bloody wtf with the title of this thread?

Only a moderator could edit the thread title, it is ok though as I have informed admin and they are looking into it and when they find out they will BAN the mod who done it and appoint me as mod in their place.

They may not be breaking the bank with their signings, but I'm sure a number of other League Two clubs wish we had Luton's big club draw. The players they have signed probably wouldn't have been willing to sign for any other League Two club.

Good that we have a potential banana skin of our own coming up next... the reason I say that is that I don't want to do Morecambe a disservice, but really, we know we should be winning that one. Had we lost 3-0 to Luton a couple of months ago we'd be crowing about certain relegation but it doesn't feel so bad.

Or the original poster. You could edit the general match thread title if you so desired*

Our wage bill is the lowest its been in 3 seasons.

Players out

Vassell £1.75m
Marriott £450k
McGeehan £800k

All of the above have add ons also, and our young current second choice right back we rejected a £1.8m offer for.

Players In

Collins 250k
Berry 300k
Stacey ~75k
Cornick ~50k

Sick of hearing about how we are 'buying the league'. We have a warchest for this level and a new stadium on the way through a great business model.

Hows that for dick waving.

Plus the final large instalment of the Andre Gray knock-on's, and a fiver for Jake Gray from Yeovil.

Only shite teams get hammered off Luton like Yeovil and Cambridge etc.

We gifted them 2 goals.

I demand some kind of inquest into how Luton got £1.75m for a 23 year old with one modest season in the Football League behind him.

Forest are going to be able to sell Grant for a new world transfer record or something if that's true.

You remember Mrs Wainwright in Last of the Summer Wine... well I reckon Luton's chairman is a bit like that.

You do know that Harry Redknapp was the manager of Birmingham when they paid that amount for Vassell don't you?
Does that answer your question?

This is the expected goals rating from experimental 361

The big jump is the penalty Luton had, which are worth so much because they're such a good goalscoring opportunity, but skews it a bit as the chance that was denied by the foul that led to the penalty usually isn't going to be as high, even a decent chance isn't scored in 80% of occasions (case in point last weekend when we were awarded a penalty against Yeovil when the ball wasn't even in the box).

So it paints our midfield and defence in a decent light at least, although we didn't create many chances ourselves. 1.5 will be one of the lowest ratings Luton have had all season.

Must admit I find the application of xG, especially in the lower leagues, a bit confusing at times. Potts scored from a free header a few yards from goal and Shinnie from a shot from around the 6-yard box but that seems to have combined for about 0.4 xG. Then Cornick scored when clean through on the keeper and even had Hylton next to him if he fancied passing and that looks like 0.1 xG? But the penalty on it's own 0.8?

I'm just not convinced that, at our level, the quality of the information data going in is good enough to generate accurate stats. Garbage in, garbage out.
