We're only all jealous, If we could swap places and have a near on sell out every week at home we'd take it obviously.

Been some ride for the Imps fans under Cowley, Especially the ones who bothered when you were shit..

Fair play to them though, From Concord Rangers to Huddersfield in 4 years!

No sour grapes from me on Lincoln losing the Cowleys, it was inevitable and a question of when not if. That's the price that all lower league clubs have to pay for success; the managers and the better players are all poached by bigger clubs.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not interested in seeing the effect this managerial change will have on the home support. I reckon the gates will more or less hold up if the new manager proves to be as successful as his predecessor was, and the Imps really have to go for the right man, which of course is easier said than done.

Btw, I'd be amazed if Flynn leaves Newport for Lincoln (or any other club).

It's a shame no-one came in the close season, they could have had Flitcroft.

Didn’t even know the Cowley’s had left Lincoln until just now reading this thread.
No piss taking from me, what they’ve achieved at Lincoln in the last few years is pretty remarkable.
To take a team with 5 consecutive bottom half National League finishes all the way to the top 5 in League 1 is a fantastic effort and they deserve their chance at a higher level.

Dino Maarmia canned by Stevenage.

Odd decision. Missed the play offs by 1 point last, doing a respectable job on what can't be a massive budget. Now after a bad 7 games, he gets sacked? Feels harsh. Maybe Stevenage fans feel differently?
A big thing thats screwed them/him over, is that the seem to keep picking up injuries - Which has been partly blamed on Maamria's training and fitness schedules I read/heard somewhere, he also seemed to keep rushing players back.

He has slightly screwed himself there, the other week when they played us I thought they were poor for the majority of the game.

Flynn seems a decent manager but does anyone else think he comes across as a bit of a dickhead?

You also called it that AFC Halifax would win the 13/14 National League play offs and be back in the Football League when you started a thread in the League 2 section after you won the first leg of your play off 1-0.
What happened? :dk:

Lincoln losing the Cowleys. Good, now starts their slow and steady decline back to their rightful place, the bottom half of L2. Been a good ride for the glory hunters over there, but let's see what their crowds look like once the winning stops.

Be a double bonus if they take Flynn as a replacement, although if I'm him, I'd give that position a wide berth. Maybe he could take over and carry on where the Cowley's left them, but it's a huge ask for a club of that size, especially given all the players are Cowley recruits.

I'd want to give it a proper go with Newport and see if I could take them up. He's from that area, so maybe getting him to leave what could be a promotion chaser. Unless he can work a miracle and get Lincoln into the play-offs and promoted, I only see decline for them. They are realistically at the peak of what they can achieve, how does Flynn hope to emulate that?

Stay at Newport and try and get them promoted. A bigger team than Lincoln will be along if they finish in the top 3/7 this season.
Is that right? I mean, I think our average L2 position in the last 20 years is 9th/10th or something and that's been with no investment or money (bar the last couple of years (7th and 1st).

On the face of it Dino being sacked looks harsh, given extra time things might have improved but I don't think he really had it in him to progress the club to the next level, so given the start I'm not too surprised to see him being shown the door.

Off the pitch the club is really pushing to try and make us a sustainable football club, coming up with ways to try and generate money and build the fanbase. I don't think the football we played under Dino was entertaining enough (and this season successful enough) to get/keep bums on seats.

Injuries have been an issue this season, as alluded to above it's possible the injury issues were of our/his own making.

I like Dino the person, I think he has a great attitude and having met him in person, he comes across as a genuinely decent guy, so on that level it's disappointing to see him leave.

Looks like the Sampson and Revell partnership is going to be given an opportunity, I have my doubts but I hope they succeed.

The Cowleys leaving has been on the cards most times a bigger club has come up over the last couple of seasons so it’s no real surprise apart from possibly the timing.

We do get around a million (allegedly) in compo so it will be interesting to see who we can get in. Keeping and establishing us in League One is the main remit I would imagine. The club has a fantastic forward thinking chairman and board of directors. Now with Danny and Nicky leaving we are in a much stronger position on and off the pitch than when they joined and probably one of the best squads we have ever had.

Whether the new guy can keep us from any sort of major slide will be crucial as it’s been an amazing 3 and a bit years. I reckon the attendances will stay fairly strong for the near future anyway.

I wondered if that may have had a part to play in it. With the badge rebranding, a higher profile shirt sponsorship, the public share offering, the new stand etc - seems like the club's ambitions are growing and having just missed out on the play-offs I would think expectations are a bit higher right now and the start doesn't tally up with all of that.

Flynn is interested and has had an interview so it'll be a straight shootout between him and Ainsworth, as per the bookies, IMO.

Not too much between them really.

So why doesn't Mark Sampson like Nigerians?

First that ebola joke to Eni Aluko and now this stuff at Stevenage. Not good.

Styles not a million miles away, but not sure even those two teams play the Lincoln way enough, not enough shithousery and the ball spends far too much time on the grass in comparison to ex-Cowley's FC. The significant knuckle dragging element won't like that at all.

Think Flynn is one of those whose face fits the picture at Newport. Not sure he'd do so well elsewhere.

This is of course based on nothing but my own gut feel.

Lincoln should go for Tony Pulis.

Or John Beck. Would be a seamless transition.
