Well you would have to complain and Mansfield proven guilty.

If he’s actually coming here it probably means we have agreed a compensation fee.
Unless he resigned before.

You’ve made an approach now and we’ve rejected it (according to BBC). To me it sounds like you’ve already spoken to him. If you have, I hope the appropriate penalties will be coming your way.

It doesn’t make sense that he would come out and say this randomly after our game, tell the players he’s leaving and then you approach him, which was rejected - it makes no sense

All I say it that will be out of character, when we took Flitcroft from Swindon we did it the right way.

By the way, when Steve Evans left Mansfield he told the club it was to go to China, but he ended up at Peterborough and we basically made them pay up £250,000 compensation or face legal action, so it would be very strange for the club to do similar to Bristol Rovers don’t you think?

Let’s see what happens, but it’s a bit unfair to speculate on that before he has even joined Mansfield.

Maybe you have the money to burn lol.

I agree, let’s see what happens - but an investigation will certainly be needed.

The part I’m very curious about is how this all came to be. Someone’s claiming he’s been tapped up, which sounds possible with the series of events.

If we complain, not sure what the penalty would be for Mansfield?

You expect a penalty to be imposed after Bolton?!

I suspect a quiet word would have been had with his agent to find out if he is interested, then approach Rovers.

I think most managers are tapped up to some extent. Anything official only seems to go in once they know there's interest from both sides in the job.

This smacks me of Coughlan just trying to get a new contract.

The Club can confirm that it has reluctantly given permission for Manager Graham Coughlan to speak to Mansfield Town about the vacant position at the One Call Stadium.

Two approaches were made last week by the Sky Bet League Two side requesting permission to speak with Graham Coughlan about the manager's position, both were rejected by the club.

However, it became apparent that the interest from Mansfield was significant and due to the fact that Graham had been working away from his family home in Sheffield for the last decade, it was evident that he would welcome the opportunity to work closer to his family and we therefore reluctantly granted permission to Mansfield to discuss terms.

Joe Dunne led training this morning to prepare the squad for Tuesday's Emirates FA Cup replay at Home Park and he will continue to be assisted by Kevin Maher, Adrian Tucker and Lee Mansell.

The way he has conducted himself is quite frankly disgusting. Initially, I was angry at the board, but that seems misplaced.

I have lost all respect for him quite frankly. We rejected 2 approaches, whilst Mansfield still had a manager. 2 weeks ago he's calling for more unity and to get behind him & the squad. Suddenly he engineers his own move away from the club who rewarded him with a long 2 1/2 year contract in his first job in management.

F*ck him. He's not bigger than the club.

Enjoy league 2.

Well, what do I know? Odd move.

Hmm, it stinks from a Rovers point of view, but I can't blame him for wanting to be closer to his family and he'll get a decent budget. Probably not the best career move for him on paper but could go either way. We do have ambition and a bit of cash but it hasn't translated into any success yet.

Nathan Jones rejects our approach as he doesn't want to drop to L1 unless it's a team like Sunderland etc.

Must say, I'm a bit surprised - sure he did a good job at Luton, be he was so f*cking awful at Stoke, I'm not sure a championship team would be interested.

Paul Heckingbottom apparently our 1st choice.

Paul Heckingbottom has had a bit of a poor do at his recent clubs hasn't he?

Yeah I think since Barnsley he was a total flop at Leeds.

Did really well at Hibs when he took over, but started this season poorly and got the sack I think.

I see why the club want an experienced manager who’s been promoted from L1, we are in a great position and need to keep the momentum up (although it seems likely JCH will be sold). Personally I’d be interested in the Barrow or Bromley managers

Ben Garner announced as manager.

Interesting appointment. Plenty of contacts, knows L1, Championship & above very well and is clearly a really top coach, as was Coughlan.

These things can go either way, but his contact book will be needed in January.

Did I hear right on Quest last night that Oxford fans were recently shouting for Robinson to go?

You heard right but they're wrong. They took a few vocal people on forums/social media as being representative of the fanbase. They aren't.

And it isn't recently as it was at the end of 2018 when things were a bit desperate as we were sat in the relegation positions with a number of our pre-season key signings (Carruthers, Holmes etc) injured for most of the season where KR had taken a punt.

Robinson had a good January window and we have since been one of the best teams in this calender year. It has taken him time to stamp his approach on to the club but it is happening now as can be seen all the way through the club from 1st team to the Academy. It helps that the club has invested in and got the training ground.

Robinson really has got us playing some lovely football.

I was annoyed when I heard that, as it portrays a very inaccurate picture.

As MarkedOx says, it goes back over a year, was a small but loud minority of people, and couldn't be further from the truth now. Karl is doing a great job, not just of putting together an exciting and entertaining team, but of immersing himself into the Oxfordshire community, and respecting the club's history (unlike a certain chippy Yorkshireman now managing Sheffield United!). He is very well liked and respected here, so the Quest soundbyte was far from the truth.

On the subject of Quest, I like Colin Murray, who is generally well informed and doesn't patronise lower league football, unlike some of the Sky presenters. The coverage has got better. However, Sam Parkin cannot bring it upon himself to say anything positive about us (he's ex Swindon) so I really hope he has to give his thoughts on an Oxford United promotion in a few months time. I'll set record for that!

Yeah he’s been granted extended leave, apparently his 6 year old daughter is in intensive care. Really sad and I hope she can make a full recovery. As it seems he was informed pretty much at the full time whistle, I’d assume it was something quite sudden.

I must admit I was quite annoyed when he didn’t turn up for the post match interview (which looked like he was hiding from the fans), but this is really sad and a sharp reminder that there are many things more important than football.

Great, just in time for us on Saturday.

Not that we would have got anything, anyway.
