can't even compete with their team pumped full of ped's. shameful. sturridge has a good finish on him for left midfielder mind, so there's that at least.

can't help but feel robbed of the real final, dortmund vs sevilla tbh. though tonights result did offer up a small serving of justice, given the confirmation of liverpool's disgusting cheating. sevilla ripping them apart has preserved the dignity of the competition, to a certain extent at least.

I'm disappointed though not surprised. We've been running on fumes for a while now. The second half showed us what happens when the motor stops completely.
The sad thing is next season will be no different to this one. Except FSG will spend millions on getting us 6th place.
I hope to christ FSG use the protest against ticket prices increases to keep their money in their pockets. If the supporters want us to compete, then they need to dig deep or accept the fact there is no free lunch.

The system under Rogers and now Klopp won't win us anything. The players are too drained come the business end of the season. Wenger has to cope with the same problem in his system. Although he copes with it through shrewd player purchases and creating enough talent to step into the breach when the injuries and loss of form occur.

Klopp is no Wenger. He'll be looking for a huge transfer kitty. Hopefully FSG will give him 15m and tell him to fund the rest through player sales.
Anyone who disagrees with this should look at Man Utd's recent attempt to buy their way into the CL and tell me how that's going?

You've no European football next season and have a bigger squad than the title holders. Leicester started the season playing a pressing game and depending on the oposition have adapted to playing a counter attacking style of play. Few injuries no fatigue. There's no reason Liverpool should be more knackered than anyone else. Either your players are fannies or your training methods are crap.

Or we've played 63 matches this season, more than anyone.

But it wasn't fatigue that killed us yesterday so it's a moot point.

We're talking about next season, so if you suffer from fatigue with no European football either your players are fannies or your training methods are crap.

It's a cumulative effect.
It's a bit like preparing for a marathon and treating it like a sprint. I guarantee you won't reach the finish line.

Dortmund's spectacular collapse last season under Klopp. Our not so spectacular collapse with Rogers.
Is it sheer coincidence?

I think not.

Just saw this comment from John Aldridge (presume its not made up)

John Aldridge said this ahead of the final "Liverpool have the edge for me. They've got experience in European finals. I'm not sure Sevilla have ever reached one, certainly not recently."

That is some lack of knowledge!

I knew Sevilla would give Liverpool a game, don't know where all the media bias came from at all. Domestically Sevilla are arguably a better side than Liverpool right now, and their squad had 2 years of European final experience before last night. Disappointing for Liverpool going to be a challenge to get back into the Champions League now, can't see them attracting top players. However being out of the Europa League could be a big benefit as they can purely focus on the league.

Because Klopp spent a shit ton at Dortmund didn't he?

He's been in the job for about 8 months - and it sounds like you're writing him off already. Bizarre post - do not see Klopp looking to chuck £200m around a la Van Gaal.

Also, I was another Firmino raver - said months ago that Pool should cash in on Coutinho while his stock is high - they already have a better replacement.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

But Michael Owen told me that only Real and Barca are better...

Klopp spent 58m in his last season there. Remind we where they finished?

I'm writing off a system that has failed under two managers.
Let's revisit this topic when I'm proved right at the end of next season, shall we.

This thread since Seville's second goal went in has been fantastic. In a strange way it's good to know your club's failure can result in an Olympic swimming pool amount of spent jizz amongst so many opposition fans. It would be far worse if it was met with indifference.

Well that's how 45 minutes of football ruins a whole 2 day trip in Switzerland. Completely shat ourselves after that first one went in. Did we even have a shot in the second half? And it could of been more than 3-1 if I remember correctly? No European football next season could be a blessing in disguise....

What annoys me is that, as good as Seville where in the second half, we have shown that we're more than capable of going toe to toe with that quality of play. We could have dealt with it. But we went out with a whimper. That second half from us was totally fucking pathetic, and I hope the players take a long hard look at themselves and are embarrassed. It was the polar opposite to the fight that was shown against Dortmund when we needed 3 goals. And I'd argue Dortmund are a better side than Seville.

In short, losing when you've given it your best is annoying, but at least it's acceptable. Losing by being too shit scared to put up a fight is inexcusable, and that is what happened.

But you didn't have any players assisted by performance enhancing drugs playing against Sevilla. Turns out it did make a massive difference against Dortmund afterall.

So just over one quarter of the amount LvG has spent in two years at United. Indeed, they finished outside the European places and had struggled for two thirds of the season. This was mostly down to not replacing Lewandowski effectively - the players brought in were nowhere near his level.

It is the same system that, when working correctly, won back to back Bundesliga's, smashed Bayern in the DfB Final and narrowly lost out in a CL Final in 2013. While Klopp has a huge challenge on his hands at Anfield, to even get close to achieving that, I am confident that (assuming the club stay with him and support him), he will get Liverpool back as a regular fixture in the Champions League and challenging for domestic honours.
