Seems to be a clusterfuck down there between FGR, Chesterfield, and Port Vale.

I was literally just thinking this as I came on the forum.

Despite not liking either team that much, ffs Chessie and Vale sort your bloody act out and relegate those who should not be named.

If either of you two are in the mix for relegation come march I will shave my hair for charity!

Yeah we're definitely in this for the long haul.

We don't have anywhere near enough going forward to win games to get out of this thread

Looks like I was right when I said both Chesterfield and Vale will struggle this year, only for one particular Chesterfield fan to assure me that I was so wrong. Goes without saying that he hasn't been on this board for quite some time now.

As for Carlisle going down, give me a break please. They are comfortably a mid table side, and I reckon they'll be around 10th-14th come May. Out of the teams they've played so far, only Cheltenham aren't top half sides. Nearly all the L2 fans (plus the bookies) had Mansfield, Coventry, Swindon and Lincoln down to make the autos or the play offs at the least.

First village team to reach the league, and first club to be relegated straight away

I don't think we'll go down, but we're in this thread for the long haul. I don't think we've got anything going forward to propell us to a mid table finish. We'll be in and around the bottom third of the league all season.

Chesterfield and vale have enough quality to stop up, especially now Chesterfield have sacked Caldwell. Their squad is actually alright, though not anywhere near a top 7 one.

I've no knowledge on port vale to really comment.

Though some go straight through to league 1 I hate it when folk seem to think that clubs can just walk into this league - however wank it is - and just assume they're going to stop up.

Until we get to 50 points I refuse to exclude us from this thread.

(Admittedly in our current form that will happen before November but still, could happen.)

Far too early for this. Marathon not a sprint, who's to say that ourselves, Vale and Chesterfield won't be fighting it out fit the title come the end of the season?

Because there is no such thing as "Fit the title"

Hopefully this evening will be the turning point... judging by his radio interview on the special show tonight following Browns sacking the owner is coming back... isn't selling so needs to make the right appointment... going to Vale legends such as Rudge and Sproson for advice so hopefully takes that rather than Jose Mourinho this time.

Got some decent players in that squad that look disorganised and with zero confidence... it'll be a tough job but not impossible to get us out of it with the right man.

We won't be going down now that Brown has gone, as long as the right appointment is made this time. There is more than enough quality, and experience in the squad.

Guess we will soon learn if it's true that he'd lost the dressing room.

Don't even know why we're included in this thread tbh. Far too good to go down, as we showed today.

Mods please remove these silly promotion and relegation threads as it is far too early and please BAN anyone who makes them, BAN THEM, BAN THEM ALL !!!

There is already a general chat thread, so just use that for now.

Port Vale remind me very much of us.

A team in terminal decline, complacent water treading for a few seasons then the shit hits the fan.

It's not that bad in the National League, really. You'd be one of the bigger sides and you can reminisce about your football league days when you're about to face Maidenhead away and tell everyone else how tinpot they are.

It was a gamble to take that next step up that's put us in this mess. If he hadnt hired Bruno and Morinhios advise we wouldn't be in league two now.

The next week or so will dictate our fate and the appointment is crucial... went to Maidenhead in the cup don't want to be going there in the league that's for sure!

Well, we managed to lose there. Don't know which result was more humiliating, getting beat there or losing 0-2 to Fylde at home.

Love the National League, it's fucking brilliant.

Sounds extremely tinpot. Not sure why you're bringing it up on here though. This is a forum for fans of proper clubs in a proper league.

It's like when the tv pundit casually discussed who'd be England's 'keeper in the next round despite them/us being deservedly behind to Iceland.

Or when you're a goal behind to some plucky minnows from three divisions below you in the Cup.

Surely we can't really lose to these...can we? Surely we'll turn it around...won't we?

Surely a club of our size won't go non league...

..will it?

Good that you're not one of the 23 other proper clubs in this league so we have to make up for that gap

Just looked in my Football League club guide, and I can't find a "Hartlepool." What is it? Does it have a football team?

I read the league paper cover to cover looking for a clue as to who "Hartlepool" might be, but couldn't find anything there either?

Couldn't see anything on football on 5 or Sky Sports news either, but they show every relevant team's goals on there? I'm utterly confused. Have you made that team up to be edgy?

A football league guide? Now that is proper tinpot.

Bet those pages are well stuck together with salty vegan excitement paste. Enjoy it all while it lasts

That's bollocks and you know it. How would vegan paste get on my guide when I'm not vegan?

That icky sticky stuff is where I spaffed everywhere dreaming of our trips to Crawley and Stevenage, if you must know.
