In fairness to Klopp people might moan that he didn't play his best side, but this team gave West Ham a much better game than the so called strongest lineup.

A good chance of going the distance in this competition, certainly hope you get further than a lot of the others that are still in it.

Yeah he has been good tonight, he'll probably still get castigated though particularly if they lose the tie.
It's already begun mate. Benteke and Mignolet getting slaughtered on my FB feed

Benteke linked up well tonight and been involved, something he hasn't been doing recently. His decision making at times could've been better and certainly the finishing should've resulted in a goal or two, but I'm not going to criticise him for tonights effort.

Extra time it is, Liverpool are doing their utmost to play the most games and minutes of any team in Europe this season!

I notice that this "most games per season" plan doesn't extend to winning cup matches. A fatal flaw.

In with a shot at two trophies chappy, already in the final of one, and tonight it went the distance. Good effort all round, unlike some teams.

I'm not disheartened by the result, thought they'd get pummelled tbh, but they played well enough and with Studgy fit, Origi and Coutinho back there is hope they can start to improve on the results going forward. The luck wasn't on their side tonight but its football, it happens. :2thumb:

Got me thinking about a whisky tonight now though ya sod! Had a bit of a sore throat and stuffy nose so I could use it as an excuse to have one (or two, or three...) :p

How many more teams are going to overtake Liverpool in stature before the owners wake up and sort it out?

They would be so much better if they binned Sakho and Lovren off for the rest of the season (and then forever), let Lucas and Toure or a wet floor sign play in there and they'd be far more successful.

Well, after having time to reflect on that I'd say it's one of my favourite games of the season and there's quite a few to choose from.

It's very nice to be able to avenge Gerrards winner at Cardiff when we'd been the better side to then reverse it completely. Liverpool probably were better overall but if you're playing a donkey like Benteke up front then you're not going to do much. I was resigned to penalties at the end and knew that if that was the case then we were going out as that's something that Liverpool are actually very good at. Then when Ogbonna scored that header it was brilliant especially as Payet had been crap all night and then put in a cross like that.

If that's our last FA Cup game at Upton Park then it's definitely a good one!

Women writing about women
Throughout the game our risk/reward-management was ridiculously poor. Even though we come across as the better team, I reckon we'd still lose this game about six or seven times out of ten. We rely too much on being successful in difficult situations, essentially evening out whatever advantage we have in player quality.

Usually during our attacking play in the final third, too many players set themselves up for the player with the ball being successful in any given situation, whilst not enough players actually set themselves up to help the player to in fact be successful. As a result, you keep thinking "fuck, if only this or that" whilst ignoring the fact that we effectively minimize our chances of being successful. It'll always come across as if we're so, so close to basically scoring five or six, but we never do because we focus on the reward while at the same time ignoring the risk.

There's this one situation that comes to mind, we're on the counter 3v3. Sturridge, Ibe and Benteke I think it was but that's irrelevant. Perfectly decent chance to begin with, Benteke with the ball if my memory serves me right. What happens is that both Sturridge and Ibe go for the deep run, the run relying on Benteke making it past his one man. If he does, it's a guaranteed clear cut goal scoring opportunity. But as West Ham aren't amateurs, they simply react to this by pressuring Benteke with two of their three players at the back back, so they're in turn relying on Benteke not being able to dribble past two players. He's never in his life getting past the pair of them, of course, but in the biased mind of a supporter it's just that final ball. In reality it's a systematical error and while it's a 3v3, we're underdogs by a huge margin.

At the other end, we essentially make mirrored mistakes that I can't be bothered pointing out, it's been done to death. But the result is that while it's correct that we're the better team in the middle of the park, it's incorrect to say we lose unfairly. We don't lose unfairly every week, we just systematically make the wrong decisions when we're on the verge of a clear cut chance. Ultimately, we control the game but not the chances. We control the rewards but not the risks. And we keep doing that. Over and over.

We'll keep losing and it'll keep on looking as if we're a bit hard done by. We're not. Well done West Ham and good luck in the next round.
