Off the crossbar from 25 yards, absolute rocket. We are hanging on a bit here. Not had much of the ball although we look like we could score on occasion too, especially from set pieces. Your 'keeper is a bit of a flapper!
Certainly sounded like you've had as many if not more clear chances, though tailed off a bit and seems sometimes Akinde looks around for an outlet after good work and doesn't have options.

I remembered Lincoln being a hoofballing side, but fuck me must get neck ache watching this shite every week. Awful.

Half their budget twice their skill.

Thick twat Gav Gunning kicking the ball out when 2-1 down in added time, and he's on a yellow. Lucky he didn't get a second.

Definitely a moral victory (again). Would hate to play like Lincoln.

Nice of us to give Luke a couple Birthday presents I suppose.

But would you mind playing that way if it meant you were top of the league?

And to add, we played some dreadful football today but we are badly out of form and our central midfield is mostly unfit, so needs must. Bostwick was immense.

Add that on to the undeserved victory pile. We certainly didn't deserve to win. Not a great performance, but, I am, and always will be, a results guy! The win today was the most important thing given our points tally in the last three games.

As much as it pains me to say it, because I hate what Vince has done to that club, FGR are a very good footballing side. Having said that they do a lot of the football in areas that don't hurt you. They also have a lot of players that look to take on players and make things happen. Yet bizarrely kept having lots of pot shots. Though one did crash against the bar, if they had been a bit more patient they could have created better chances.

FGR may have had all the ball but I think we created the better chances. Our midfield looked very slow today and was completely overrun. O'Connor was particularly poor. However our defensive line was immense at times.

Hard luck anyway Forest Green, you definitely deserved something and will definitely be up there come the end of the season. We ultimately need to improve to ensure that we remain up there.

Into perspective, we have just beaten FGR with

Shackell with 18 stitches in his knee
Bozzie with a strained quad
Frecks trained once on Friday
O'Connor not trained all week and needed pain killing injection to even get on the pitch.

Completely disagree we didn't deserve it- pretty diamonds in play is worth jack sh*t if the ball doesn't end up in the net.

FGR centre pairing were dreadful, at fault for both our goals whereas we restricted them to two shots on target 2nd half (and one of those was a free kick).

We were immense in defence 2nd half and, for me, thoroughly deserved the result today. Like I said, pretty football is pointless if you can't create anything with it.

Ground out the win with a patched up side. After 3 games without a win FGR are the perfect side to play because they're a soft touch.
No Cooper side is ever up for a battle and we'd have most likely drawn against a bottom half side with some steel.
Hopefully get back into some form again now that we've found a win.

Fourth game on the trot where we were poor IMO, yes I agree with StrangelyBrown that we were good defensively but we were also non existent in midfield. Very little football from us today, though you cannot argue that although FGR play nice intricate footie, we have already nearly won double the games they have.

FGR were the better side for me but It's a results business at the end of the day so playing poorly but winning is a good habit. I doubt we can continue playing like this and be as fortunate though.

Think it's more like we've just not quite solved the striker problem if Reid is injured. Shepard dropping out late disrupted the defence too. Not sure why if you have heart you're second to the ball or giving it away half the game. Just that you also have some decent players who can take the chances when they come their way.

I agree we were the walking wounded (though didn't realise Shackell was playing with stitches). Like I said FGR play it around in areas that dont hurt you, but personally thought FGR deserved something. Just because we were playing with unfit players doesn't mean we deserved something.

Until we caught you on the break for the winner (lovely move from us I thought ) thought rovers were just waiting to pick off the winner as they running rings round us at times but our second seemed to knock them out their stride and ended up launching it in injury time.
Who got a bit carried away when you levelled up?
To have four players out there half fit and win testament to what the Cowleys have instilled in them.
Bosticking and Shackell were superb and Akinde did a great job ploughing a lone farrow up front and took his goal with great skill.
A big win against a decent side.

Interesting stat from today

FGR 16 attempts on goal, 5 on target
Imps 6 attempts on goal, 3 on target

FGR <30% on target, Imps 50% on target.

Haven't seen a club try so many long range shots in a long while.

It was a relatively typical FGR performance and you can see why they have drawn so many.

Playing pretty football across the midfield will get you so far, and no-one can argue you won the battle of possession. But it was hardly a siege mentality towards the Lincoln goal. Vickers hasn’t had a save to make bar a few routine ones.

Lauding possession is well and good but there isn’t an awful lot of penetration and that must of frustrated the 100 FGR fans, particularly in the last 10 minutes when the ball needed to go in the mixer.

From out side we didn’t play great, but took our chances when they arrived and defenders resolutely. Which was enough to gain 3pts against a supposedly superb FGR performance.

Genuine message to a Lincoln supporter who can get message to his club from a FGR supporter:
Tell your club that an old squaddie who annually attends Remembrance Day parades, including a few at the Cenotaph in London, thought the ceremony before start of game was almost certainly one of the most emotional that I've ever been to.
The respect shown by the 8,500 crowd at start of the bugle playing the last post until the prayer will long remain in my memory.
Lincoln did good and many thanks to everybody.

Lincolnshire was bomber county during WW2 and has an historic affinity with the RAF particularly- our "singing" section is called 617 squadron after the Dambusters (hence the Dambusters theme being played before every game).

Not that it matters when it comes to Remembrance Day but we are pretty impeccable when it comes to things like this and the comments are genuinely appreciated.

Funny how each set of fans see things their way (and we are no different so am not taking a holier than thou approach).

Worst piece of cynicism yesterday- FGR Gunning took out Bruno Andrade when he was running full tilt down the left wing and had clearly beaten him for pace and skill. Yellow card (crowd naturally screamed "off, off, off").

Walking back to prepare for the free-kick, Mills (FGR No 23) high fived him for the "tackle" whilst grinning at each other.

Every team plays the same way in terms of falling over (Mills acted like his leg was broken after the tackle and yellow card for Andrade then got up immediately the card was issued and walked off without a hint of a limp).

ALL clubs take the same gamesmanship approach, including Lincoln, so please at least recognise how your own team "play the game" as poorly, or as well, as any other.
