MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

  • Reading have won the last three FA Cup ties between the teams, two of which have gone to replays and extra time.
  • Their only previous FA Cup fifth-round meeting was in February 2010, when the teams drew 2-2 at the Madejski Stadium, with Reading twice coming from behind to win 3-2 after extra time in a thrilling replay.
  • West Brom haven't won at Reading (in all competitions) since January 1995 (D4, L6).
Reading

  • Reading haven't won since beating Walsall in the fourth round (D2, L1).
  • Their only goal in those three matches came from the penalty spot.
  • But they have scored nine goals in their last two FA Cup matches.
  • Five of those goals came from Matej Vydra, who has scored six in his three FA Cup games so far this season.
West Brom

  • West Brom are unbeaten in seven FA Cup games against lower league opposition since defeat at Reading in 2011 (W4, D3).
  • The Baggies' last two victories (in normal time in all competitions) have been 1-0 away wins.
  • They have lost only two of their last 12 games in all competitions - but both were away from home.
  • Saido Berahino has scored eight goals and assisted four more in his last seven FA Cup games.

With Vydra a doubt due to injury and Kermorgant cup tied we will have even less attacking options than we normally do and West Brom are a tough side to break down. At best we may get a replay.

Outstanding performance. Haven't played like that since the end of September. Shows what the side is capable of. Apart from a 5 minute spell at the start of the second half we were in total control. Could have won by a few more.

The post match entertainment wasn't bad either. West Brom fans at the end of the game fighting each other and some bright spark from their end chucked a coin that hit Chris Brunt.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Good call! (This bit was a reply to the earlier post)

What sort of wanker chucks a coin at his own player because they lost, though..

Yeah outstanding prediction from me. Not for the first time either. Thankfully didn't put any money on it.

West Brom were terrible. We're a team that has about 15 points from our last 20 Championship games and we comfortably beat them. I think its safe to say we would have been more worthy of a fourth goal than WBA of a second. They basically had two chances all game.

Not sure who i'd want in the next round, probably West Ham. Problem is that it looks like for almost every team that is going through that the FA Cup will be their main priority this season so we can't expect an easy game.

Would be happy with Shrewsbury or Man United at home. Don't want West Ham. Most of my family support West ham and i would never hear the end of it if they turned us over.
