Is this guy on a childish, unprofessional sulk or is he injured?

Well, it's publicised that he was already sulking since the deadline. I imagine him not being picked for the City game is a punishment from the club for said sulking. He'll be back for the next fixture, playing Mahrez vs City could be a terrible PR move.

I agree with the Monday night club on this. He has played very well despite repeated moves seemingly being on the card. He had the chance to go to an elite club (with Pep you cant dispute that) and win the sorts of things probably unimaginable to him. It is understandable to be disappointing.

Clubs and fans show very little loyality themselves but expect everything back from players they want to keep.

The thing is he should have got a release clause put in his current contract.
Although nothing official was said by the club it was mooted that we'd listen to offers over 50mill last summer. None were forthcoming and Roma tried to shithouse it a bit (20mill opening bid! Gtfo). So with Citeh offering 65 he probably reckons he should be allowed to go. The fact the markets inflated massively and the cocks up north who like to still play the plucky everyman act came for him with no time to replace him obviously isn't of interest to Ryad, but it sure as shit is to our owners.
Lots of pundits take the view that 65 mill is good money and we should have taken it. Then in the next breath talk about how it's good to stick to your guns and not just roll over for the money clubs.

Mahrez is fully committed to The Foxes! :box:

"My goals have always been the same and I have always given my full 100 per cent when I play for the club, the fans, and my team-mates. Those goals remain the same today and in the future and, when I am asked to be a part of the Leicester team, rest assured I will continue to give my all."

It’s taken him a while to clear his head. Now he is focused... until the summer transfer window. We need to see Mahrez in the Champions League! :sna:

Mahrez can’t live in the past. He deserves to play in the Champions League NOW.

Given his petty little sulk at not getting his own way, I'd say he deserves very little. He needs to show he's professional, knuckle down and help the club he's paid a great deal of money to play for.

He’s a modern footballer. It’s a different game out there now. If any big club come knocking in the summer his head will turn again.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
He'll probably score the winner this afternoon.

You know exactly what I mean. Is he likely to ever win another trophy at Leicester?
No. It was my way to say that, despite winning the Premiership with Leicester, big clubs still have a big pull and winning trophies don't matter all that much a few years down the line. Mahrez still wants to play for a bigger club despite the title win. I find this quite sad somehow.

A club signs you for half a million quid. You play an instrumental role in promotion and then title wins. You become an asset for that club in excess of 12000% of the original fee, and yet somehow you're the bad guy. I will never understand this. You don't get to sell human beings for millions of quid, or any sort of money, and then try to claim the ethical high ground.
