The manager needs to shake things up after the Napoli game ,we desperately need to link the midfield with our attack ,maybe put Firmino who is 'comfortably the most effective at defending from the front' in the middle and allow him to push up providing the supply to the front three with Shaqiri,Salah and Mane forming the triumvirate .

Firmino is also 'arguably' our most technically gifted player ,with a real game intelligence,so I think we're missing a trick not giving a player of his undoubted dexterity the license to roam, rather than seeing him hemmed into a front three and denied the space to create.

Other than the above coming to fruition or if you like 'back in the real world ' Keita will hopefully be passed fit for this encounter so that would at least provide us with the opportunity to bridge the chasm betwixt midfield and attack that existed on Wednesday after his withdrawal.

Mendy might be fit for this, which would be useful. I like Zinchenko, but not sure he’s defence minded enough quite.

Would be nice to actually take something from Anfield for a change. Even if it’s just an intact bus.

So hard to call this, talk of Klopp's record against Pep, and Liverpool's record against Man City in recent seasons seems to set this up as the day Citeh come and demolish them. One thing for sure, Pep has to try something different from the usual butting of heads with a side that is so similar in outlook to his own. A day to let Liverpool have the ball and sit deep? A day to surprise and confound the pundits? I didn't see Liverpool's defeat at Napoli (I was watching Spurs get beat by Barca of course) but the reports say the 'Pool were unusually cautious. Pretty sure they will NOT come out cautious against the men in blue, so this is an opportunity for Pep to outflank his "nemesis" and frustrate the team, he is supposed to be a "genius" manager right?
I think a 1-1 is very tempting and very possible, but I'll go with my initial gut instinct forecast of an away win.

Liverpool 1 Man City 2

If Klopp sticks with the front three, they HAVE to be on it, otherwise this will be a long day. Heart says 3 - 2 to the Reds, but head says Desmond.

Cant wait for this ,just hoping the eleven players chosen to play in red are on their respective game.

I think City are going to come at us at full pelt later, so every man jack needs to be switched on
if only to inflict a wound to Cities most favoured sword arm.

Liverpool will do what they always do to City, bludgeon them into submission.

While everyone is playing this as some Klopp curse over Guardiola, City have one win at Anfield since 1981, I believe.

Not expecting much other than frustration, disappointment and getting the whole thing out of the way. No one ever won or lost a title in October.

Yes, you'd think if he didn't trust TAA for this game he'd go for the straight swap with Clyne, who's much better at RB than Gomez is. But all geniuses are crazy amirite

If I were given one sentence to describe City’s fan base, it would be that they boo James Milner.

Gomez has almost been as bad as the game itself. He’s having a mare.

Aside from that meh. City are a lot more humble coming here this time around, tracking back well and defending as a unit.

It's not pretty but Guardiola must get tired of getting handsomely beaten every time he goes to Anfield. What he is doing this time around frustrates Liverpool as the passing is generally from deep and quite risk-averse. They do look the most likely to score.
One for the lovers of tactical battles. For those who want loads of goals? Less so.

They didn’t at first. It’s a reaction to liverpool’s obsession with Sterling.

Decided the league is a two horse race between Chelsea and Arsenal based on this.

Weak from the City players to let him take that penalty.

Well that’s 2 hours of my life I’m never getting back.

I thought Van Dijk was incredible (apart from the pen of course) the amount of headers and blocks he made, and I’ve never really rated Lovren but he was brilliant second half too.

Four points and no goals conceded from Arsenal and Liverpool away. That’ll do me, even if it should have been six!
