Would rather have stuck with McCall if this is the standard we’re looking at.

Craig Bellamy and Paul Ince also interested.

To be fair Caldwell is a born leader. He was captain for us with everyone looking upto him, his problem for usas manager he seemed to look to Graham Barrow for guidence instead of going with his instinct. Think he would be a good manager given the chance...

I don’t want Caldwell or Bellamy but compared to Ince dearie me! Can’t do with him, stick to watching your son get slapped about every week with the dogs. The bright side is I work 100 metres from the River Aire, if it’s Ince it won’t be to far for me to go to chuck my season ticket in.

Grayson currently 1/8, very surprised if we got him but hope to god they're right. Apparently a lot of interest in the role, we need to make sure we hire before the game on Saturday to pick the place up.

Simon Grayson would be a fantastic appointment. His record of getting clubs promoted from L1 is simply impeccable.

He has been backed with Blackpool, Leeds, Huddersfield and Preston, but believe or not, our owners are willing to invest - but only in the right manager.

I’m not one of these fans who seem to detest the new owners - I find their approach different, but ultimately, are we REALLY in that bad of a position?

With some sections of our support, our new owners simply cannot win. The daggers really have been out since day one - fuck knows why. If you look at our twitter handle it’s full of 40 year olds posting their bestest picture with McCall. It’s fucking sad.

Whether sacking McCall was the right or wrong decision, only time will tell - but for fuck sake, move on and support the boys. We’re more than capable of going on a run that secures a play-off position - and all will be forgotten.

Never normally agree with you but you're right. Grayson would be a great appointment as well, though I don't think we'll get him.

No arguing Grayson is the standout candidate, fingers crossed Barnsley overlook him and we have a genuine chance of getting him. The club are looking for an experienced manager at this level, rules out the likes of Bellamy but introduces the likes of Phil Brown (hopefully not). Tbf the opportunity of taking over at a Play Off side (just) with only half a season left and the chance to add an immediate promotion to someone’s CV is must be an attractive prospect.

Where’s the evidence the owners will invest? There’s literally evidence that they have tried to do things on the cheap, won’t pay fees for players they’ve identified and won’t pay competitive wages. You can’t say they wouldn’t invest in McCall because they were in charge of recruitment. It’s not like they were giving him money and he was wasting it.

I’m not that fussed as I’m used to it under Lawn and Rhodes and at the moment we are punching above our weight if we’ve got a mid table budget as reported. Just wondered. I don’t particularly have the feeling they’ve sunk loads of their own brass into the club over and above what they get in from ticket revenue and transfer fees and add-ons.

Simon Grayson appointed.

Really good appointment, not sure how we've got him to be honest. If he can sort our dreadful defence out I'll feel a bit more confident about making the play offs.

Very happy, after Charlton we have 11 days before the next game, so a bit of time to sort the team out. Don't think we'll see an instant impact but hope we do.

Over the moon with this, the outstanding candidate from any of those mentioned, a massive upgrade on McCall and our best shot by far at getting out of this league if we back him to get on with things.

Would be interested to get Preston fans thoughts on him, only got a Sunderland fan at work to go on. And he can't give the best assessment as he thinks the clubs fucked regardless of who's in charge.

As Mossy has said above. See you back in the Championship in next couple years.

Fantastic manager.

He starts from the back so if your good at going forward already he will have your defence stop leaking goals in no time.

He took PNE from the bottom end of League 1 to a established Championship side within 4 years on a shoe string budget.

Great appointment.

The defence comment is the main thing for me, last year we had a good record due to dominance as much as anything but in reality it's been neglected since Parkinson left. McCall said a number if times they rarely practised defending, although he stopped saying it when we went to shit funny enough.

Great! That's another loss coming up thanks to the new manager bounce.

You should be more worried about our pitch than the new manager.

Has a formula for getting out of this league, gets his teams organised and makes good use of the loan market to add quality.

It's not particularly entertaining but pretty football gets you nowhere in this league, its all about clean sheets.

Expect him to add a few players he's previously worked with in the summer.
