Two clean sheets in a row and unbeaten under Paul Cox. The Barrow boys were spot on when they said he would concentrate on making us hard to beat as a first priority. Funds available as and when he decides to use it.

I wasn't there, but that's a fantastic win. Given their respective places in the league so far, a 3–0 win at Orient is no better really than the same margin at Sutton or Morning Wood, but naturally we love the nostalgia-fest of occasionally beating a BELT, and on more than just luck. But I'm sure it is an advantage to play Orient early on, when the relegated sides are more likely to be in disarray. We'll relish it for now, but two bad games will see us plummet halfway down the table again!

Well played Boring wood, There does seem to be a mental bock descending over the whole club , when we play this lot ,although , this was a better game and performance from us than usual a, bit of luck for BW goal, just before half time, and we just knew that was it ............. a superb save from a free kick by their keeps 5 mins from time, best team I have seem this season..... Our home form seems to be letting us down so we need to amend that on Saturday when Chester visit............

Played well last night in the main and probably should've won but for a lack of a goalscorer. Better side second half. I'd have taken 0-0 at the start though. The levels of work rate and application are completely unrecognisable from the turgid crap earlier in the season when we suffered some humiliating results. Good to play a proper club as well, felt like a football league game.

Defensively we look very good now, but apart from Franks, there's nobody clinical enough in the box. I think we're much better than the 17th we are now although where we finish will depend on whether we can find a way to take the chances we are creating.

Hartlepool were the better side of 2 sides who in all fairness struggled in the conditions. We had a non contract gk making his debut, as our both Dunn and Dibble are injured. I thought he did ok behind a back 4 with 2 forced changes. The lad Rodney seemed to go down at the slightest touch, and at one stage I thought he had suffered a career threatening injury, until 5 seonds later when the ball went through to him and he looked like the next Usain Bolt!! If you lack a goalscorer than God help us - I think we still could have been playing and not scored. The lad who hit the bar maybe should have scored, but then we went right down the other end and nearly scored. Although you were probably the more likely to score - in all honesty the game had nil-nil written all over it. On Saturday we play Guisley, who have kept 2 clean sheets in a row, whilst we have 5 and generally can't score. What odds on another nil v nil?

It did in the end... that's why we needed new ownership asap when we got relegated.

Didn't it only go tits up when the randomers stopped pledging money, though?

I was one of those randomers

How the f did that work? Did you literally get an email asking you to pick a team one day, then the next day asking if you'd like to spend some money on a new player you'd never heard of?

I cannot believe all this negativity about Micky Mellon, I am sure I read many posters saying he would have got Tranmere up as Champions last season if he'd started the league instead of Brabin?!

We seem to be deteriorating instead of improving, which is concerning. Halifax deserved the win, but 0-3 is seriously flattering. We missed 2 open goals and an absolutely free header, so fair play, if we can't take simple chances, we deserve to lose. Denton up top was phenomenal for Halifax, and the whipped cross from the free-kick for their second was absolutely class. Our 2 CBs, playing together for the first time, were clueless.

On a more sour note, that's one of the worst penalty decisions I have seen in years, thought the ref, and particularly one of the linesman, was absolutely atrocious last night.

Fair play Halifax, Orient very poor for the second game in a row. Nailed on for that coveted 14th spot come May.

It will be an easy win for the monkeys hangers on Saturday who, like a lot of teams we're playing, have found form right before playing us, bloody typical.

Solihull Motors were terrible in the first-half. They clearly got a rocket at half-time and put up much more of a challenge in the second. Expected them to be down the bottom of the league before the season started and definitely do now.

Onto Sutton's cup final on Saturday.

Others on your forum say it was an absolute stonewall penalty and that there is a video on Twitter (which I am unable to find) which proves it.

Solihull's penalty looked a bit soft.

It did, but it was clumsy by Carter and frustrating that Wynter then clears the ball a fraction later. He made up for it by scoring the winner.

3 penalties we've had given against us in 5 home games now. 2 of them never penalties, including a blatant dive by Eastleigh.

You've got to hand it to the National League for their quick start to the season in reffing out the 'unpopular' part-timers.

We will beat you though. We always do. It's THE LAW.

Good to see you're already thinking about your cup final. Get out and dust off the red carpet for me at the away end again please.
You're welcome!

Brilliant result for us tonight, expected a point maximum but we've come away with 3 in what sounded like a solid away performance.
The league is crazy this year, we've been pretty average and had some shocking results yet find ourselves 3rd! Surely this league is there for the taking? Never seen anything like this before.
Oh, and finally, who else is looking forward to ChrisFGR being back on this forum next May?
Not me ...... we've lost 11 straight games to them.

Pretty much. Numbers dropped and by 2013 I think there was less than a thousand. It was always destined to go that way though, especially with some of the people involved. Some cracking people have come out of it though, one Tranmere fan even moved down here. It's his 2CW derby this Saturday. :) one guy comes over from Italy several times a season. Unfortunately there were too many idiots.

Interesting that the best manager the new Chester have had is only good enough to be our new head scout. I believe we have vacancies for ball boys if any of his successors are interested. :bdick:
