We're out, think with the team selection we weren't really bothered about winning this one, a few too many kids with a few of them needing loan moves before being put into first team action. Morgan Fox and George Boyd were absolute dog shit, none of them last night have done anything to give the manager any thoughts for selection on Saturday which is a shame. Would have been nice to have a run but oh well onto Reading.

As nice as it is seeing a Leeds player getting clattered like that, it's a stupid challenge to make. He made a similar challenge for Everton youth team, it's a shame we don't have that ref tonight, he only got a yellow for that somehow.

Could've broken Baker's leg. Hilarious.

Fair play to Preston yesterday, better team by a mile.

We need to win on Saturday. Bruce under pressure already.

Fancy us for a bit of revenge for last season's completely undeserved last minute loss. Bruce will be under pressure no matter what he does other than romp the league

Preston did a great job last night of slowing our attacks the only thing I didn't appreciate was the constant time wasting from them at every free kick and goal kick but I'd probably praise it if it was us that's how fickle us fans are, BTW that Daniel Johnson is a quality player imo

Yeah DJ was unreal last night, glad he’s finally signed the new contract cos he can be a big player for us this season.

Bloody Jos playing 2nd string.
I wasted £250 on my Wembley suit.
Will save it for FA Cup or Playoff Final.

I fancy us to bounce back against you. Should be an entertaining game.

Some good followings tonight in the cup. 2600 Geordies at forest, and 650 Plymouth at Millwall.

They need to start the first couple of rounds of this before the season starts, madness that teams play full strength teams in a final pre season friendly but put the stiffs out for this. Would also help with fixture congestion and teams might take it more serious.

Fully agree, I'd do a format like they do in Scotland in a group stage, far better way.

Logically
24 groups of 3 (All EFL teams) and you play one home game and one away.
Top of each group through then a draw between them 24 to decide the next round.

12 + 20 PL teams in October time.
Last 16 November
Last 8 December
Last 4 January

At least they cut all of extra time out this season and it goes straight to pens.

That's exactly how it should be, could even get the lot in before Xmas.

so in Walkley’s way of doing it youll have the 20 Prem teams joining with only 12 others, reducing the likelihood of any upsets dramatically and making it even harder for league one and two sides to get the big money spinning ties.

Reading tried but were pretty limited in attack until Sims and Baldock came on.

Not many first teamers though?

not really, Jansson started and Phillips, the rest were subs and reserves, but in the 2nd half we brought on Saiz and Klich, still kinda glad we are out we need the midweek breaks anyway

It's only 16 teams each now , hardly much difference

22 years since we won our last trophy, and the league cup it was. Villa 3.0 Leeds . Milosevic, Yorke, Taylor. Also finished 4th that season, and semi finals of FA Cup, at Old Trafford. Got beat 3.0 by Liverpool. Fans boycotted the game, because United were charging over the top prices for the game. Empty seats in both ends with the attendance being 39k if I remember right. Anyway, enough of the history lesson.

Fowler belter, bin dippers in green and white?

FA set prices for semis though.

You've got it. Thought United had set prices. My best mate is a Leeds fan, and I just knew we were going to win. Leeds played Blues in the semi final, and I always remember watching the first leg at Blues, and thinking how nuts Blues were. Gary McAllister got hit on the head with a snooker/pool ball. Very hostile for Leeds that day. We played Arsenal in the semis at their place. Went 2.0 down, then ended up drawing 2.2. Ended up doing them at Villa. The 94 cup final against Man Utd was far more nervous. Stopped the bastards doing the treble that season by beating them 3.1. The semi final that season was unreal. Going 3 down at Prenton park Tranmere, then getting that crucial away goal, and I think it was Guy Whittingham. Win the penalty shootout at our place. Great days.

Nah it ain’t, 70 teams enter in round 1, 20 join in round 2 and then 7 come in in round 3

What you on about. I mean the last 32 now is 16 prem teams and 16 efl teams as opposed to 20 prem and 12 efl , no one gives a fuck about it, even league one and two teams play reserves, something needs to change to revamp it and the group's before the season is the best way imo.

Fleetwood made 10 changes away at Leicester the other night....
