Echo the above, beaten by the better side on the day. We were abysmal first 45 but conceding so early on definitely took us by surprise, the other goals were just dreadful to give away. Once we got level I expected there would only be one winner but we go and chuck it away within 2 minutes. Hurts to lose to them but they were well worth it so well done to them, it's still only 1 game and there is 36 left to play. Game at Birmingham is massive now.

Just under 33k there today as well, sag are a joke.

Its not just SAG Liam, the pricing is beyond ludicrous...I don't think it sold out anyway did it?..might be wrong, but there were seats on the Kop.
Everyone muttering "Carlos out" etc..Same fans who laugh at De Boer getting sacked 4 games, Redknapp 6 in etc....Carlos out cos we lost to United?..bloody exercise in kneejerk parochiality that.
United were always going to back up amongst it eventually, just a question of getting the right manager, we have had "mind the gap" and lording it over them, you have to take it on the chin.
What annoys me more than most anything, United have shown you can do it by not fleecing their fans, keeping prices reasonable for kids and families, thats more embarrasing for me than losing to the f.ookers

No it never sold out. I just don't get your pricing, I mean what's it all about? I'm not sure if he's the man to take you to the promise land, but I wouldn't be too hasty just yet.

That 3rd goal is quite possibly one of the finest moments in my life. Incredible character. To go to a team of Wednesday's quality and completely outplay them like that wether they had an off day or not shows were not mugs and we will compete with anyone in this league

Wednesday have sold out in mean nowt games against such as Reading and Norwich, when they dropped the prices, sold out against Wolves the other year, when they dropped the prices, charge £42 against United, first Steel city derby in years...guess what?
There are problems with segregation at Hillsborough, SAG and South Yorks police are frightened of owt happening again...at Hillsborough.
You look at the Glasgow derby the other day...a few seats and a line of stewards at the most volatile game in Britain..We need half a bloody stand when we play a night against bloody Brentford!

We have the same problems at our derby and it's ridiculous really. For a working class lower league club like yourselves it's disgusting. If you go up will it go up in price?

Chris Wilder and Sheffield United got that absolutely spot on. In the first-half United defended very well against the Wednesday threat from out wide, with 2 players (the wing-back and the centre-back) closing down Ross Wallace: he only had one successful cross all game, which resulted in a goal. United had outnumbered Wednesday in central-midfield too: so they couldn't really play narrow. United also passed the ball around superbly at the back despite Wednesday putting them under so, so much pressure. In terms of attacking, David Brooks ran the show with some superb runs and passes, and he was only bettered by none other than Leon Clarke, who took his two goals well and his assist for Mark Duffy was superb, although Clarke should probably have had a hat-trick. Enda Stevens and George Baldock contributed fairly well to attacks to, and were generally always back when needed, with Stevens' long ball resulting in Clarke's first goal. United exploited Wednesday's high defensive line very well indeed, with countless superbly placed long balls (mainly in the first half) ripping apart the Wednesday defence.

Sheffield Wednesday were really poor defensively: there defensive line was way too far up the pitch, the marking from corners was poor, and the gaps between the centre-half's were exploited by United. Van Aken was at fault for at least two of the goals, Adam Reach looked dreadful and the midfield did nothing in terms of defending. There were some positives: Hooper was lively, Bannan's passing was decent and Joao took his chance very well but generally it was a really poor performance by Wednesday. However, part of the blame should go to Carlos Carvahal: as I've mentioned a billion times already the defense was too high up the pitch, and he should've brought Rhodes on at half-time and gone direct: whilst they did score twice in the second-half, they didn't create much and only had 2 shots on target in the whole 90 minutes.

