To be fair, they've done a better job of that themselves than I ever could over the last few months. Only Saltire and Klopp can't see it. And only one of those matter.

A new keeper in the summer must be on the agenda. Sell Mignolet and keep Karius as backup/potential.

I can't wait to hear Saltire's comments on the bag of shit known as Karius. There aren't many top flight keepers that make Mignolet look good but unfortunately for Liverpool he plays for the same team.

Still the long term future between Liverpool's sticks, eh Salts?
Yep, he's a future Neuer without a doubt.

You would hope so. Ideally, I'd get shot of both as one is simply a different variation of shit than the other. But getting rid of and replacing one would be a start. There are quality keepers out there to be had.

Special props to the ref for not falling for Sterling's pathetic dive early in the game.

Just seen that beating City today stopped them equalling our 31 game unbeaten run in 87/88. Quite appropriate that.

Huge win. Front 3 class again. What a signing Robertson has turned out to be!
With Klopp saying Karius is the new no.1, think we will go for a new keeper in summer. Migs is a lost cause, he will give Karius until the end of the season and see how it goes.

What a lovely game for the neutral, the intensity from the first whistle was fantastic, a real battle.

Liverpool were fantastic, bar the goalkeeper of course, and caught City on a bit of a flat day imo.

No Silva, in addition to De Bruyne and Aguero being almost anonymous throughout.

De Bruyne anonymous? What game were you watching? He was still one of the best performers on the pitch. Aguero however was turd.

Brilliant advert for the Premier League this game. 2 managers going for it from the off. If Liverpool buy a new goalkeeper (Butland perhaps?) then next year they could/should be legit title contenders.

Was gonna say this.

And I think it's not just Liverpool who need reinforcements at the back. City's defence is wank, and yes I'm including the keeper in that.

Stones has made gaffes leading to goals in all but 1 match since his return from injury.
No wonder Maguire is linked to them. Trouble is he's too slow for Peps system imo. Guess that never hurt Pique though.

Think Stones has been living off the hype that he could play out from the back and was comfortable on the ball. Looks far from it.

Not sold and haven't been sold on him since signed. CB situation needs addressing in the summer. VVD would have been the perfect heir to Kompany and was disappointing we didn't make more of an effort to lure him away from Anfield to the Etihad.

Found on another forum, pretty good showing on why that first is very much on Karius:

To be fair to stones he was playing very well before the injury. He's obviously not fully match sharp seen as he was making mistakes on his return before this game so it wasn't just liverpools press that caused this. Give him a few more games and he'll be sharp. Both him and otamendi are good defenders and have proved it this season. Remember being a defender in any of peps open teams is harder than any other teams.

A handful of good games at the start of the season masked his limited ability at the elite level, but that's just my opinion of John. I sincerely hope he goes on to prove me well and truly wrong.

They also have less actual defending to do because Pep sides often have 70% possession of the ball and face less pressure and shots as a result.

I think that is a fair comment. We haven't looked as 'steely' for want of a better word since Kompany first started with his injury problems. It's an area and attribute that I hope we address in the summer.

I am all for playing the brand of football Pep wants and sticking to those principles, but there are times where, when under the cosh you have to grab the bull by the horns and do whatever it takes to survive. Those mad 10 minutes yesterday should act as a valuable lesson to all concerned.

Tbf to City though your style has seen you dominate the league this season and looking healthy in all the cup competitions. The season couldn't have gone much better for you. You won't be playing teams that have the intensity Liverpool showed against you every week. In fact there is probably only 2 other teams in the division who can cause you troubles by doing that, Spurs and Chelsea when they are in form.

Ya but when teams attack them there defenders have less help and are more exposed. Do you think John Terry would have looked as good playing for peps Barca or this city. Also Liverpool didn't really create alot it was mostly down to defenders being sloppy on the ball and that won't happen alot with that team

Palace were only a shit penalty away from beating them, and they should have been playing us with 10 men for 80 odd minutes.

To aspire to be the best team in the World you have to be able to adapt when under pressure.

When all is said and done we are having a fantastic season, I have no cause to grumble (far cry from the days of visiting Bootham Crescent!!), and ultimately yesterday's loss wont define our season, but I'd like to see us be able to adapt when teams "come at us". In doing so I feel we need to learn to scruff it out for periods of the game when under pressure.

I was a bit surprised that Pep didn't give Sterling the hook sooner than he did.

Sterling was clearly rattled by the crowd getting on his back, he was a tackle magnet the minute the ball got anywhere near him and he simply didn't look at any time that he could handle the pressure. Allowed Robertson to rile him easily and then stomped off in a sulk when he got the raspberry from the crowd.

My point of view on Sterling? Has good moments and ordinary matches. He has the ability to have a genuine effect on any game but seems to lack the temperament to deal with the going when it gets tough.

He's scored a lot of late important goals for City this season which shows a good temperament in crunch situations.

Just warning you, if you don't blame all potential slip ups in Manchester City's quest for global domination on a global conspiracy orchestrated by a shadowy network of referees, The Media, and Fred the Red, Silkyman will out you as a CLOSET RAG.
