Surely we can’t keep on winning away from home - 7 from 9 league games is insane.

On form it looks like it should be another notch on our away day belt. Grimsby struggle to score and we average 2 per away game. I’m not so sure, though. Reports suggest Grimsby do create - just not taken.

This is the kind of mid week norvern outpost game aspiring promotion contenders need to get something from. So I’ll be happy with a point.

On paper this should be an away win given we have the best away form in the division.

I also don't really rate Slade as a manager and when I do peruse the match day threads, Grimsby fans never come across as being particularly enamoured about their side.

Think it'll be tough game and will be happy with a draw. I'll go 1-1. We'll equalise late on from a Matt Preston header from a corner.

I just had a look on the Grimsby forum. All predicting an away win more or less.

Which means we will almost certainly lose :(

We are now unbeaten in 7, away to Grimsby on a cold wet night, Grimsby cant score, we score from all positions, all the makings of a defeat for us....... but i will go with my heart, a narrow win for us, with just under a couple of hundred fans from Swindon

Nah we're the real deal. Very confident of us achieving absolutely nothing tonight. Those of us concerned about going down might look silly considering our league position but it's very false at the minute and you have to see us to believe just how crap we are.

Our only silver lining is that our best player Jamey Osborne is on his way back and could feature.

The way Slade conducted his interview yesterday suggests that it was a BAD thing that Dixon, Woolfood and Berrett weren’t available on Saturday, which really concerns me that he’s going to bring back at least one of them tonight. Also says that Osborne isn’t ready for a start yet but how long is ‘being ready’ going to take?

If I see Scott Vernon on the teamsheet tonight, I think I’ll stop going to games for the foreseeable (except Notts County away). Sladeball makes Hurstball avec Monkhouse look effective.

I think the atmosphere might turn a little more 'toxic' this evening if we don't score a goal. 0-0 is not going to help, even if it is a point winning score. A defeat without scoring will be the worst result and I have a feeling in my bones that is what will happen tonight. Luckily I am out drinking with an old work mate who I haven't seen for years, so will not know the result until I get home (hopefully half-pissed).

After we've lost again tonight what's the odds that Slades interview starts something like: 'Firstly John we need to remember we were playing a top side tonight'.

I fucking hate it when opposition fans all go for a sound beating for their team.

Fucking hate it.

Looking at some highlights a Swindon fan has posted on twitter and we could have had 7 or 8 tonight, some fantastic saves by Swindons keeper, a few more performances like that and I may have to change my fucking avatar.
I'll pick out the goals from his twitter and post them on here soon.
Swindons goals could not have been more different, 1st sublime, 2nd OMFG Macca! :dis:

Sounds like Grimsby deserved the win. I only followed the game on twitter, including the excellent Ian as Mr Fish has kindly shared, but it did look like Grimsby had more of the chances. Uncharacteristic mistake from Matt Preston for the first and the other 2 were not defended well.

Apparently your left winger was excellent and caused us no ends of problems last night. Hopefully we can put this down as a bad day at the office and can get back to winning ways at home to Newport, who are bottom of the last 6 game form table.

Heard it was our best performance since the opening day so I can’t complain. Shows what playing two tricky wingers and not playing Scott Vernon can do.

Seems like 4 goals were sloppy defending and Anderson’s was a screamer. Swindon forced Mckeown into several good saves too so it sounded a pretty tight game.

Swindon fans are adamant that they should’ve had a penalty but our fans haven’t mentioned it. Can anyone enlighten?

I think the stat that we have played 4 midweek games and lost the lot should not be overlooked.

Seems to be a problem playing games in quick succession. I think the penalty claim was nailed on tbh - with your fella seeing red, too. Same thing happened - or didn’t happen - when we played Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe refs are reluctant to give a double whammy decision.

No. The incident was at the start of the 2nd half when we were 2-1 up. Goddard was right through and taken out.

Not that it makes any difference now. We were beaten fair and square on the night.

I must have a very different definition of taken out; if that’s given, then it’s a very soft one because there’s minimal (if any) contact on both the shoulder and leg.
