Very tough game with the start Blackburn have made, unbeaten in 25 home games too. But we ain't doing too bad ourselves either, we seem to be leaking a few too many but were scoring enough at the minute thankfully. Hopefully we stick with the same team.

Rovers 2 v 2 blades.

Rovers like to attack, create loads of chances but they let the opposition have chances too.
United like to attack. create loads of chances but allow the opposition to have chances.

Should be a really open game with plenty of goals.
Suppose that means it’s nailed in for a 0-0 or 1-0.
Blackburn are well overdue a home defeat, we are playing well, so why not a 1-0 win to the Blades.

The unbeaten run won't last forever and will probably come to an end this month but maybe not Wednesday night. Got high scoring written all over this one; head says 2-2 but heart says 3-2 Rovers.

Don’t know what to say.

We look a seriously good side these days, comfortable win against a team who haven’t lost at home for over a year.

Since buying Oliver Norwood we’ve now won 7 out of our last 9 league matches.
Dare I dream about auto’s? Of course not, far too early yet but at least we’re looking like genuine prospects. There’s so many evenly matched teams this season.

Not just momentum from promotion this time, we look solid a lot of the time, we dominated the 1st half without having a proper chance but as soon as Blackburn got on top a bit and went for it a little more we pounced and won the game easily. Personally I can't see us keeping up with Boro, west Brom but maybe we can get a top 6 spot.

We lost our main player last year, Paul Coutts who played a quarter back role taking the ball off the defenders making numerous long and short passes never giving the ball away. He was top of the pass completion stats last season, then he broke his leg in November, out for the full season.

At that point we knew we’d struggle. We bought Lee Evans to play Coutts quarter back role and he was OK but tended to just pass sideways all the time. We were never the same team from November onwards and our fans knew there’d be a downturn.

This season our main man Paul Coutts is close to match fitness (in fact he came on as sub tonight for his 1st start in months). However by some stroke of luck we signed Oliver Norwood who has been brilliant playing that quarterback setting the tempo of matches controlling possession.

We’ve also strengthened the squad from last season but of course luck can play a part with injuries but we do have funds to strengthen in January and Wilder has loads of recent experience being involved in and coping with a promotion battle. Also agree West Brom, Boro and possibly Leeds are bigger favourites and I’d settle for top 6 if offered it now.

The signs are looking good but it’s early days and things can quickly go pear shaped.

I first heard the quote “quarter back role” used by tv commentators describing David Beckhams role whilst playing for England. Kevin Macdonsld used to play that quarterback role when he played for us then he played the exact same role at Wolves.

The quarter back role is a midfielder that takes the ball off of the defenders and sets the tempo/ controls the game with short and long passing.

Coutts used to play that role to great effect and now Norwood style fits this role perfectly.
Norwood takes the ball off the defenders, he has a great first touch, very comfortable in possession and he calmly plays short and long passes accurately to feet.

He then moves up to the centre circle area always making himself available to receive a pass. This means our other midfielders have improved because they always have an option to pass to Norwood when they are under pressure and Norwood can accept a pass even when he’s semi marked up. Norwood doesn’t do anything fancy, he just helps the team build a period of quick passing.

Football is a simple game and United don’t have any outstanding individualist players but every midfielder is very comfortable on the ball and abe to make simple quick passes playing triangles around opposition midfielders. We play as a team with everyone knowing their role and it works well.

Outplayed on the night. The best team to come to Ewood in quite some time, will definitely be up there this season. As for us, was a reality check really, survival is the main aim and hopefully tonight shows a few fans that we're still some way off promotion standard.

I know what you were describing but to me it's a
Deep lying, ball playing central Midfielder.
Hate how more and more Americanisms are used over here.
Especially in relation to Football.
Hate to admit it, but you have a good team, in the true meaning of the word team.

Yep, Wilder has Sheffield United playing for each other. Massive string to the bow when a team manages that - they look strong this season.

Watched this last night, Blades were excellent but I was pretty disappointed in Rovers. Don't know if it was just an off night but they offered very little.

Yeah definitely an off night, but put that down to how we'll Utd played.
Well organised at the back and quite good going forwards.
