Old boys fired up, baiting the Stags fans. One or more of Green, Palmer, Rhead nailed on to score one or more. We will lose this, mostly due to momentum. Probably 3-1?

Who cares about the game, we're 100 away from a sellout. We're fucking massive.

Seriously though, it's gonna kick off between Cowley(s) and Evans.

For parking, Mansfield fans, I'd suggest LN5 8LQ. It's an NCP car park and only £3 for 2-24 hours. I was there the other week on a speed awareness course...only a 10 minute walk from the ground so not too bad.

If you want to try street parking, I'd suggest getting there around 11am at the latest because it'll be heaving. The fair will be here, which attracts thousands, there'll be 9k-10k at the football and there are about 15k students coming in for the start of Freshers Week as well.

If you want to park at an NCP one where, as you walk to the ground, you can pass pubs and places to grab something to eat, then LN5 7EX. That's near the Uni at St. Marks, so probably not too advisable given the above with students. Bit more expensive at £5+ for 3 or 4 hours.

First local game so the place is gunna be bouncing Mansfield may well be overwhelmed by it.

Home win or Draw.

Hope Angol doesn't get a bad reception. Played his part last season. Don't necessarily think he should get a good one either, neither here nor there doesn't really warrant anything. Mansfield offered triple the wages we could afford no-one can blame the lad.

Green brace.

I think we were all delighted when Lincoln were promoted, there was a massive thread about them on stagsnet, we know what it's like to get out of there. Lincolns run was almost as good as ours in our first season here, though after the 1-0 win at Chesterfield it went south.

Presumably more home fans than the last time, it should be a cracker, we sold out over a week ago and the fans are hoping for a decent performance. Will be in Lincoln for 11 on the train from Manchester via Sheffield so any tips would he good

We can't afford to lose here, though I've a sneaky feeling we will, which wouldn't go down well

I'm on a weekend away but I'll be making a brief detour to Lincoln for this, looking forward to it.

I'm confident if Evans gets it right we should come away with at least a point.

Green/Palmer/Rhead almost certain to score.

Don't forget Arnold staggies, he's a former player for you guys too and my daughter's fave player, overdue a goal too.
Evans is hated by us and has been since him and his big fat gut rolled into Boston in 1998 as he did nothing but gob off about us spouting absolute rubbish.
Apparently all our players over 6 foot tall! I must have grown recently cos I'm taller than at least 4 of them and last I checked I was 5 foot 9!
Seriously should be a cracking game and heed Luke's warning on the parking it will be nearly impossible luckily as season ticket holders we all get free bus travel and the bus we use drops very close to the ground.

I suppose that's what brings the extra dimension into it, make of it what you like but even green and rhead (legends) and Palmer (over rated) wouldn't get close to the starting XI but it's pleasing they've found somewhere they can ply their trade. Green will obviously score

More pleasing for them seeing as they're plying their trade at a club higher in the pyramid. Progression.

I'm sure they'd warmly receive your sentiments though during this tough time for them and their careers.

I'd happily clap either/or/both green and rhead. Legends. Proper fans don't forget what they've achieved, even when they've moved on

I actually can't wait for this. Should a great atmosphere.

Evans will definitely get sent off, Green will definitely score. We'll definitely lose 3-0. Should a good day though! Where can we drink before? Getting into Lincoln about 10ish.

Quite a few of us are heading to the wetherspoons, but going in 2's to avoid detection (or that's the plan), coming on a train that's not from Nottingham should also help us.

Meeting a couple of mates down there, i'm on the train on my own from Nottingham so shouldn't be too bad hopefully.

Green and Rhead will get a good reaction, Palmer will not for being a absolute twat to the club who introduced him to full time professional football.

Not sure what time places open, tbh. Walkabout on the High Street is probably a good bet because you know what you get there but Mailbox, which is slightly further down and closer to the Stadium, is probably better. That's got pool tables an outside area, games machines, TV's etc and does good food. Or maybe on the Brayford but that's probably more an area to go if you fancy a nice meal before the footy, which is probably unlikely!

I only say to avoid Spoons because that's a place that away fans often use (along with a fair number of normal home fans), and the, er, 'locals', know it. There always seems to be potential for it to kick off in there, and probably more so for a local game like Saturday. Didn't happen too much in the NL but the bigger games did attract it (Tranmere and Luton being two). It's better there from a distance point of view to the stadium, though.

All that said, there are quite a few pubs down that Spoons to SB route IIRC. Can't say do that side of the Stadium much, though. So I couldn't tell you what pubs are called down there (if they're still there!).

I *think* there was one called the Shakespeare, which was a home fans only pub but that changed hands and the new owners decided to ban football fans. That was the only way they made money by all accounts so they dropped a bollock there.

The problem being is whereas it's not big, clever or funny, if there are fans "out for it" unfortunately, there is always a fair number of Mansfield fans that will be happy to throw themselves about, which is why we have the daft KO's times, though our police to have the tendancy to rapidly over-react.

Tbh, a pub with decent ale with no hassle would be just fine.

If you've got plenty of time on your hands I'd recommend trekking up Steep Hill and trying pubs like the Magna Carta, which is next to the cathedral. Bit of an effort though and you'll be well out of the way, but it's proper ale on offer. Again, not sure what time it'll open though.

Like Luke says, Mail Box is a good, safe bet. I'd also recommend Lloyd's Bar (Square Sail) on the Brayford.

I must compliment you on your condescension skills given Lincoln have had a slightly better start than Mansfield

We will be comfortably above Lincoln and County when it actually matters though.

I wasn't aware that the season had started when Green moved in June.

I think AdamStag pretty much says the same thing about every player that leaves Mansfield.

At least he's lowered his first figure from £400k, even if he is still a way out. Difficult to be consistent in what you say when you're lying because you have to remember what you said the time before.
