especially with 2 kids on the want at pretty much every stall.
Still really liked the place though, and you could see the Etihad from my Sister in laws 12th floor window which was quite good for a footy fan.

Sorry fellow mariners but I'm back after 4 months away and this will be my first game this season, so expect a comfortable loss.

Only my second game of the season. Lardy dah big bollocks in the corporate suite after tour of ground (been a fan for 38 years and first time behind the scenes - trophy room shouldn’t take too long) followed by a night out in Louth. Used to be a good night out did Louth. But that was 20 years ago!!

I can see Old Trafford cricket and football ground from the office window, always good for a sports fan!

Off to Australia tonight for Christmas and New Year. Get into Sydney at 8am local time on Saturday and so I’ll have no idea what time i need to pay attention to the football, is it about 2am on Sunday morning?

As to the game, we’ve won 3 in a row and the football looks much slicker under Wellens. Grimsby are improved on last season and this won’t be easy.

I’m a pessimistic character so I think we’ll lost an entertaining game 2-1

Grimsby are improved on last season1

I'd agree with you in general but it's interesting looking back to this point last season, when Grimsby were 11th, level on points with the play-offs and 10 points better off than their current total...

Yep and we were just about to go on a 20 game winless run.

Yeah, that is quite an interesting little stat. I'd say there is a lot more positivity about things now even than there was at that point though and undoubtedly more positivity than the weeks and months that followed this time last year. I do think both positions we were in then and now are not true (in subjective terms) reflections of where we should have and should be necessarily. This season has been frustrating in that we started so slowly in terms of accruing points that any form we hit doesn't seem to elevate us higher than 18th. Last weekend was especially disappointing for me as a win would have really got us moving away from the dogfight and into that lower midtable slog. Back to back home wins would go down a treat now and would see those Palace tickets really shift when they go on general sale. Get Embleton locked down for the rest of the season as well and I'll be happy going into the new year.

Just looked at the thread last November after we lost to Exeter after the unbeaten run, town fans on here said the unbeaten run meant nothing and it was ridiculous we were still only 4 points of the play offs.

So it proved as not long after we then didn't win in about 20 games

Yes, got to agree with you guys, false positions last year and now currently also. Season could go either way too, hopefully we'll move in the right direction but you never know with THE TOWN, or football in general. I like what I have seen in the last few games, surely the points will start to build up soon? Three points today would help.

Our record of 1 win in the last 14 at yours hardly inspires confidence.

Haven’t seen it myself but seeing some people saying McKeown was too late to dive for Swindon’s leveller. Can see this being 3-2 either way.

Not the best half by us but we've defended okay against a Swindon side with obvious bits of quality. Could go either way but we need to step it up a gear or two.

Judging by Twitter I can’t see this staying 2-1, sounds end to end so I’m sticking with my 3-2 prediction or maybe a cheeky 4-2.

Another great home win. Swindon were the better side in possession but in truth it wasn't a great game in terms of quality overall. Both keepers made some good saves against strong wind. Once Embleton grew into the game second half, it was his show as is usually the case.

Well done Town, showing a bit of consistency at home - long long overdue.

Chuffed to f**k with that! Judging by stats/early reports we perhaps rode our luck a bit (as did Cheltenham last week- that's football), but defended pretty well against a side in a bit of form. We've been pretty shit at home for years, this little run is very novel but very, very welcome!

A game lacking in any real quality with plenty of hoof from us, Swindon looked better in possession, but in truth it was a poor game though I'll take the win.
