We do it differently as usual. This is what our chairman's son posted on the forum earlier

The biggest issue in understanding here is about what a retained list is. People’s opinion of what it is / should be is not the same of what it actually is.

A retained list is something that gets sent to the FA by ALL clubs, it is well defined by the football authorities and is required under ‘the rules’.

There are a number of parameters around the status of players on that list, sometimes players are on the list list because a club is offering a contract, in other cases it’s to tie a player into clauses, like options. It can also be that the player is under 24 and is required to ensure solidarity payment. It can also be the case that it is the intention of the club to register the player non-contract.

For the record, we do most things exactly the same as other clubs, in some cases other clubs follow our lead....eventually.

Currently, the players on the retained list are players we are engaging with and have not released (that’s why they are on the retained list). This is no different to, for instance, Ebbsfleet’s retained list.

I hope I have provided some clarity around this for you.

Our full retained list has been released.

Goalkeepers: Nathan Ashmore, Jonathan Miles

Defenders: Sam Magri, Lawrie Wilson, Dave Winfield, Kenny Clark, Chris Bush

Midfielders: Jack Powell, Jack Payne, Andy Drury, Dean Rance, Luke Coulson, Corey Whitely, Sean Shields, Myles Weston

Attackers: Danny Kedwell, Darren McQueen

Bagasan Graham and Danny Mills are on contract but have been made available for transfer. Aaron McLean has retired and is focusing on just coaching now. He'll main a part of our backroom team.

Released: Jack Connors, Marvin McCoy, Anthony Cook, Febian Brandy along with youth graduates Ollie Bouncing and Karn Miller-Neave.

Good basis of a side there. Think we need a full back, one or two strikers and maybe another central defender.
So are they all under contract then? Or just that you've offered contracts to them so are not technically "released"?

Jesus, Lewis Montrose. Now there's a name to make you think 'how the hell have you managed to get paid to play football?'

You’re joking aren’t you? He should of won our player of the year and he should be playing in the football league.

Regarding Grand, I have no idea why he’s not even on the list. He had a good season. Legs have gone but he talks well and he’s fairly comfortable on the ball. He’s as good and tunicliffe and he’s better than Langley

He must have improved since we had him then, because he was fucking hopeless

The chasm between League One and National League is astonishingly yawning. You’ve just signed Shwan Jalal, the worst keeper I’ve ever seen in an Orient shirt. Keeper of the year down here (though no-one in their right mind would actually have him in the top 6 in the division).

It looks like everyone at Maidenhead is contracted for next season with the exception of Jake Goodman, who will likely join one of the bigger NL clubs or maybe move up to L2.

The other players out of contract (Sean Marks, Sam Barratt and Harry Pritchard) have all found new clubs now.

He was bloody brilliant for us once Gannon got hold of him (he was decent before but lacked discipline).

One of the best players we’ve had since dropping into non league.

We’ve agreed terms with an experienced centre back. Grand was the only local name that came to mind.

I've noticed someone's got a slight obsession with the spireites...

Regarding the keeper though, I'm sure Jalal will be solid enough, he's just won this league so can't be that bad can he? Although the criticism is understandable coming from an orient fan seeing as you now have the legendary Dean Brill between the sticks, I cannot contain my jealousy. :bye:

Where’s Pritchard going? Strong rumours he’s coming to us.

Surprised Marks went to Hornchurch. Thought somebody top end of the South would have gone in for him.

We offered him a new deal but he wanted to move back to Essex.

That limited his options somewhat but like you say I expected him to go somewhere like Chelmsford.

Yes, I’ve commented a couple of times on an ex-player. I must be obsessed!

Jalal is shit. Brill is shit. Welcome to non-League. And be sure to look up ‘mutual exclusivity’ when you get five minutes.

Chelmsford would have been a good move. Marks is a player I've always rated.

Jalal can look good at his best, but I'm pretty sure Chesterfield could have got a more reliable goalkeeper in. We've had better and more consistent keepers playing for us since we've been non-league for the last 40 years or something. Wrexham fans were fairly content with him being released last summer. Dunn wasn't perfect in goal for us and has just been released , but I don't think I've heard or read anyone arguing that we should have kept Jalal instead.

While there have been we didn't give Elliott Durrell enough of chance and should have kept him comments.

Martin Allen has confirmed - Sinnott turned down Alfreton. Brewster free transfer. Smith is to be seen in training and will be reassessed after 3 weeks. Willock and German can have free transfers. Wakefield coming back for pre season . Rowley is staying - he’s quite good says Allen
