Aren't Oldham and Northampton occupying the other two spots?

Yes and in worse positions than both Gillingham and Bury but aren't crying over it after 5 games.

Let's not praise the Oldham lot for continually thinking they're better than they are

I actually saw shoots of recovery today. And we haven't played anyone I'd say are certs to be down there. I'm not concerned yet. Let's wait and see what happens with this takeover

Keep Vaughan and we aren't going down, we've made some solid signings so far, especially Dawson.

We lost 12 in a row last season and even that wasnt enough to send us down.

Not saying we're gonna set the world alight either, we'll finish 14th or something is my early prediction.

People still having us down as relegated is a laugh... unless we go into admin by Jan.

Aye because that's how football works ain't it you thick twat. We've made considerable improvements to our squad, and 'we are always down there'.. but we weren't ever relegated were we?

You name 2 players we've signed are past it (calling Stephen Dawson past it is very dubious). Yet we've signed 9.. 2 out of 9 ain't bad is it.

I'm sorry but there is just no way we are finishing 19th again...

Yes, but we have a considerably better squad this time around than in the seasons you've mentioned.

What a difference 5 weeks make.

Well, I do believe that everything he said at the time about the quality of the players is still true. It's just that the quality of the players doesn't really matter if your manager is shite. It's like if Edinburgh or Caldwell went to manage Arsenal - yes they may have really good players in Lacazette, Sanchez, Kosienczy, and Cech, but Caldwell would most certainly relegate them to the 4th Division.

Most Arsenal fans would take that over Wenger at the moment.

I'm relatively relaxed about our start now we've fired Edinburgh. Our first 4 games have been against 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 8th as it stands so it's not been an easy start. Also I think we've got a good side, they were just used ridiculously badly.

I'm hoping I don't have to post on this thread, but with all the summer turnover of players, manager etc.. We've started pretty poorly and look like a team with a lot of individuals who are struggling to make the step up. Hopefully within the next 5 or so games we should be start to look better, however we could be into 8 or 9 games without a win.. Gets hard to pick yourselves up from that.. Already looking at 6 without a win (if you include cup games)

Our main issue is confidence. Last two games, we've been well on top and dominating for the first 20 & 30 minutes successively, concede a goal against the run of play and our heads just go completely. Rest of the first half has been a bit of a mess, before sorting ourselves out at half-time and going on to win the second half. Could really do with a) scoring the first goal in a game and b) not collectively shitting it if we do concede.

I think we'll be in trouble, but we aren't a million miles away from being competitive despite the whiny bastards all over twitter.

I think we're deep in the shit, especially where goals are concerned. Can't see us pulling out of the bottom four with our current personnel and coaching team.

Personally, I don't think it's a case of players struggling to make the step up so much as the pretty substantial overhaul of players.(we have plenty with previous League One & Championship experience).

I'm happy with Jackett's approach so far. He's massively brought down the average age of the squad - the average age of the starting 11 on Sunday was under 23, whereas we were around 29/30 last season. Also, I reckon he's brought in players of a higher standard than those we've had, plus he's identified and given first team experience to our promising academy players. They just need time to gel.

With the strange exception of Blackpool, the other two promoted teams haven't fared much better and yet they've had continuity from last season. I reckon we'll be fine but the next few weeks may be rocky.

This, cant honestly see where we will pick up points, shame it hasnt worked for pennock but he is clearly out of his depth and needs to go asap with a new man un associated wih the club brought in and no more jobs for mates

There's a major problem with our strikers, we just can't score although we're not conceding many. Either it's the formation, a confidence issue, or team cohesion. Something has to be done or we will be in the relegation mix.

For the first time in nearly five years, I'm wondering how long Neal Ardley can remain in charge.

Are you mental?
They'll get their first wins v Portsmouth. We are an extremely charitable side. Always have been. Not won in 27 away games.. Come to Fratton Park!!

We are so unpredictable at the moment. Just signed 3 foreign lads, who come with a good rep but never played English football

We could do a vale or if they live up to their calibre we could be shooting up the league

God knows what team we will put out sat.

One things for sure don't have us on your bet slip going forward cos we could do anything.

With this investment it's going to be an interesting season either way

Scored two crackers first game, but unfortunately been very anonymous since. Looks slow and lumbering

Only seen Pitman once, this year. He can do an absolute bullet header. I imagine you have to be really set up around him to get the best of that.

Our main issue is confidence.

Based on Saturday, your main issue is not being very good. Sorry.