I doubt I'll find out this year mate ....The last message our Chairman sent said something like...
"I know its hard for fans who can't afford it, but those that can are holding it in trust for when we reach the Premiership"
So I read from that that the prices will be reasonable...Once Wednesday reach the Premiership..
It means nowt to me , because ive followed Wednesday for 50 years...watched them home and away in every division bar the bottom one...
I go if are playing Southend, I go if we are playing Villa....I would walk past Real Madrid playin' Barcelona in Hillsborough park to watch The Wednesday play Scunthorpe in the LDV.
Ive no interest in football outside of Sheffield Wednesday...I would happily pay me money and not actually go in..if you could guarantee me a win.
Ive had a season ticket since the 70's, but its getting tight now, something I took for granted is becoming something I have to think about, and being just a working class bloke..football was a release from the drudgery, and affordable...its moved on.
How did you feel in the Premiership, following a team that had the European cup on its roll of honour, being turned over week in week out the other year..?
What is the point of being in the Prem and actually doing...nothing,... bar having the ambition to stay in the Prem, because of the money?.
Means nowt to your average Owls or Villa supporter does it?..No trophy...just the satisfaction of being in the same league as maybe 6 buggers who will win owt.

A 40K demand for the game at rip off prices and a 50- 60K demand to watch the game at reasonable pricing and it didn't even officially sell out.

Proves there's something wrong.

Think we only had just over 2K tickets. No one is allowed to buy a ticket unless you were on the SW ticket system before the season started.

Basically the SY Police don't want any away fans at these matches. Sad times really, the atmosphere would be so much better.

Also just wanted to say Wednesday fans probably have never heard of our lower league journeyman midfield of Coutts, Fleck and Duffy that destroyed league 1.

It makes no sense or logic to me but it's the best midfield trio I've seen at BL in 40 years.

The composure and quality from Fleck and Coutts totally outshine Bannan and Lees.

And the 3rd goal from Duffy turning the Owls defender inside out is just normal Duffy, he has loads of skill and quality.

Also today was only Brooks 2nd ever start in league football. He's only played as sub so far but looks really good every time he comes on. Shows little glimpses that he's far too good for the Championship.

We've deservedly won 5 out of our last 6 and should have beat Norwich last week.

Really looking forward to the Wolves test on Wednesday night because surely we can my keep on winning like last season. Wilder is now in an incredible run of wins.

Atmosphere was perfectly fine where I was, infact the fact we only had 2k there made it 10x better, never seen 30k fans bouncing then suddenly stop as quick :bg::bg::bg:

Totally agree with you mate...think we will have a similar allocation at the lane....when we take our revenge lol
I remember when the Blades had the whole West....and Wednesday had the whole allocation at the Lane..atmosphere was brilliant at both grounds...all affordable.
Today smacked to me of Wednesday being simply happy to let a modicum amount of Blades fans in...and any Owls fan who wanted to tip up had to pay what most sensible football fans see as a ridiculous price for a football match.
Well that came back to kick us in the crutch..and we simply deserved what we got

Also 1 of my greatest moments too.
At that point was happy to take a point but up pops Duffy.
A really well taken brilliant goal from probably my favourite player.

I was running around the living room like a mad man, almost ran out of the house and went onto to Herries Road to cheer the team. Would have probably got run over ha ha.

Respect to you. Following villa was a dream until the last 7 years. First game 89 watching platt bang two in, and first season ticket 93/94 when we won the cup. Been on and off season ticket holder since then for whatever reason. Always classed us as one of the top clubs in England growing up, so the last few years have been a shock. Football is so depressing now as it's just set up for the big clubs, but miracles do happen which Leicester proved.

We were poor vs Barnsley and Forest but still won. If we play badly again on Wednesday our luck might run out.

Good job we also didn't have the bottom tier like we usually do.

There would have been loads on the pitch with similiarities to the famous Ronnie Radford goal for Hereford against Newcastle. Could have lead to unsavoury scenes and bad publicity,.

Despair to joy in seconds, even I would have lost it and been on the pitch. I actually went to the tv to hug it when I saw Duffy celebrate ha.

Finest video ever that's me in the red on the right at the front :bg::bg:

Looks like you were trying to jump into the bottom tier and run on the pitch. Brilliant scenes.

Today goes along way to replacing the 3-1 Bobby Davison win at Hullsboro in 93. That night I was stood in the uncovered corner bit (that's now never opened) and we deservedly beat a top quality Wednesday team. Brian Deane scored 1 and loanee Bobby Davison scored 2.

Madness. Any bother post-match or all fine? Only thing that's been doing the rounds on social media is this - https://twitter.com/harryfox25/status/912003146645491713

Fair play to your team and manager though. It's fair to say I massively underestimated you; on paper your side looks a bag of shite but it's really working for you, you were the much better side today and deserved what you got.
