The Bromley no 18 was intent on trying to pick fights with our defence and mouth off at ref and was subbed late on.

George Porter. Has literally zero maturity and can't cope when things go against him. Pleased that our epic shellacking at Hayes Lane is looking steadily more like an early season anomaly. On plastic.

Thought we did well today, 18 year old up front and bagged himself a goal. Although Gateshead had a lot of possession they created little just one save to note, plenty of crosses but not much else. I don't think on paper we've had an easy game yet but still unbeaten and top. Cheek out for 6 weeks is a big blow of selling Hawkins, need Whitely back quick. Hartlepool and Sutton next.

How do you know he's out for 6 weeks?

I wouldn't have said it was a pen myself, but hey ho. Typical Dover performance this, but it's effective. Fair play.

How can it not be a penalty?

The Dover player got to the ball first and took control of it. The Tranmere player, trying to clear said ball, whacked the Dover guy in the back of the leg making no contact with the ball.

It's as clear a penalty as you can get.

Also got lucky as he kicked out on Wright after he won the ball from him in the build up for the 2nd goal. Already on a yellow as well

Have seen loads of those types not given before, 90% of the time outside of the box mind. Went to clear it but wasn't quick enough. I wouldn't have been happy if it was given against me anyway. Players are too soft these days. ;)

Don't think Tranmere played that badly and am a little bit frustrated not to of taken something from the game. Was at the opposite end of the ground to the penalty incident, so didn't have a clear view. Looked a bit soft to me.

He's still got alot to learn and is naive at times, but he has the attributes to be a very good lower leagues striker. He doesn't stop running!

He's just such a natural finisher; has that instinct in front of goal. Never got a fair chance here and was always shoved out wide, but give him a run of games up front and he scores goals as he's showing. Wish he was doing it for us.

Watching that game was like Groundhog Day for Tranmere supporters. Dominate possession for long periods, miss chances and get caught late on with a defensive lapse. It is a pattern we saw time and again under Brabin and is now being repeated under Mellon.

We did not use the wing back system effectively and there is a real lack of width, with Mellon seemingly not trusting any of the wingers he signed in the summer. With Alabi out of the picture as well, there are big question marks over the manager's recruitment.

Difficult to know where we go from here, as I don't sense any appetite for another change of manager, but we won't even make the play offs they way we are performing.

At least you'll get a point from us.

"In the letter of the law, that's a goal" - really? No attempt whatsoever to give it to the keeper, despite the commentators best efforts to say he didn't aim for the goal and that the keeper made no effort to get it. How have I not seen this before?

I would not bank on it.

7 draws in 8 games.

Has Alabi just been dropped completely from the squad?

Bizarre if true. He's scored goals for a worse team at this level, surely you have to keep faith?!

He has not even been on the bench for the last two games. He has looked completely out of his depth so far, although I don't think we have used him properly.

How have you used him?

As if he was Andy Cook for the most part, playing balls up to his head or chest. He is actually crap with his back to goal and the ball generally bounces off him.

I think he scored most of his goals at Chester running the channels with balls played over the top, but we either have not instructed him to do this, or he has not got the football brain to keep doing the things that got him the move here in the first place.

Surprised you haven't played him with Cook to be honest.

Yes, me too. I think they only played one pre-season game together. Mellon started out with Alibi and Norwood, and then went back to Cook and Norwood when Alibi struggled.
