Hibs fans on the pitch celebrating, so why the hell have Rangers fans gone on to fight Hibs fans? Pathetic from Rangers fans. Put this on for the last 15 minutes and cannot believe just how quite Rangers supporters are, no chants and no noise at all.

Another very good game which I think Hibs deserved to win.

Only saw the second half but it was great. Breaking that run of 10 successive Scottish Cup final losses as well and yes they'll be playing in the Europa League next season.

Was going to watch this but slept in, sounds like I missed a belter and to top it off with Hibs triumphing late on to beat that scum, get in! Well done to them though to end that cup drought, that's some record to break and we'll done to Stubbs who always seems like a decent fella despite being an Evertonian! :D

Can't wait for Sportscene tonight now!

Made up for Hibs. It's been so long. Happy for Stubbs as well after missing out on promotion a few times.

Bah Killie battered Falkirk 4 - 0 to seal their status in the Premiership. Pity Falkirk couldn't do it but tbh Killie were also the better team in the first leg so deserve it I suppose.

Easy work for Kilmarnock in the end after a scare in the first leg, shame for Falkirk to get so far then fall at the final hurdle. Lee Clark is definitely going to have to strengthen the squad if he doesn't want to be involved in another relegation scrap.

*embarrassing

Only if it doesn't fit into your agenda to pin the blame for everything on Rangers fans.

For anyone with a brain cell in their head, its obvious the Hibs fans were at fault or is goading fans and assaulting players acceptable now so long as you don't support Rangers?

There is a right way to behave if you are making statements as a football club, and Rangers have fallen well short of that, to an embarrassing level. There were several parties at fault for a variety of incidents and there will be a lot of blame spread around over the coming weeks.

Hibs fans ran on to the pitch to celebrate a cup win, which in itself is not that uncommon. Some of these fans went over to gesture to Rangers fans, which again is something that happens at matches most weeks when fans know they are separated by stadium layout or police barriers. All it would have taken for the trouble to be avoided was for stewards to block as many fans as possible from entering the pitch (again, common practice) and police to stand between the two sets of fans. It's happened to me following Torquay at Grimsby and Carlisle, both end of season games. All you gave to do it stand there and watch until stewards regain control and they move on. Had this happened then some Hibs fans would have goaded Rangers fans, whilst the majority celebrated the cup win, all with no violence. As it was, there were no police on the pitch, and they only responded to clear the pitch once fans had already been able to clash. Considering the number of police there they will have to explain why they left everything to the stewards and did not assist to prevent any disorder.

Rangers fans had no reason at all to be on the pitch, but a number chose to go on to confront the Hibs fans, which is obviously not the correct way to respond to goading. This should have been avoided by a police presence between the two, but they were able to get on the pitch and start fighting. Every single Rangers fan on the pitch is there to escalate trouble, and the most serious incidents between fans were from Rangers supporters.

The only incident with a Rangers player that has been reported (outside of Rangers) is Lee Wallace getting shoved as he leaves the pitch. Newspapers have picked this up and the fan responsible has his face everywhere, so will get dealt with.

The police are guilty of failing to prevent the two sets of fans from clashing.

Hibs are guilty for the pitch invasion and behaviour of their fans on the pitch. They have released a statement expressing regret for the ‘over-exuberance’ of the fans, the majority of which caused no trouble at all, and have condemned those who caused trouble and promised to co-operate with any investigation, and ban any fan who is found to have done so. This is the professional way to handle the situation whilst an investigation hasn't even started.

Rangers are guilty for their own pitch invasion, behaviour of their fans on the pitch, flares in the crowd and sectarian singing. They have criticised Hibs, the police, the SFA, the BBC and Nicola Sturgeon, whilst praising their own fans for the ‘great restraint’ shown. That is why their statement is embarrassing, and is quite rightly being mocked throughout Scotland. It also demonstrates a shocking level of hypocrisy, given that it is in a statement that begins with criticising others for not condemning the behaviour of the fans. There is also the small fact that clubs getting punished for the actions of fans is not something that any club should be pushing for, least of all Rangers. They are responsible for some of the worst scenes ever seen in Scottish football, including thousands smashing up the centre of Manchester in 2008 and sectarian singing during every single game. If clubs were to actually start getting punished for the behaviour of their fans then Rangers would be playing every game behind closed doors.

Bit of a shame for the Hibs players that they didn't really get to celebrate on the pitch afterwards...

Was there still that safety risk even after the Rangers fans had left and the Hibs support gone back into the stands?

I don't think so. The decision was probably a mixture of precaution and punishment, to discourage any future finals ending the same way.

I don't think any player or fans minded too much though. 10 cup final defeats in a row and 114 years without winning the Cup has been something that Hibs fans have been mocked for all their lives. There was a fan there who is 106 years old and went to all 11, and yesterday was the first time any Hibs fan alive has seen them win. To finally win it on Saturday was a phenomenally huge moment for them, and the last 48 hours have been a non-stop party, with more than 100 000 at the parade in Leith yesterday.

So the Rangers fans going onto the pitch to simply fight Hibs fans was acceptable?

If Hibs fans have assaulted Rangers players then they should be charged and banned from football.

Utterly bizarre statement from Rangers though, refusing to condemn their own fans after 100s invaded the pitch for a scrap and complained they haven't received an apology from Hibs, but Rangers haven't apologised to Hibs, so the hypocritical nature of that statement is amusing.

It's clear both clubs had dickhead fans in attendance.

Sounds like Rangers were a bit bitter and maybe suggested had it been the other way round the media would be all over them..

Rangers add more to their nastiness as Barton signs on a two year deal.

Good signing for Rangers, surprised Barton hasn't fancied another crack at the Premiership but I suppose this is a great way to see out his career at a massive football club, with most likely some European football over the next 3 years.

Alan Stubbs seems to get linked to plenty of jobs, and I think they would greatly benefit from getting shot of him and getting someone in who will get them winning games against the smaller clubs. There's only really Dundee Utd and Kilmarnock/Falkirk to challenge next season, so as long as they keep the bulk of their talent then they've got a much better chance now that Hearts and Rangers are out the way.

Alan Stubbs looks to be off to Rotherham on a 3 year deal, which I think could work out quite well. He's not done that good a job, so get some money for him now while his stock is high after the cup win and replace him with a better manager. The money and potential at Hibs puts them amongst the best six or so jobs in the country and there's the chance for the new manager to come in, get promotion and then challenge for the top 6, which must be appealing for potential managers.

I thought he'd want another go at getting them promoted so that is a shock. He can leave them on a high after the cup win I suppose.

Don't think it's a great move for Stubbs to be honest, however I'm sure the Hibernian job wont be sure of applications it's a good career opportunity.

Neil Lennon has agreed terms to be the new Hibs manager. I think they've played a blinder here - got money for Stubbs after a cup win and replaced him with a far more proven manager.

The situation at Hibs will be pretty similar to what he had at Celtic, namely having the biggest budget and expectation to win the league. If he can do what he did there then it will be ideal for both parties. Hibs have a lot of potential (they could very easily be a top 6 side next season) but it still has to actually be achieved, and I think Lennon will do a much better job than Stubbs managed.

He's also a big name to help keep hold of the better players and possibly attract a few of the Celtic fringe players, who could absolutely tear up the Championship like Liam Henderson did this year.

Good move by Hibernian to appoint Lennon, may have failed at Bolton but he knows the Scottish Leagues well and was successful with another big budget club in Celtic. Fancy Hibs to top the league next season especially if they keep hold of the likes of Cummins.

Scottish League Cup 1st round kicked off this weekend, have absolutely no idea how the new format works. Rangers won at Motherwell 2-0, Partick Thistle won at Airdrie 1-0, Ross County 1-0 winners at Montrose, St Johnstone won 3-1 at Elgin, Kilmarnock beat Clyde 2-1 away, but Hamilton lost 2-1 at Ayr.

Only 1 SPL side in action tonight in the 1st round of the League Cup, Rangers beat League Two Alloa Athletic 2-0 at Ibrox. That's 2 wins from 2 for Rangers in the group stage.

It's 8 groups with the 8 winners and 4best runner-ups going to the next stage where they meet the 4 teams that qualified for Europe (Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs) in a normal knock-out round of last 16. Interesting is that a draw in the group stage is rewarded 1 point + penalty shoot-out for an extra point.

Great goal, 1-0 to Hamilton. This is a really good game, worth watching if you're indoors on a sunny day like me.
