Felt enthused enough by Saturday’s performance against Bury to start an individual match thread again after a round in general :box:

So on to Boundary Park, scene of the great escape a few years back and some decent games in the past including a ding-dong league cup R2 tie in front of almost 11k the year both clubs were promoted to the top flight.. :surr:

Will we build on the Bury game with another decent performance and at least a point. Or will it be one step forward, two back, ala a couple of weeks ago when we followed up a win v Tranmere with a thumping at Grimsby?

I’m going for a hopeful 1-1 - Kellett on the scoresheet for us.

Well done Wooderson ! Start a specific match thread for Notts = thumping away defeat .

Time to visit a bookmakers this morning but I am still onboard the HMS Ardley.

Not got a clue what's going on at the moment but barring the farce at Carlisle we should win.
We are always likely to produce a Carlisle performance though.

Ill pluck a 1-0 win out of thin air based on absolutely nothing and hope wild can do the same

We're at a point where we can't afford many more useless performances. If we fall back to the levels of dross we've been served up for most of the season we'll get comfortably beaten and morale for players and fans will be back on the floor.
Good performance and a point and it would start to feel like the possibility of something positive building.
Head says home win heart says a scrappy point.

It’s a very good point, people always rightly talk about it all being about the points and the performance doesn’t matter especially in situations like the one we are in and that’s true. However there is a huge difference in losing a close game with a decent competitive performance Vs not turning up putting in Dross and losing comfortably.

If we go there and roll over and have our tummy tickled, this will have another big detrimental impact on the squad and morale. Completely agree with Optipez, we can’t afford to drop to that level again regardless of the result

Prediction in : 2-0 Oldham , just too weak minded away from marvellous meadow lane

what numbers do you think you will bring today I’m hoping for a good turn out from you despite your league position as for the match I gotta be confident of a 2-0 or 3-0 to us

No more than 400 surely. One 0-0 home draw versus a promotion chasing side isn’t enough to change many if any Notts fans attitude to Away games this season

Wonder goal but complete fluke at the same time. Cross that went in the top corner and his reaction said it all

As expected one step forward (albeit a 0-0 draw) and two back!

Colchester away next!

Nothing escapes you Adam when it comes to Football. Are you sure you aren’t related to Spanishstag?

At least we got to kick off before the inevitable invasion from the unwashed from the North.

Match report please from any in attendance

They just haven't got it in them to stay up without some better players.
Worst defence in the league, awful away form, can't score more than one in a game, often don't score at all.
It's screaming relegation , has been all season without better players.

Notts came to defend and snatch something. We were struggling really to break ya down before a wonder fluke goal went in from the touchline.
The sub was clearly a more attacking tactical manoeuvre but the early second half goal knocked the stuffing out of ya and it was a walk in the park from there.
Other than one off the line at 0-0 You offered nowt although I would say it's tactically where you are lacking. I've seen far worse teams. If you actually have it a go rather than sitting back you could have taken something today. Don't rate your keeper much though

Hmm our keeper is terrible, someone who’s lack of presence in the box has contributed a lot to our troubles this season. Played every fucking fans though. Ridiculous.

Soon as we go behind we’re done.

It’s difficult to have a go, open up a bit when you have concede 3 or more goals so many times. After 0-0 with Bury, a solid defensive approach was the way I would of gone. Weak minded away from home without doubt. Concede late when leading and never comeback from going a goal down. Let’s see who we can get in

What will Mansfield fans celebrate more, your promotion or our relegation?

I imagine it’ll be like all your sisters have come at once.

Tbh, we’d enjoy both equally.

Hope you had a good afternoon :fl:

Great question lol You can’t blame them tbh, right now is the best time to be a Stags fan since the 1970s..... maybe ever?!

It’s long overdue and after decades of being the ‘pimple’ (Quote of the season) I would celebrate being in the sunshine and heady heights of the 3rd tier of English football with us likely to be in the 5th! Great times to be from Mansfield and a Stags fan

To be fair to me, I was one of the few who didn’t rate him then either. The warning signs were there IMO - he got away with a few, and we just weren’t under so much pressure so his massive issues with crosses weren’t exposed so often.

I thought he looked shaky when he started but very good once he'd settled. Nolan crushed him, totally froze him out for six months then bizarrely decided to make him No1.
This season though he's been all over the place. I thought he was jittery August and September best of the defence October and November and gone backwards again in December.
He needs replacing but jeez, we've no RB cover, LB worth the name, drive in the middle or power up front. Terrible spine, spineless just about sums them up.

We badly miss Hemmings. Annoying that his injury doesn’t even get mentioned in the official team news etc. Hope he is back for what is looking a massive pair of fixtures against Cambridge and Yeovil mid-month.

I got back from my world travels and 90%+ Stated that Fitz was as good as Collin and only lost his place due to his moment of absolute madness and sending off.
Then close season arrived and again didn’t hear anyone upset with the club’s decision, in fact most rightly said it was a good decision as saved the club wages as he was a lot cheaper than Collin.

Tootle and Jones combined drop in form could be seen by no one. The combination of mistakes and unforeseen changes could very well leave us#stained

I think that Nolan wanted to keep Collin. He didn't exactly freeze Fitzsimons out as well, he had the number one shirt and then randomly kicked a bloke to get himself sent off and lose us a point.

That moment of lunacy was the obvious trigger to give Collin a chance to get back in and stay No1 after injury. If he hadn’t kicked that bloke , there was no sign he would of lost the No1 shirt as he had impressed plenty during his time as first choice albeit in a decent side with an impressive defence (that season only clearly)
