Massive signal of intent from South Shields who sign Josh Gilles from Darlington. They have to be favourites next season.

That's the fourth acquisition from Darlington this summer the Gillies signing, following in the footsteps of Gary Brown, Chris Hunter and Phil Turnbull.

If they can cope with the loss of their captain Julio Arca due to retirement, they'll be a force in this league. I would imagine they'll be short price favourites for this division.

Prolific goalscorer Dale Hopson has re-joined Whitby Town for an undisclosed fee from Blyth Spartans. Hopson, 25, joined Blyth Spartans last summer, but couldn't resist the chance to return to the Turnbull Ground when Chris Hardy called.

Well, that's a strange move i thought he was doing well at Blyth.

The Northern Premier is quite interesting this season because its one of the first seasons in a while there is no big bankrolled or huge ex league side involved. (unless you cound Scarborough)

Means good management might be the key this season to the title,

Can understand South Shields going for it because their budget just on crowds will be better than the rest, but may be hindered by location........How come the North East has risen so much over the last few season........investors usually for Newcastle/sunderland having to now look lower? The Sunderland mess meaning their fans head elsewhere for now? Fans of Newcastle/sunderland deciding its cheaper to follow non-league than do away games??

it is good to see, area is a football hot bed

Following Max Hunt's move to Derby County, Zak Brunt becomes the second player from the successful Matlock Town academy to make the move into Championship football, with Sheffield United.

The 16-year-old joined Matlock Town in 2017 and played numerous times for the first team squad. He also captained the academy in the 17/18 season.

Staly really really need to get an 3G/4g pitch.

When your at the first friendly and the pitch already looks in a bad shape it suggests many postponements again.

May be an idea of where money can go ifwembley sold to help clubs who cannot afford a decent pitch an ability to change for sake of keeping fixtures going

It was barely playable when i was at our game at the Bower Fold back in March 2017. I think it was Staly's first game back where the pitch was finally playable after a very, very long time.

It's a shame, great ground to visit.

I think that was when Oldham rugby club played there for a bit and trashed it. There was also talk of them moving to a new place around that time but I think that's gone quiet now. But if the pitch is still shit even now the ruby club's moved out then they should get a plastic one put in. Certainly seems to have worked well for Hyde.

Fagbola was a youth player with us - pleased to see he's playing at a reasonable level.

With Hyde United getting promoted he must think he has a better future here than at the sinking ship of FC United! And still only 24-year-old - btw - how i miss my away days visiting the Spotland!

Yeah the pitch was shit last year, dunno if they've had any work done since like. Not sure whether they could afford to put a plastic one in. Plastic has got Hyde promoted back into the NPL. After a slight decline.

Gainsborough Trinity have secured the services of vastly experienced 35-year-old defender. Neil Austin, on a deal that keeps him at the club until the end of the 2018/19 season.

He is most remembered for over 200 Football League appearances.

The chippy is still there!

Not the same without playing Darlo and Pools. Both of you needed back in the league (preferably replacing FGR and Crawley).

Seriously, the chippy is still open! We use to always pop into the chippy from the pub.

No it's not the same, but unfortunately we've gone down different paths over the years. Our's to the depths of hell and back. And your's a more prosperous route in the league.

But you never know I might get back to that chippy one day? How the time's have changed with the likes of FGR and Crawley climbing the leagues. Who'd have thought!

South Shields FC supremo Geoff Thompson has revealed £4million plans to build a new stand and community hub at Mariners Park....

Another bankrolled club rattling a few cages with their wealth, we'll be playing South Shields shortly in the league when they eventually arrive.
