He has a Conference North title on his CV, which was achieved with one of the smallest budgets in the league. The bit in bold would seem false if he had a large budget. One of the loudest voices on Deva Chat2 insists we retain him for next season based on that assumption. Not convinced myself though.
? Are you saying you think he had a small budget, or have you quoted it from a source ?
Pretty sure he had a generous budget the season he went up ... a lot of those Solihull players now playing for us. Not saying it was at the level of Salford, but they went overnight from an below average CN team, to champions after acquiring a much better team.

Tranmere was an extremely poorly run business in the final years under Peter Johnson and needed to reach FA Cup quarters or sell a player for 1m plus every season to minimise losses, so any comparisons of staffing levels etc should be viewed as efficiency driven.

The above China figure is very different to the one I’ve seen from a very close source at the club. I do suspect that there is a separate company for Tranmeres non footballing operations though, looking at last years accounts.

We were supposed to be sitting in a rebuilt Prenton Park next season, but a relegation and failure to get promotion put the brakes on that. Likewise with external investor.

Which figure, the £600,000 Huntsman94 suggests or the million(s) Nicola mentioned in the Trust meeting? Where does your close source pitch the amount of incoming China monies?

While I think it's true in part about PJs final years running TRFC, there seems to be some belief that he's propped us up with some monies in the Palios era, when there has been a shortfall.

Are you all talking the same language? Turnover or profit?

Interesting, are there some accounts published that give that China figure? I know at the Trust meeting last year Nicola Palios indicated it would ultimately bring in a 6 figure sum, but no timescale given.

Made an unspecified loss on the concerts last season. Think this season's are minimal risk or benefit to the club.

Personally can understand the economics behind closing the academy but youth development is an important yardstick for a supposed community club and it will be interesting to see what if anything we do for local U16s now.

There has been penny-pinching in terms of the match programmes, club shop staffing etc, which is why I’m a little wary as to the shape of our finances.

No accounts published no. Just some very sure ITK info :bg:

The China stuff is already making money and has so much potential for the club. It's actually incredible what the club are doing in Inner Mongolia. To have signed contracts with the government of the pilot province for football in China in their aim to win the World Cup by 2050 is some going.

I don't believe half of the figures being bandied about in this thread, but I think we are still relatively stable financially. If we stay down, we will have a competitive budget again next season.

Presumably, you’re not suggesting Nicola Palios is unbelievable? Though as I noted earlier, there was no indication of when we’d be seeing the 6 figure sums coming in from the China enterprise.

Next season’s budget is hard to gauge. If we stay in this league, think both season ticket numbers and crowds will erode. My guess would be a reduced budget, if one that still ought to give us a chance. It depends on who comes up and down as to how competitive that will be.

There is little ambiguity in saying our work in China will bring in a 6 figure sum.
Over what time period ? If it is ten years as opposed to one month, there is a hell of a difference.

I am certain the work in China is making us decent money, but I don't believe it has earned us a fortune (yet).

Yes, I agree. When Nicola initially mentioned the potential gain from China it sounded good, but on reflection, as my earlier remark, no time indication was given. I'm not trying to double-guess what she means here though, maybe a question for a future Trust meeting.

We are ditching Bignot at the end of this season, it's been announced. His post-match interview after Friday's embarassing display suggested he knew this already. Onward to the Conf North. Hopefully it can't be as woeful and depressing as this season,

Where did Jay say that?

He did say he doesn't want a complete clear out and he has a good idea of who is staying or going. That sounds sensible to me, as does learning from two seasons of struggle and not giving players opt out clauses halfway through the season. I would agree he is often too loyal to underachievers.

It is, even if you're winning. Will NY get the job again now? If Young doesn't want it, better grab Billy Heath now, before Stockport, York, or Darlington get him.

His comment about not wanting a big overhaul implies he wants to keep a lot of them. If anything we should be looking at big changes, not just small ones. This is a squad of players who in half a season have only won 2 games!! its painfully obvious a lot of them aren't good enough. If it werent for Pigott & Hines scoring for us early in the season we would of been relegated by now.

The first one out the door needs to be Delano ''one league goal'' Sam Yorke......yes he might run around a lot, but forward wise hes shocking. Woking & Lincoln fans were bang right about him

Worth pointing out this may be slightly misleading. Some Agents receive their fees direct from the players and as such would not appear on this chart. That aside..what on earth are York up to? Barrow high, clearly as the agents have to travel to Barrow.. which anyone would demand compensation for.

So the list of NL teams who haven't paid agent fees in the last year is:
Sutton (2nd)
Boreham Wood (somehow?!) (3rd)
Dover (7th)
Ebbsfleet (9th)
Bromley (10th)
Maidenhead (15th)
Maidstone (18th)
Chester (23rd)

We don't do agent fees in the Shire

Hardly worth it for whoever Aldershot paid. You might as well not have bothered for £112.

The link between Barrow and Guiseley is a certain Paul Cox, who has links to an agency himself, along with Glenn Tamplin if rumours are to be believed.

Came here to point this out. Also, if rumours are to be believed, Cox will also have seen some of that £30k find its way back to him... Allegedly.

Hardly a surprise we forked out. We had zero senior players and no scouts 6 weeks before the season started.
99% of scouts are either freelance or work for agencies. A lot of that is done by statisticians too.

Don't like to say I told you so when you appointed him, but.....
Reputation built on nothing I reckon, and now to add to his CV is getting Chester to be the first team relegated from Nat League this season
