No thread for this game?!

Always look forward to this derby.

Really? Not for me.

Norwich stadium announcer just told them to sing their anthem and had the words on the screen. Just about sums this derby up..

Norwich fans applauding in the 16th minute to celebrate Ipswich's 16 year stay in the Championship

Mick will hold for a 0-0 I'm sure. Possibly the last man alive you would want incharge of a derby game. Always play for a draw.

Hate it when a chance like that falls to a defender and the commentator says "it's fallen to the wrong person"

No, I'm sorry but any professional footballer should be able to just kick a ball into the net from several yards out.

It is. Similar sized clubs, similar sized towns (and the largest towns in the area), similar sized counties (and alot of rivalry between the counties), similar league placing over the last 50 years or so etc. They hate each other and don’t see any other game as “big” - both would rather beat each other than Man U.

Not all of us have two club cities but doesn’t mean it’s not a derby. Fuck me, even Barca v Madrid is classed as a derby these days.

Lol at Norwich equalising in the 95th minute to stop Ipswich from winning for be first time in 13 years at Carrie Road.

Great last five minutes to a pretty uneventful derby, poor old Mick, looked like someone had just told him they’d run his dog over when their equaliser went in

Define a Derby then mate

A game contested by two sides located in reasonably close proximity to each other.

The same way any football fan would define it.

That’s why they call it the East Anglian Derby. Two counties where the majority support the team team in their county.

I'm well aware of why it's called the East Anglian derby.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are not from neighbouring counties though so don't really get your point.

I don’t get your point. For east anglia, that is local, hence it’s called a Derby.
Out of curiosity, would you call Plymouth v Exeter a Derby?

My point was that Barcelona vs Real Madrid is not a derby, which it isn't. What's not to get?

Like I've said, I know why the East Anglian derby is a derby, I've never questioned it. It falls well within the definition.

Yes, it's a Devon derby.

I’ve misread your ‘no, it isn’t’ post :ffs:didn’t realise you were talking about Barca and Madrid

There's an hour and 10 between the clubs, it's like us calling Preston a Derby game. Rivalry fair enough but not a Derby.

Tbf, the Ipswich fans were singing “your football is shit” for about 40 minutes before the goal, fully justified reaction from Mick.

Can you honestly say that you would enjoy watching that week in week out? He kept the one player that could create something on the bench and instead put on another defender at 0-0.

It's the same region though.

There's over an hour between us and Brentford but it's still a London derby when we meet.

You then went 1-0 up to be fair but get what you're saying.

That long? Granted both clubs aren't within touching distance but an hour seems a long commute on the tube.

I mean point to point it probably isn’t but it certainly takes over an hour to get there be it by tube, train or car.

You wouldn’t be sat on the tube for an hour, but would have to travel into London first.
